Four of us recently spent 3 nights at this inn. I cannot say enough good things about our stay. The building itself is old / quaint and spotless - meticulously cared for - and decorated with very interesting art and antiques. Altino is a fantastic host - so personable and eager to please. The location is excellent for visiting the Alentejo area. Our time here was the highlight of our trip to Portugal. I highly recommend a stay here.

We spent a wonderful 3 nights at Casa de Terena. We were hosted by an amazing guy, Altino, who was the perfect country host. The rooms are comfortable and the setting romantic. Breakfast each morning was delicious and sociable. Altino met our every need and gave us great advice on places to experience the area, including a delicious, simple traditional meal at the local restaurant (very low key, great value under €10 for both of us!). We also took Altino's recommendation and spent a romantic evening watching the sunset at the nearby lake, while enjoying a simple cheese and wine picnic. Evening walks through the old town of Terena were peaceful and sitting in the street opposite the Casa de Terena were particularly enjoyable. We highly recommend staying a couple of nights here!

This historical casa is lovely; set in a quiet, slow-paced, very beautiful walled area of the old city, you can stroll around the old town, visit the castle a mere steps away,or easily walk to the new town. I can't say enough about our super host, Altinho. He is committed to Alentejo history and culture, and is very informative and helpful. He was so welcoming, made the casa our home with a fire in the evening in the parlour, set out a great daily breakfast with his homemade jams and muffins. One night he assisted us by walking to the local bar/restaurant, Botas, and helped us order; he graciously joined us for dinner, and his company was really enjoyable. Do treat yourself to one of his dinners: one evening he prepared an amazing multi-coursed, Alentejo style, dinner for us that was superb. He will make suggestions based on your personal tastes, and our meal was very memorable! He is a GREAT cook. It is also very easy to explore the many areas easily accessible from Terena: castles at Monsaraz, Mourao, Alandroal, the Fort at Juromenha...lots of menhirs within the general area, and pottery in Corval. So much to see. We spent three nights there, and will gladly return to continue exploring. We wouldn't consider staying anywhere else: Casa de Terena and Altinho are gems!!!

I just spent two wonderful days at Casa de Terena and thoroughly enjoyed the visit. Altino, the gracious host, served delicious breakfast and a wonderful dinner. I also had a chance to the castle and the charming village. Could easily spend more time in this homely atmosphere.

Built on a hill in the "old village", ( the young village is over 100 years old), this historic building has fantastic history. Think walls great view, and marble stairs pillaged from a roman ruin. The rooms are fantastic comfortable and on suite and the hospitality is legendary. Cobbled streets, 50 metres from the old castle walls, this is the best kept secrete
