We have traveled the world and stayed in places from awful to top of the line. Firstly, you need to remember this wonderful place is not 5 star, nor is the price. Oscar and Marie are great hosts/owners and the facilities are from the late 1800’s. we had a great experience with every detail carefully managed. We only wish the weather had been more cooperative and we could have easily spent a few days here. We would highly recommend Vila Duparchy to anyone if you like a quiet, very home style feeling.

We had just one night in Luso at the end of a brief winter visit to Portugal, and booked Villa Duparchy on a personal recommendation. It's a quiet, gracious looking old pink villa set in a peaceful secluded mature park behind a high wall next to the main road. We were met at the door by the owner who gave us a very friendly welcome and took care to ensure our comfort, bringing an extra radiator to the room when we mentioned the chilly weather. The room was clean, comfortable and very spacious, with an enormous bathroom, and like the rest of the villa had lovely antique furniture and chandeliers. The swimming pool in the garden looked nice for the summer, and our kindly host was happy to advise on local restaurants and visiting the beautiful historic palace at Bussaco, Breakfast was very good with cold meat, cheese, fresh bread, fruit, yogurt and the all-important refills of coffee. Would not hesitate to recommend for the lovely hospitality and peaceful old fashioned country house atmosphere.

We stumbled on this gem of a place by accident. We drove up the winding driveway, and we weren't quite sure what we were going to find. We found a beautiful old style Country House, complete with gardens, vegetable plots, swimming pool, and the most gorgeous bedrooms you could imagine. Our hosts were were a lovely couple, and recommended a couple of great restaurants in town. They even offered to drop us into town if we didn't fancy the 700 meter walk. Breakfast was great - eggs, poached to perfection, as well as the usual continental style breakfast, and home made breads and jam. We loved it so much that we stayed a second night.

We enjoyed staying at this place very much. It was really a peaceful and relaxing place. The room had old fashion furniture, just like the old time but also very comfortable. The breakfast was very good. We could also use the swimming pool. We can recommend this place to our best friends. Close to the Bocaco forest and not far from Coimbra.

We stayed in July 2009 in Villa Duparchy. It is a quiet place with a nice pool. The owner is very friendly and gave good advice on restaurants and places to visit. The rooms were clean and in the style of old portugese houses. Exactly what we were looking for. The bathroom was large. Breakfast was simple, but all things fresh and prepared with love. In short : the cost performance relation is excellent. We will definetly go back, when in the area.
