Beach, Bush, and Lake, are all just a short stroll away. The park is in sheltered bushland with the Murramarang National Park on three sides. The top of our park has nostalgic-rustic cottages (2br) and standard park cabins (1br) plus a luxury van for couples. The bushland camping ground has spacious, individually crafted sites for the biggest tents and vans; and is popular with overseas visitors looking for a real Aussie camping experience. All accommodation have a wood-fired BBQ, which doubles as an open fireplace when the lid is put up. ... Wildlife: visiting through the park are kangaroos, wallabies, possums, bandicoots, and goannas. Birds: three spectacular birds abound; green & red King Parrots, red & blue Rosellas, and multi-coloured Rainbow Lorikeets. Shore birds and majestic pelicans can be found down at the lake. Activities: birdwatching, boating, bushwalking, fishing, kayaking, sailing, swimming, sunbathing, surfing, and wading in the shallows for the little ones. ... The park has a general store with regional specialities and a cafe serving coffee from locally roasted beans. Batemans Bay is 20 minutes away for town things, including a cinema for that third rainy day.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I would not recommend camping at this holiday park. The unpowered sites were wildly overpriced and you had to pay each time you wanted to shower or unlock the toilet. The owners were super controlling and would patrol the campsites watching campers. It made us feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable.

Response from Andrew and Julia, Owner at Durras Lake North Holiday Park
Responded 11 Mar 2023
Hi Amy, we notice that you have only ever made one TripAdvisor review, and that was to bag our campsites. Makes you wonder doesn’t it. Our prices of $65 for an unpowered site during peak seasons are lower than our nearby competitors who charge around $85. Obviously, we can never compete with the heavily subsidised national park campgrounds. As far as “controlling” owners, we find that almost all our guests appreciate that we patrol the campground and ensure that guests do not become rowdy and noisy. There are other places campers can go to rage, like a remote state forest. Obviously if you had brought matters to our attention whilst you were here, we could have explained things face-to-face. Maybe next time.

Stayed in one of the cabins for a bit over a week, cabin was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Owners very friendly and accomodating and serve a great coffee. We were biking, surfing and SUPing this a perfect spot for all of them, but also lovely place to just chill with friendly parrots and roos. Great value, loved it.

To say I am appalled at how this place is run by it’s management is an understatement. In these uncertain times of Covid where we are unavoidably at the hands of the government and their isolation and lockdown rules - this holiday park would like to say that they don’t care about their customers as much as they care about their own wages being paid. And as such will not even consider holding ones deposit and not only that - if you receive notification of isolation less than 7 days out from your booking, you have to pay it in full!! So lose all your money, and be spoken to like you are a criminal, hung up on and told you should have had travel insurance! For a weekend away at a caravan park? Unbelievable. Maybe they should be the ones putting insurances in place to cover their own business as it is certainly not a customers direct responsibility to pay their employees wages. And to top it off, delightful emails telling me the way I lead my life is disgusting. Have wasted my hard earned dollars on this place and not even set foot in there!! Will never ever book here, and will be sure to let people know how they treat paying customers!

Just back from three nights in this serene campground. Lyre birds, bustling fairy wrens, kangaroos, goannas & surrounded by spotted gums. If you want tranquility with no noise from other campers, no radios, no televisions, no parties then this is the place to be. Perfect for people who want a tranquil camping experience.

What a quiet, beautiful, unspoilt part of the South Coast North Durras is. The cabins are simple but clean and comfortable and it’s all about the National park, beach and wildlife. Ended up extending my break and will definitely be back

The camping area with the lovely trees was very pretty. The beach and lagoon was ideal for families. Room for improvement was the showers. Old is fine but mould is totally unacceptable. There was black between the tiles and the ladies shower floors in back section were so dirty I decided not to shower for the week we were there. I just went for a swim everyday. Old fashion camping area shouldn’t mean dirty.

Surrounded by kangaroos (watch out not to step on the poop!), beaches, hiking, and fishing nearby...its a great place. The shared bathrooms could use some cleaning. But otherwise its great. Lots of parrots/birds too.

We had a camp site for a week just after the bushfires. While we were a bit unsure, the regular email updates from Julia and Andrew convinced us that it was safe to visit and that we wouldn't be a burden to the locals. The wildlife is abundant and clearly not scared of people! The roos can start to pester for food but it's important not to feed them no matter how cute they look (see picture attached). The site is well laid out, and facilities are clean, hot showers for a small fee and drinking water for free. The cafe serves fantastic coffee, creamy and smooth - even the decaf was excellent. The staff were all unreal, very friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back.

I called to inform that we were unable to reach durras from Canberra as all the roads were closed due to the fires. I spoke to a woman with a European accent on the phone who laughed at the situation and just told me to wait a few hours for them to open the roads and then laughed and flat out denied to refund my deposit . Very unprofessional and immature I will be taking this further. Would not recommend dealing with these people.

Response from Andrew_and_Julia, Owner at Durras Lake North Holiday Park
Responded 22 Dec 2019
Hi “Jhnahfdjbf”, We don’t usually respond to anonymous reviews but in your case Adam S we will make an exception. First, you were able to get from Canberra to Durras via two, albeit, longer alternative routes – just not the normal Kings Highway. Second, when you made your booking you read and accepted the T&C – now you want to change the rules to suit yourself. Third, we would consider abuse on the telephone, trying to blackmail us with anonymous bad social media and “throwing all your toys out of the cot”, the actions of an immature person. Fourth, travel insurance is a product sometimes attached to credit cards – you should check with you bank, or consider taking it out directly on you next holiday, if you are not prepared to self-insure the non-refundable booking fee. Below, to remind you, are our T&C’s which you read without problems on three different occasions. Terms and Conditions ---------------------------------------------- Deposits - A non-refundable 30% booking fee / deposit must be made to confirm your booking. This money will be taken from your credit card when you submit with the booking. Balances - The full balance of your booking is payable upon arrival. The original booking promised is the booking to be paid for, and non-refundable in the case of early departure. Payment can be made by cash or credit card upon arrival. Cancellation Policy: Should you cancel your booking, your booking fee / deposit will not be refunded. If you do not arrive on the first day of your booking, and you have not agreed with us a changed arrival day, then the booking will be cancelled with no refund of the booking fee. NOTE: In Peak Seasons, the full balance is to be paid by you on the first day of your booked stay. Otherwise, your credit card will be charged automatically by us the outstanding balance later that day or the next. To be considered, proposed changes to arrival dates have to be agreed with us seven (7) days before your original date of arrival.
