I booked 6 rooms for a recent family birthday weekend stay at the George inn and it was wonderful. The Inn is listed and has so much history and although the rooms are all different they were clean and comfortable. We had two evening meals there and the menu offered a good choice including roast dinner the sunday evening. Staff...

First of all id like to say i would never normally go to the effort of writing a review but the shear fact of the service being so terrible i would hate for other people to experience what we did, my partner and i went for dinner... we Turned up 10 minutes late which was our fault, however we did...

Fantastic sandwiches made with homemade fresh bread. Good choice of fresh fillings - the bacon was exceptional. Ordered some 'cheesy chips' too - they were fantastic. One of our party ordered ham egg and chips - again fab chips but the ham was the star of the show, cooked on the premises and cut nice and thick

We don't stay, but have been here before (many times!). It is the location for us. Setting off for North or South Devon (to visit relations) from South London, mid-morning, and choosing the M3 A303 route for either destination (a far more pleasant journey than the alternative despite the hold-ups) Mere is the ideal stopping-off point for lunch, and having...

This is a good place to stop for lunch and take a break from the 303. It's not great but there is plenty of seating, a reasonable menu, friendly and welcoming staff. Enough parking too. Food is served quickly and is well presented. Wifi in the pub itself - you have to sign up for 30 mins free. Easier to...

Went in for a lunchtime meal with some friends. We had 4 different meals and a starter between us. Meals took along time to arrive, so we assumed freshly cooked . But all four were dry, and desiccated as though they had been in a warming oven for a while. My beef goulash was on the cold side though and...

Situated a few minutes drive off the A303, this pub is centrally located in the village of Mere and offers an extensive menu with a good selection of local beers and wine. We stayed in Room 2 which was large and very well appointed. The only small drawback was the church clock striking on the Hour! However, our evening meal...

I just felt I had to let you know that I have stayed at and eaten over many years when traveling in the area and when I saw the comments made by the disappointment on ordering ham and chips this a restraint with vast range of meals and I can really recommend eating I recommend if your heights are ham...
