Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had an amazing two night stay with Deb and Chris. We
loved the relaxed atmosphere. Our boys loved swimming in the pool. Our Labrador loved getting to roam around and hanging out with Spike and Sammy. We all loved the incredible breakfast Chris cooks up each morning. It felt like we were staying with old friends, but at the same time you could have privacy to do your own thing. The location is perfect Way from the hustle and bustle, yet you are still close to everything you need including beaches and shopping. We will definitely be back to stay again!

One of the nicest things about running a B&B is that people arrive as strangers and leave as friends! Thank you for your lovely words and we really hope to see you again in the future.

Very welcoming and friendly and everything was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was amazing and it was so nice to have a coffee machine available. Netflix was great too for chill-out time. Our 2 dogs were made to feel very welcome and the fully fenced garden allowed them freedom to wander around. We'd definitely visit again.

My Partner and I stayed with Chris and Deb for 4 nights. They were perfect hosts and Chris provided exceptional home cooked breakfast each day - restaurant quality! I would recommend anyone to stay at Winston Cottage who wants a relaxing time in a beautiful green location with easy access to the beach. Thanks Chris and Deb.

Firstly we booked through Airbnb where it was advertised as a 2 bedroom unit. Got there it is a 1 bedroom unit so I asked where my foster niece will sleep. He said the seat in lounge room was pull out bed so she could sleep there. But then he told me booking was only for 2 so have to pay extra. I told him to check as I was sure it was 3 people which he later confirmed.
He then told us the pool wasn't available but beaches were near by so that was the 2nd major issue as we booked to relax by the pool as my niece has been waiting for summer and chance to swim. We should have packed up and left then and there but didn't know the refund policy and chance of getting our money back.

As it was dog friendly we took our dog but were very hesitant of letting her out to play as the yard was covered in dog poo issue number 3. They also had 2 dogs, both Border Collies where the oldest unfortunately looks on its last legs and an energetic 8 month puppy which jumps up and nips at your face so be careful with little children or older people with balance problems so issue number 4. The dogs will also walk in and out of your room as they please if the door is open and he told me they may sleep outside your room as well.

While checking the refund policies and chance to get our money back their puppy pushed our puppy down the stairs (I understand they were playing but my dog walked away with bad leg and $300 vet bill)

As the room wasn't as advertised and we were unable to use the pool, I complained and tried to negotiate to stay 1 night and refund 1 night as didn't feel like driving for another 2 hours to get home. He kept referring to Airbnb policy of 7day notice needed and basically told me to get lost.

The fact is under Australian consumer law as the accommodation didn't match the advertisement in the number of rooms or facilities offered (the pool) we were entitled to a full refund.

We decided to leave and try our luck with full refund due to rudeness of the owner. We ran into usual issues you hear about with Airbnb but upon further investigation found evidence that the same accomodation was advertised as 1 bedroom on all other websites and even had fine print that the pool wasn't available in some sites. After this was supplied along with screenshots and links to Australian consumer law we finally got a refund from Airbnb but not the host who profited off their false ad.

The owners purposely mislead potential customers on Airbnb due to Airbnb reluctance to give refunds and hold their accommodation suppliers to account. Other sites and platforms with better reputations would kick them off their platform for the same behaviour so their ads on those sites were listed accordingly.

The result after I threatened to go to fair trading was a credit to full value paid for by Airbnb. The owners got to keep my money and keep advertising a 2 bedroom unit with a pool to the next sucker they can trap

What a wonderful stay. Chris and Deb are the most amazing hosts. The accommodation has everything you need and is very clean, comfortable and quiet. We slept so well and felt refreshed and relaxed after the first day.
Having time with Kezzy and Rosie the collies was a welcome surprise too and if you are a dog lover you will be in heaven. The location was ideal - Palmwoods is lovely and still with easy access to the region (coast or the range). The breakfasts - wow…. We stayed a week and Chris cooked a different veggie brekkie each day - every one was fantastic. Beautifully cooked and a real treat. Cannot fault Winston Cottage at all. Attention to detail, thoughtfully presented and attentive hosts who were patient and answered all our questions on the area!! Highly recommend a stay to explore the Sunshine Coast from a central and beautiful location. Hope to be back soon 😉

Having been a regular visitor to Winston Cottage now over several years I can not recommend a stay there highly enough. The hosts are amazing, and make you feel like you are part of the family. Every stay is friendly, comfortable and both Deb and Deb are always so generous and eager to do everything to make you feel welcome. The conversation is as good as the food, which is always first rate. View from the property across the lush surroundings is so peaceful. Added bonus is a beautiful old Border Collie and a totally adorable, gorgeous little puppy who just wants to lick you to death. If I could give 11 stars I would.

We had a very relaxing few days at this cute and comfy B&B in Palmwoods, up the hill from the beautiful Sunshine Coast beaches. The Cottage was just what we wanted as a couple (plus pooch). Host Chris made us very welcome and cooked a delicious breakfast each morning of our stay. Ideally located for exploring both country and coast.

Friendly dogs, hospitable host, amazing breakfasts.
Nice location for elevated walks, close to good restaurants for dinner. The cosy space was well appointed and sufficient for my needs. I enjoyed engaging with the dogs on site, but if you are not a dog person you may not appreciate that.

We had such a relaxing family holiday at this beautiful cottage with great hospitality from Chris and Deb. We stayed there over Christmas and they even put a surprise present for our 5 year old son under the Christmas tree at their house. Also, we really enjoyed our breakfast. Definitely, we are happy to stay there with them.
