Definitely dated and not what you’d call a nice motel but the price was good and the bed was comfortable enough. Not the cleanest motel , smelled very musty and old. Noisy neighbours and bring clothespins if you stay here because the curtains aren’t big enough to cover the window. No window covering in the bathroom either.
Host/owner was nice enough.

Room was very comfortable and nicely furnished. It was clean and comfortable. There were a few problems. The man behind the desk was not interested in our comfort and I had to go to the office 3 times to get the WIFI in order. Finally I realized that it does not have the power to do the whole motel and I had to use a cable. Also I had to make another trip to the office to get the TV to work. This same man recommended an eatery about 7 kilometers down the road which was closed when we arrived (closed regularly on Mondays). The outside of the motel was cluttered and looked very untidy. They had a restaurant in the motel which was out of service.

Thanks for the helpful comments. Because so many people are using the Internet for "streaming" nowadays we have added an additional drop to improve guest satisfaction. We have also done away with our previous cable provider and gone to a better television delivery system. Our chief concern ALWAYS is to give our guests good value and a clean room.

We arrived on PEI too late to get to our camp site so we stopped at Anchor Motel & Suites for the night. The staff and owner were fantastic and very welcoming. The room was recently renovated and was still having improvements done to it. The price was very reasonable and to our surprise it included a continental breakfast. Usually these breakfasts have very little to offer but the owner put out a fantastic spread of food including home made muffins that he kept warm in a toaster oven. I would recommend this motel to anyone and it will be our first choice for a motel if we head back to PEI for a third time.

Thank you for the kind words. My wife and I make every effort to satisfy our guest's needs and beyond. One of the first things we do after the guest has checked in is to make sure they immediately have their bearings. We want people to know where to eat, what to do, and where the best value can be obtained for their travel dollar. We are proud of our clean rooms, and our breakfasts. Thanks again.

First, let me say that I stayed at the Anchor Motel for 2 months while searching for my forever home on beautiful PEI. I am not sure where the folks that posted the previous 2 reviews have stayed previously in their travels but they are obviously not aware that all motels have different types of rooms and policies.
When I first arrived, Murray the owner showed me one of the cleanest motel rooms that I have seen in a long time. He even told me that there were 4 other motels just down the highway and on Water Street in Summerside and that I should check them out before I made my decision to stay at the Anchor Motel.
When you are renting weekly or monthly, you are usually receiving deeply discounted rates on the rooms and I had no problem with the small cleaning charge upon my departure. Again, this charge was fully explained BEFORE I agreed to rent the room and to me the small charge was totally fair and understandable. Yes, I was on my own to clean my room during my stay and do the laundry myself. Wait, I have been doing this for myself my entire life and there is a Laundromat onsite. As to the cleaning of my own room, I was provided a broom, mop, bucket, etc. in short order but requesting these items. I also received additional towels when my girlfriend arrived for a 2 week stay with me. All I had to do was ask! As far as the damage deposit goes, I paid it with no issues as there are often damage deposits when renting. I received the deposit upon checking out without delay. Remember, if you don't damage the room you have nothing to worry about.
Seriously, at the discounted weekly/monthly rates and then to expect the same level of service that we receive at the regular nightly rate is ridiculous. If you want the same level of service as full rate..............pay full rate. I know that this would have been cost prohibitive for me during my two months there if paying full rate anywhere. I have returned home for the summer and have already made arrangements to return to the Anchor Motel early in September to continue the search for my forever home. I can also say that the men in the room next to mine had been there longer than myself working on PEI and returned home to Newfoundland for the summer and are returning to the Anchor in the fall to work in the potato harvest.
There are a number of different rooms at this motel so the rates will vary from the basic weekly/monthly rate. Perhaps the cheapest room is available, perhaps not. Like any motel/hotel that I have stayed at, there are different rooms at different rates. My room had two beds, refrigerator and microwave. The room beside mine had 3 beds and a full housekeeping setup with sink, refrigerator and stove and 2 bathrooms. Other rooms had 1 bed and were in various configurations so OF COURSE the price varies.
One day I arrived back at my room after a day of house hunting to find a letter attached to my door. This was an invitation from Murray and his wife to attend a "Thank you" BBQ the next evening. Hmmm, no charge from the management for this, just a very nice surprise and this included all tenants staying there.
Unfortunately I was unable to access my other account on here which is “Brantcouple”.
Take a look and you will see that I post good reviews when deserved and negative reviews when they are called for. In my two months at the Anchor Motel I found nothing to complain about at all.

