Piombaia Agroturismo are managed by some very nice people. The rooms are clean and spacious, the grounds are pleasant and close to downtown Montalcino and most attractions (by car), and the office is very friendly. We took advantage of the Cellar lunch and the hike to San Antimo, and both events were a wonderful experience. The food was fresh and...

Traditional Tuscan farmhouse set in the vines of the southern slopes of Montalcino with beam & tile ceilings and wide archways filled with geraniums and martins nesting under the eaves. Attractive grounds in which to walk or sit and read, but with plenty of handy facilities such as BBQ, outside tables and chairs, gazebo and other shady areas for kids...

What a great place to stay for a night or so. Really friendly welcome and service. Large room with lots of windows. Good value. Close to Montalcino. Lovely pool (albeit too cold in May!) and grounds. Small village down the road and apparently their family vineyard across the road. We will come back next time we're in the area. Just...

We drove up to Montalcino to get away for a quiet weekend, intent on hiking the trail to the abbey at Sant'Antimo. We weren't sure if we would hike both ways or have to figure out transportation back. Vittorio not only offered to drive us to the head of the trail, but gave us his cell number so that he...

We'd recommend this place to anyone interested in visiting Montalcino. It's only about 2 km from the beautiful Hill town, but still far enough outside that you can enjoy the quiet and beautiful countryside. Very quaint, with a good restaurant on the property, nice if you are a weary traveler. The place is surrounded by lavender bushes and an evening...

Stayed here in early June for four nights with eight of us. We loved the quietness of the property and the family feel that comes from it. Cecilia was incredibly accommodating and we literally had the property to ourselves, or at least it felt like it. Great rates and excellent wine.

Pros: Hospitality, minikitchen, free wine tasting, good wines, fair restaurant on the property. Cons: No WiFi in the apartment. Driving distance from both Montalchino and Piombaia winery. Run-down non-stick frying pans.

What a delight. We arrived in late afternoon after a long day of travel and were warmly greeted by Cecilia, the proprietress. She showed us to our apartment, which had a spectacular view of the Tuscan hills, a living room kitchenette, a bedroom with ancient beamed ceiling and king sized bed, and a bathroom big enough for 2 people at...

This was our favorite stop over our 2-week trip to Italy. If you want amenities & convenience, stay in a nice hotel in Florence & drive to the countryside. But for the rest of us who want something different & yet still very nice, this is it. A bit hard to find (google maps isn't entirely clear, so take directions...

We just love the Montalcino area and are happy to have found this beautiful place. We will come again next year! Very friendly and familiar hosts. We loved the flat. Every day we enjoyed the pool outside and were happy to find it open also in fall. The restaurant in the house is perfect! The only thing to claim is,...
