Thanks for this recommendation of our rooms, facilities and services - especially for customers and guests with disability or limited mobility who can visit or stay in the easily-accessible, ground-floor, courtyard area. As you say, smoking is only allowed in the designated garage area - where there are two benches and proper ashtrays - away from rooms, other public areas,...

After a positive drinks only visit we decided to try the food. £15 for a fish pie & £4 for less than a dozen chips was far too much for a bar that was more of a local than a hotel. Standard of food and surroundings should have been half the price. Pretentious is not overstating it as the food...

We are sorry if you think our food offering failed to live up to your drinks-only visit. We are a 3-star, AA Rosette hotel with a lovely lounge, elegant restaurant, and public bar, where only the best local ingredients - including fish for pies and potatoes for hand-cut chunky chips - are freshly prepared, home-made, cooked to order, and served...

Just returned from a weekend at Port Madog, staying at this hotel. Very good service, great location and free parking. Also has a well stocked bar and restaurant with sitting room with open fire if you don't want to sit in the bar. Free wifi with good coverage. Evening meal and breakfast was very good and served by polite and...

We are very happy to hear you enjoyed our location, parking, WIFI, service, food and friendly staff during your weekend break! Many do upgrade to a larger room - though our standard ones in both the Courtyard and main building are AA 3-star approved for their size - for a reasonable supplement, and all our rooms are similarly highly equipped...

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of a bigger family party. We were allocated the patio rooms which are small doubles. Perfectly adequate in size although a little tired and not very quiet (we could hear the next room TV and noisy guests across the hall) but they are ground floor which was good for our elderly relative....

We remember your family party very well and are delighted you chose to stay and dine with us as part of the birthday celebrations in Porthmadog! We are happy we were able to resolve the heating issue, and would have been more than willing to resolve the others re any disturbance had you told reception of them at the time....

Stayed in the Royal Sportsman for a couple of days. The room was very clean, tidy and cosy. The bathroom was very clean. The staff at this hotel, from the manager to the housekeeping staff were very polite friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble for them. I had a bad back whilst we were there and they...

Thanks so much for such a wonderful review! We are thrilled you agree our staff, rooms, parking and food are all of the highest standards, and that you thoroughly enjoyed your winter break away. As winter voucher offer guests, your room with Continental and full-cooked breakfast was well below normal half-price, and your AA Rosette food was discounted by 10%...

Comfortable stay with my husband who booked this hotel as a base for a trip on the Welsh Highland Line. Our room was located in the main building towards the back where we experienced very little road noise and slept well. I am unable to comment on the annexe accommodation. Dined in the hotel the first evening. Very nice meal...

Wonderful that, like so many customers/guests who come to Porthmadog to enjoy the world's capital for narrow-gauge railways - you enjoyed and appreciated every aspect of our highly-rated AA hospitality! We pride ourselves on excellent facilities, service and food, and so are delighted you would stay again and have recommended us to so many others. . .

Popped by on the off chance for Sunday lunch as our kitchen was undergoing a refurb. Craig, the front of house, was so very attentive and went way beyond the call of duty, nothing was too much trouble. The meal was superb; good quality meat and vegetables, cooked to perfection. Portions were huge, so make sure you are hungry when...

Well, what can we say, except thanks for appreciating and recommending our attentive staff and superb quality and quantity of local and freshly-cooked food! Very few manage to eat more than one course of our Roast Sunday Lunch at just £10.95 per adult and £6.95 per child, though we do offer starters and/or sweets from our Traditional Classics menu for...

Always a pleasure to welcome young families, especially those so discerning as to appreciate the Victorian character of our hotel, the traditional hospitality we offer, the quality of our rooms and food, and the prime location in Porthmadog High Street - at the gateway to stunning Snowdonia and lovely Llyn - for local amenities and world-class attractions/activities!
