Lovely little complex and the best restaurant in the area. Plenty of choices on the menu, The prices are very reasonable. Always very clean and tidy. We eat there most nights. Less then 10 min walk to sea front with plenty of taverns and restaurants when you get there.

I have just returned home from here and was really sad to leave. When I arrived I was greater and shown to my room which was furnished out to basic Greek style everything and everything was functional and had a large balcony which was furnished with 2 chairs and a table. This place is so quiet and relaxing and very peaceful and just a short walk down to the beach and tavernas. I was made to feel really welcome by the family and I met some amazing people there too.I had the best holiday and I will be returning here.If you are looking for lively entertainment this isn't the place for you but I for one will be returning next year!

I've been coming back here for years now and it feels like I'm coming home. Ourania and Christos the owners never fail to make me welcome. The rooms are functional and clean and within a 10 minute walk from the village. However, there is a great taverna on site. Christos's cooking is superb although portion sizes can be generous, far better value than in the village. His drinks are also cheaper. If you regularly holiday in Greece you won't regret coming here you will probably come back again. Can't wait to go back next year to meet up with all the other returners which adds to the family feeling. Pool is of a good size and great for that cooling dip after a long walk up into the hills. Remember this is Greece and not the Costas, things are different, laid back and relaxing.

Firstly in response to previous review. Yes it's correct that the WiFi isn't available on one side of the building, however it doesn't state that in the amenities. We were there at the same time and this is our honest review. Our first time in Lesvos, beautiful island. As to the owners being vile, I can only say that we found them to be nothing less than polite, caring and considerate. I had a fall when I arrived and they went out of their way to check I was OK and had everything I needed, showing genuine compassion. A bottle of water and ice was brought straight to me and they continued to ask how I was for over a week, especially Ourania! Thanks to Emma for the first aid, a true NHS angel. Chrisos may not have a gregarious personality but he is a big softie with a cracking sense of humour and a heart of gold. While we were there he was harvesting his walnuts and threw as many up to us on the top balcony as he could, amidst much giggling in our attempts to catch them. This is just one example of the kind, funny person he is. He is also a fantastic chef who will cook anything you ask for! All fresh from his farm and reasonably priced. The hotel is basic, authentic Greek. We paid for 2* and that's what we got, as expected. How many times do you change your bedding and towels at home?! The only bullying we witnessed was, unfortunately from Brits towards fellow Brits! They were arrogant and rude, shocking behaviour, made us ashamed! Summing up, a lovely hotel, run by a hardworking family, set in a wonderful tranquil setting ensuring a completely chilled, relaxing holiday. Highly recommend for people who are looking for unspoilt Greece! Thank you Christos, Ourania and family! Hope to see you again soon!

The people that run this complex are absolutely vile. I have been to Greece over 150 times and I have never met Greek people like this before. Greek people are lovely, friendly and helpful. These people are not, they can't possibly be Greek. I asked to change rooms when I first arrived as they advertise wifi in your room but I couldn't get it. I was repeatedly told no ' that is your room'. I wasn't given a proper reason why I couldn't move. I was then told there were no rooms. I spoke to the rep who arranged for me to swap rooms and I was supposed to move today (after 3 days of begging) but the nasty woman said I can't move til tomorrow cos the room needs cleaning! It hasn't been cleaned since the last people moved out a week ago so why would it need cleaning again and why was I told there wasn't a room to move to when there was. Please do not stay here. I am so upset because of my experience I can not really put it into words, I am distraught at the way I have been treated, I know you will think this is over the top but it isn't, apparently the family are farmers not hoteliers, they know how to speak to sheep and cows but not human beings. People who know that they are like this just tolerate them, please don't let them spoil your holiday. Please choose somewhere else to stay.

This is my 3rd visit to Ourania Studios and every time I look at the reviews I thank those reviewers who write an honest one. Let's start with the rooms, I have always said they are Basic but they have comfortable beds and a shower that is piping hot, there are enough pots & pans & all you would need to survive. Now if you want to eat out at the onsite Restaurant there is no better, the food choice is Greek/Mediterranean. The size of the meals are big, so be warned. Christos the Chef makes some amazing food. The rest of the family-run business is run like clockwork. I have read that some people complained their towels were only changed twice a week, I beg to differ mine was three times a week and I wouldn't have thought they treat a room change any different, this included my bed sheets which were changed twice a week. Christos and his family are brilliant and if you request something they do their utmost to get it done. Hopefully, I have given you an honest review and answered some of the issues that others have put forward. Ourania is a brilliant place to have a good rest & relax, it is not a 5* hotel but if you want that, pay double or treble what you pay here. Oh, I forgot, the Pool is to die for. I highly recommend you give Ourania Studio a try, you won't be disappointed.

been home over a fortnight now and after reading some of the previous reviews decided to wait and consider peoples comments about the ourania studios. here goes mine booked a ten night stay, and we know what we are getting accommodation wise. stayed in room 12 and couldn't complain. use the fridge to keep the water cold and the odd beer or wine. bedding/towels changed twice. bins emptied daily and floors swept. air con not needed during our stay. maybe its just us but i don't want luxury all the time, yes as others have said the rooms do need upgrading and in time i think they will. in all our time of visiting Petra i have never had a crossed word with anyone from the family, only kindness and concern. i did speak with one or two of the reviewees and lets say our opinions were different but who on here works from 5am till midnight . 2 grand kids and another due , wife recovering from a serious illness and a harvest to collect, sheep and goats to milk/feed etc. then cooks for us holidaying selfish tourists. loved our stay with this warm loving family, and enjoyed meeting the welsh mafia (Alan, Maggie and Max). hoping the Leeds couple will return because we definitely will be returning to OURANIA

So much to my surprise, this accommodation seems to have polarised opinion. I've been to Greece off and on since 1975...Lesvos five times previously, but this was my first time staying in Petra. I chose Ourania as it looked like the simple accommodation in a pleasant location which is all you need in the height of the summer. Nice pool (15/16 strokes across, most pool pictures distort their size), never more than six others around, so plenty of loungers. I had room 2 on the ground floor (although there are a few steps up to get there). Very large balcony fringed by oleanders, although it gets the sun in the morning so breakfasting can be quite hot. Rooms are small, although there is plentiful storage space, even if every door hinge squeaked. Greek beds are usually on the small side - dunno how the Dutch cope - and it is true the mattresses have seen better days. There's a definite upgrade required there. Plenty of socket points, efficient and relatively quiet fridge, and a shower curtain in the bathroom (luxury). My room was clean and towels/sheets changed every three days. Didn't need aircon. Lots of returners, all of whom were friendly. I ate there every other night. Contracted accommodation rates are never going to make Greek owners rich, so it's a good way of supporting the business. Everything I had at the taverna (Zygos) was excellent, and it's a pity not more tourists venture out to try it. It cannot be stressed enough that portion control is not Christos's strong point. I had read this on other reviews but thought I'd be able to handle the size of plates. But I was defeated several times - and that after I omitted lunches after the first three days. You have been warned. As a first-timer, I have to say the gruff exterior of Christos is just show. Watch how the granddaughters have him on a string.😁 I found him just as friendly as Ourania and Meropi (and Viktor the dog), he just has limited English. Still a lot more fluent than I am in Greek... I'd happily return. I liked the hosts, the rural location close to walks in the Ligona valley. Petra beach is seven minutes walk, Petri village a more uphill 30 minutes. And do go and visit the newly-restored Ottoman baths in Molyvos.
