In our experience we took the ride from Shanghai to Hangzhou which is a fast train, one of the best travel service in China. From Beijing, I don't know honestly, but the hotel staff will probably be able to help you.
Same for the travel from the train station to the hotel. It's a long ride and you will need to book transportation. If you don't have much experience in China, go with the hotel service, might not be the cheapest option, but will definitely save you the headache.
