We had a great morning snorkeling here with the family (2 adults, 2 kids 13 & 11) our driver recommend us to come to Gideon's beach/Havana Bay as we wanted to snorkel and see some colourful fish. We were not disappointed and just a few metres out coral and lots of fish!

It's an easy safe place for the kids to snorkel and get confidence as they don't have to go far off shore to see another world. The weather was ok, overcast but it didn't effect our day as you could still see beautiful blue and colourful fish.

We were greeted by a lovely young waitress who gave us a bread roll for the children to feed the fish 👍
There was no fee, but were very happy to have lunch here to support this local business. The food was fresh and yummy we had calamari, fish & chips with a couple of local beers and soft drinks (as we're on holidays)
I would definitely come back next time we're here!

My family were going up to the north of Efate to stay on Pele Island just north of Efate, but unfortunately it fell through so we were looking for a place to stay for a couple of nights when we stumbled across the lodge. We went to have a look at the bungalows and beach and decided that it would do nicely. This is a family-run business with bungalows right on the beach and is an amazing snorkeling spot. There is coral, heaps of fish, starfish, and even some giant clams!! The water is super clear, too. The bungalows are nice but the hot water does not always work. Highly recommend.

Stayed one night after a special birthday lunch at Francesca s restaurant. The bungalows are great and in a very special spot right by the water, We had a lovely relaxing afternoon on the deck and enjoyed champagne with one of the chef's specialities- delicious tuna sashimi. All downhill from there, as the owner allowed 21 people to park next door (in one bungalow sleeping 2 people!!!) and party until 2 am. We had NO sleep as by the time the adults quietened down the kids were starting to wake!!! Wonderful breakfast in the restaurant next morning and apologies from the staff, but why does the owner allow this???? I have heard it has happened to other people too. Spoilt an otherwise wonderful visit. Oh and no gas in the bottle for hot shower and ceiling fan didn't work, but we didn't need it.

We have stayed here many times and truly love it! The accommodation is pretty much just a step up from camping, but the location is sublime and the local people delightful. The bungalows are just a few steps from the water, where you can snorkel and see coral and beautiful fish like Nemo and even turtles. The Harbour is very sheltered so it's a great place to learn. The fishing here is great too. Tuna, wahoo, mahi mahi - you never know what you'll get. The bungalows have basic cooking facilities, including a BBQ so we always do a shop in town before heading over the hill. The local shop sells things like bread, milk, water but not much in the way of meat or veges. I believe that a restaurant is opening up onsite pretty soon in the large thatched fare on the waterfront, so that will make catering easier. I really recommend this place for anybody who is not too precious. It's about 2 star accommodation in a 6 star location.

we were booked in for two nights but only stayed one as the place was so dirty - where do I start ? Fantastic beach and coral outside but the bungalows were in poor condition, floor was covered in slime, shower didn't work properly, no hot water, insects, grit and dirt over everything. beds were comfortable but no ceiling fan, ants crawled into our bags and we were finding them for weeks , outside kitchen had a pile of 'clean' dishes looking like they had just been washed but obviously had been there for days-weeks , fridge was rusty .... We ate at thei 'restaurant' and my son started vomiting virtually straight away and was sick for 3 days, I had a queasy stomach for 3 days - we were glad to leave. One staff member was great - very helpful but as the manager I think she should have been doing more to ensure the place was presentable - but all of the staff seemed bored and disinterested and spent a lot of time playing on their phones. I wonder where the owner is in all of this?

Yesterday we visited Port Vila on the P&O Pacific Explorer. I rang Gideon the owner and he came and picked up myself and 5 friends from the ship in his people mover. Gideon agreed to take us to the Eco Lodge for the day and bring us back to the ship. He is a very friendly and amenable host, even allowing us to stop at the duty free shop in town on the way while he went to the local supermarket. We enjoyed a very scenic drive to Havannah Bay, it is a beautiful part of Vanuatu and only 30 mins from town. We snorkeled right out the front of the Eco Lodge in beautiful clear and safe water and it was wonderful. Gideon's Restaurant has a simple but well priced menu featuring local fish and steaks and local very cold beer and international wines. Gideon's wife took our orders and was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend a visit here for a true taste of unspoilt Vanuatu, Gideon's phone number is +678 774 7200.

We recently spent two weeks in Vanuatu and had a large group of family and friends with us- Gideon, Aisi and their team did everything in their power to ensure our guests had an authentic Vanuatu experience with a few unexpected luxuries to make the trip a truely memorable one!

The fales all recently refurbished were clean and tidy, and the new outdoor cooking facility authentic and fun to use! Breakfasts and seafood platters all exceeded expectations as did the little extras like taking our guests coconuts, pawpaw and even arranging hand woven bags with our names on them made the couple of weeks that much more special!

Nothing was ever a problem, from cold beer to transport, lelepa trips to singing... and the laughter!

The last night feast of seafood, kumera, salads and beautifully decorated surroundings made us feel so special- and so very proud of you all.

This resort is special- glamping, back to basics with a multi million dollar view and a team who genuinely want their guests to feel special without losing the authentic Vanuatu vibe.

Gideon- you have set the standard high- keep up the fantastic work.

Tangkiu tumas. Lukim yu.

Sarah and Steve

We stayed at Havannah Eco Lodge for 7 days as part of a group attending a wedding.

What an incredible location- you can't beat it, especially for the price.

With only a small amount of bungalows you avoid the over populated resort feel. The bungalows are basic but have the necessaries like a fridge, shower, dining ware etc- in my opinion it's all you need for an island holiday.

Gideon's, the on site open restaurant, served good quality food and the staff were happy, polite and helpful.

If staying here I would recommend hiring a rental car as it's approx 30 mins from Port Vila and the airport. This gave us the opportunity to explore the island and go into the city.

I would also highly recommend taking a short stroll down the beach to the Wahoo Bar for cocktails and more fresh food.

Thanks Gideon and team- we had a great time.
