Spontaneous hop across, courtesy of CalMac, from Portavadie. Got talking to a lady on ferry who was lunching here. Given that info in the particular Tarbert is thin on the ground I decided to give it a try too. Opted for the langoustines and scallops, seafood this good is regrettably scarce on this island on plenty, bizarrely. Can neither fault...

The hotel is small and very well decorated, all modern and clean decor. The barge boat was very quirky, beautifully decorated and cosey. We had the best room on board and the...

We had missed the ferry to the Island of Islay and decided to stop here the night. Tarbert is a lovely harbour village with a couple of pubs, restaurants, cafes, supermarket, art galleries etc. We arrived on the Sunday evening at the end of a weekend of a music festival and the place was pumping and we had a great...

Stayed over at the Anchor for the first time on Wednesday night having disembarked from the 8pm Islay ferry. There was a pleasant atmosphere emanating from the Seabed Restaurant adjacent to the reception. The check in was quick, efficient and helpful. I had assistance with bags to my room. The room was clean and comfy...what more do you need for...
