There is a part of NZ's North Island that is commonly referred to as 'The King Country'. For those travellers who enjoy exploring 'a little off the beaten track', there is in the King Country a veritable feast of 'things to see and do' midst the region's verdant landscapes. But, paradoxically, in the rural parts of the King Country, there...

Thank you so much for your wonderful description of your stay and our local area. We believe Waitomo and the King Country area are one of NZ's better kept secrets and are so pleased you took the time to find all those hidden gems!

This place deserves at a minimum, a two night stay. Fabulous scenary surrounds you. All the amenities are available and charm abounds. Liz and Evan could not have been more accomodating. This is a true jewel which met all our expectations and more.

We're so glad you did find us! Although we're only 15 kms off State Highway 3, we do appreciate that "back country" travel in NZ for the first-time visitor can seem challenging. Luckily Google mapping is a great resource.

A comfortable cozy cottage on a scenic farm with two welcoming and engaging hosts. We were taken away by Liz and Evan's hospitality. We ate dinner and breakfast with them in their homestead, all cooked by Liz and both excellent. I had an engaging discussion with Evan about New Zealand's gov't, politics, and economy and about farming in New Zealand,...

The greenery scene at the doorstep of kamahi cottage was magnificent. Its what I constantly miss of New Zealand. A pleasure found on google, booked and off we went with a high expectation since its said to be New Zealand's one and only 5 stars farm stay. Even though we went with already-high expectations, we were still surprised at many...

My girlfriend rated this cottage as the best stays among all her overseas trip. The moment i arrived the cottage, we were warmly welcome by Liz. She gave us a little orientation of the area and i was impressed by the design of the cottage, it definitely gave me a very homely feeling. I think Liz has done a great...

My husband and I recently stayed 2 nights at Kamahi Cottage with our 3 year old and 7 month old daughters. It was our 15th wedding anniversary and were very excited to find a romantic, cosy retreat that also welcomed our children (most places like this are 'couples only', and we have missed staying in places like this since having...

We spent one night at Kamahi Cottage in July 2011 and agree that the cottage, surrounding country-side, and cooked breakfast are all beautiful. However we found it very expensive, especially when paying an extra $60 for our teenage son. Obviously we knew how much we were paying and thought it would be worth the splurge. Unfortunately the fold out sofa...

Thank you very much for your feedback. We're sorry that you were disappointed, as we clearly indicate pricing and amenities in the cottage to avoid promises that can't be met. I was very grateful that you felt able to advise me of your son's food intolerances, so that I could buy the special spelt flour needed. Please accept my apologies...

We did not know what to expect but what we did get was a really lovely surprise. Not quite next door to Waitomo but a hidden gem on arrival. Beautifully decorated accomodation and supper can be taken in the lodge or family home. Fabulous breakfast and really friendly family who even e-mailed on a requested recipe. Highly recommended