My husband and I were having a difficult time finding a place to stay near Charlottetown so decided to try locations further away near Summerside and lucked into this gem of a place for 2 nights. Murray answered the phone to take our booking and speedily checked us in upon arrival. Murray was a great host, full of information if you asked a question and friendly and accommodating without being intrusive.
We were warned that the wifi service might be slow, but just waited till later in the evening to check email and such and had no trouble with the service. Coffee making supplies were also in the room.
Do not assume that if something is not in your room, it is unavailable. Yes, this is a basic motel, but was immaculately clean and served our needs very well. We had asked when booking for a fridge and were provided a room with one. Ice was available at the Office when we asked about it, as was a hairdryer.
Breakfast is included with the price of the room and is one of the best that we have had as a "free" breakfast option. The morning croissants and muffins are fresh baked with all kinds of other choices to please one's palate. Yum!
We would certainly recommend "the Anchor Inn and Suites /Bedeque" as a comfortable and good value accomodation option when visiting that area of PEI.
A sincere thank you, Murray et al, for your kindness and hospitality!

Murray, his wife and staff are very friendly and very accommodating. We were only going to stay for a couple of days but decided to stay for the week. It is centrally located and within easy distance to many parts of the island.
The rooms are very clean.
The continental breakfast is excellent with a large selection of breads, croissants, muffins, ham, cheese, hard boiled eggs, cereals, different milks, juices and of course coffee and tea.

Thank you...how very thoughtful. Often people who were satisfied do not take the time to place a compliment; while a dissatisfied party (no matter how minor the problem) will go out of their way to magnify the issue. Your comments are very much appreciated and help provide a perspective for others. Murray and Nadia

Couldn't find vacancy with a number of hotels in Summerside so we continued driving towards the Confederation Bridge, our fingers crossed that we would find a place to stay for the night...and lucky for us, we drove into the Anchor Motel and Suites! The owner, Murray was most gracious and we were able to get a king sized bed. The room is super clean and comfortable! There is also a small restaurant on the premises and we decided to try their food as we didn't want to drive around after a long day of driving. What an amazing surprise...delicious Moroccan food cooked by Murray's wife, Nadia! Wonderful Hummus with Pita as appetizer, an amazing and original salad plate with 3 separate food selections - salad, tomatoes and cucumber in 1/3 of plate, cubed potatoes on the other 1/3 and a selection of varied veggies - peas carrots, corn on the last 3rd section. Then a fantastic plate with seafood and vermicelli wrapped in a sort of filo dough envelope. Absolutely delicious!!! Such an unexpected pleasure in any restaurant but certainly not something I expected to find in a Motel. The room was modestly prices, especially compared to other motels we've stayed at on PEI, the owners are wonderful people (they have a beautiful and precocious daughter Samantha as well!). Definitely will stay here again if we come back this way. Would recommend the Anchor Motel and their little restaurant to all my friends! Oh, breakfast and WIFI included!

My husband and I stayed here in July of 2019. While the motel is dated, it's clean and quiet. The owners are very nice and happy to make recommendations for places to eat and attractions. The included breakfast is basic but enough to get your day started. Murray's bran muffins fresh from the oven were wonderful. The motel isn't within walking distance to restaurants but Summerside is just a 10 minute drive. Our room had a king bed, sofa, fridge, microwave and coffee maker. A hairdryer was also provided which is greatly appreciated when travelling by Motorcycle! Lots of hot water and water pressure was also nice. Some small hotels have a hard time with that. We were very comfortable here and would be happy to stay there again!!

A poorly run motel with an unprofessional host, and unfortunately, understaffed. There is a bunch of "undesirable" locals that live there permanently. The office is always closed, and the owners wife wanders the outside of the motel constantly. Availabilities of rooms, are last minute and "up in the air". The host has an unfriendly, unorganized manner about him. It is located on a highway, so you will constantly hear semis and traffic, the walls are paper thin. Depending on the time of the year you go, it will smell like rotten fish and cow poop, because it is beside a farm, and down wind of it too. A motel is supposed to be a cheap place to stay, not a place you have to worry about leaving "spotless" when you leave. Avoid this motel, it gives PEI hospitality a bad name. Enjoy your tour of PEI elsewheres!

Cheap and quality service are an oxymoron. The reason we can keep our prices so low in the off season is we severely limit our staffing (hence the office is "always" closed). Our phone number is clearly posted at the entrance to the Motel and the property enjoys 24 hour service when requested. Our Office hours in the Off season are 8 AM to 6PM (also posted). Not sure what "up in the air" means so I cannot respond to that comment. Unfriendly and unorganized are rather ambivalent terms so I won't respond to that. The rest of this little diatribe is designed to damage the business. We are in the countryside and yes when the fields are fertilized there is an odor in the air. Yes we are on a highway so you could hear truck noise now and again; but rarely at night Mr. Gallant, my suggestion is this: 1) Book a City hotel, 2) Pick a brand name chain that operates a 24 hour Desk, 3) be prepared to pay for the quality you expect. Thank you for the opportunity to set this straight for you.
