My husband and I love this place so much that this is actually our fourth visit in as many years. Superbly comfortable rooms and wonderful food; we have started visiting when we know that the weather is likely to be rotten so that we feel less guilty about curling up with a book in front of the fire in the... We have eaten here only twice but both visits were a pleasure. On both occasions we have had three courses, although bar snacks are also available. The flavour of the menu is traditional with a modern twist. They also catered well for a food intolerance. We shared the rib of beef on our first visit, which was delicious and more... More

Our two daughters purchased a stay at the Crown. A brilliant choice, the room (12 ) an executive room was pleasantly furnished, very comfy bed and pillows. One problem which we couldn't solve was the heat in the room, tried turning down the thermostat in the room which would have worked a treat if only we could have turned down... More

We stayed here about 9 years ago, pre children, and revisited last week for a quick get away from Norfolk. Really lovely stay. Comfortable room, very welcoming staff, gentle, polite and professional. My main reason for this review is to sing the praises of the very clever chef who created the magnificent pudding 'Cafe Creme'. Oh my God, what a... More

I just recently stayed at The Crown as I traveled for business with my boss, who is a regular at the hotel. Well I can see why now after a week long visit. What a great place to stay. Just a quaint little place that is perfect for anyone. The rooms are great. Modern and clean with everything you need... More

A beautiful hotel with friendly, welcoming staff. All the bedrooms were tastefully decorated and exceptionally well appointed with crisp linen and lovely furniture. The beds were extremely comfortable. The breakfasts and evening meals were excellent. I would love to stay at this hotel again if visiting Suffolk. It was very well positioned for visiting local attractions at Lavenham, Finchingfield and... More

Excellent on all counts. Beautiful building, sympathetically renovated in a pretty village. Discreet service which makes you feel welcome, special, and that nothing is too much trouble. Absolutely delicious supper of shared rib of local beef with all the trimmings. Cosy (but not small, the very opposite) and tasteful bedroom with an extremely comfortable bed (Room 9). All topped off... More

Really attractive village centre hotel with an excellent restaurant. The building is an old merchant house with modern extensions, we had room 8 which was a superior room with a beautiful open fireplace. Comfortable bed and well equipped bathroom. Free bottled water, tea and coffee making facilities. Restaurant was top class for breakfast and dinner. The bar was slightly rowdy... More

Lovely hotel with excellent decor and such friendly staff. Very comfortable rooms, apart from the low door frames which could do with raising, or padding! Breakfast and dinner were also excellent, and staff were really helpful with a coeliac diet. I was disappointed the rooms didn't have nicer coffee given the quality of the rest of the hotel. Would definitely... More
