This a great little farmstay about 10minutes from Gloucester and only a few minutes from Barrington. Ian's complimentary farm tours in the morning were our son's highlight and having plenty of space to run around outside and explore down near the river. A plethora of animals to admire and feed. The cottages are spacious and the bonus is the 2 bathrooms. They've thought carefully about the little things that make a stay great and included them. Kitchen is well equipped and the big fridge/freezer is a bonus. The deck was great to sit on and enjoy the serenity. Good space in the case of bad weather for the kids to play on.
Only note: the top windows in the bedroom are great for letting sun in during the day but woke us up in the morning so perhaps an option of blinds on them or tinting (?) would be beneficial for those not wanting to wake up with the sun :-)

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay in the Tilley cottage overlooking the river. Even though the river was up due to the wet weather and we couldn’t go kayaking, the kids enjoyed fishing, walking around the property, and feeding and cuddling the animals.

The cottage was clean and well equipped, with a wonderfully wide verandah that came in very handy. It was a great place to barbecue, eat dinner, and have a glass of wine as we watched the sunset.

Ian is friendly and very good with children. He gave a lot of information about raising hens, goats, alpacas, cattle and miniature horses. Our youngest son who is usually tentative and prefers to stay at home, developed a lot of confidence with the animals and told us that he didn’t want to leave. He enjoyed feeding the animals with Tilley and the other guests’ children. The baby goats were endearing and everyone loved being able to hold them.

Barrington is only just out of Gloucester and close to the Barrington Tops and Copeland Tops. We would happily return.

Grace Cottage’s wide veranda overlooking bush was magnificent to sit back, relax and enjoy the views of the Australian Bush. I found the peace I needed there with the sights and sounds of bush and river. Coffee shops at Gloucester only 10 min driveway if needed, we cheated and went to town for lunch daily.

I didn’t want to leave and extended stay moving up the hill to Mardi Cottage, with views out to the mountains, I enjoyed watching the moon come up. The farm animals were a joy to watch on walks around the property. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay unwinding from city life. Everything was there for great stay.

We booked here to celebrate a birthday and was hoping to swim, gather around the firepit at night and pick eggs from the “egg factory”.

Whilst we were able to enjoy the freshly laid eggs, we found that the swimhole wasn’t that inviting as the water looked a bit stagnant and we were concerned about micro organisms that might be living in it. This is nature and we understand that it is beyond everyone’s control.

So we decided to do the walk around the farm and looked at the animals instead.

For the firepit, there was no firewood under the bench and we couldn’t find any lighter or match in the communal kitchen. We were told that we could gather the woods ourselves from the bush.

There was a group of families staying at the same time as us and they occupied the communal kitchen and started the firepit. They were having a celebration and we felt like we would be gate crashing if we went and sat around the firepit as well.

I wish that each cabin has it’s own firepit as although it’s communal and meant to be shared, it’s awkward if you’re joining in to a big group like that.

The place itself is wonderful and serene with the rolling hills surrounding it but not being able to do two of the three experiences was a disappointment.

We could have just stayed at home and had dinner on our deck the same way we did at this accommodation and saved on the booking fees.

We went to this holiday cottages with another two friends families. Kids were so enjoyed the site, they fishing on the river bank, feeding the farm animals, run around the site. Meanwhile adults are able to sit down together have some drinks and games. Will definitely come back.

Thoroughly recommend these cottages, they are in a great location, right on the river. The cottages are clean and comfortable with modern facilities. We booked all three cottages so had the place to ourselves which was a definate advantage. Loved that we could visit some of the farm animals for a pat and cuddle whenever we liked. Outside fireplace and kitchen area came in very handy. Plenty of space for outdoor games and activities. Close proximity to Copeland Tops for hiking and Gloucester for a coffee.

Very enjoyable stay. I wanted a few days to unwind and this was perfect. Quiet, peaceful and situated in a beautiful spot. Mel and Ian were very helpful. Would recommend to anyone looking to get away from the rat race. Close to Gloucester if you want town amenities but far enough away to feel secluded.

My partner and I recently stayed for three nights at Barrington Riverside Cottages. It is one of the most peaceful, beautiful places I have ever been to. The cottages have amazing rural and mountain views in every direction you look. The cottage we stayed in was the "Tilly" Cottage. It was immaculately clean and modern with everything you need including a beautiful, big timber covered deck which overlooks the river and beyond to the mountains. The river is beautiful and flows right near the cottages. It was great to swim in and had fish, platypus and water dragons in it. The property also has a number of farm animals to interact with including alpacas, goats, chickens, sheep and cows. There are also many species of birds to admire in and around the property. The hosts Ian, Mel and Tilly are just the nicest people. They are so warm and hospitable and even showed us around the farm and let us collect some fresh chicken eggs for breakfast. The property is also only a short drive to the World Heritage listed Barrington Tops State Conservation Area which is absolutely amazing. To sum it all up, It was a stunningly beautiful and tranquil stay in very nice, comfortable accommodation, right near rivers, mountains and forests and with wonderful hosts. Absolutely highly recommend.
