We stayed here as part of a group of 12 people in June 2015. The accommodation was outstanding and the villa host, Paolo was excellent with his recommendations, bookings and answering any questions we had. Paolo organised a private chef, a private tour for two of our party and even took time out of his day to pick a group...

We were a party of 13 people that rented this B&B. The owner Paolo was a great host and if we did have any questions at all he helped us out. He did everything from arranging a trip to a local vinery, ordering and bringing a cake for a 20 years celebration, arranging a chef to come over and make...

Amazing location with my incredible history- check out the castle and the path to the valley. Just put the location in your GPS and it's worth in extra 10 min. Out of Modica. Paulo and his family were incredible hosts. The breakfast was truly a highlight with his mother's special treats.

We stayed at Casa al Castello for two nights in September. The property itself is quite beautiful and you couldn't ask for a more peaceful location to just read a book and enjoy. It is about a 15 minute drive from the town of Modica and while there isn't much around, two visits to Casa Ciomod for dinner were well...

Dramatic location and fun to explore the ravine. Super breakfast. Clean and well appointed rooms. Considerate and helpful host. Would return and highly recommended. Note: Good restaurants in nearby towns but you need to drive.

We enjoyed our stay during 5 nights at the recent builded Casa al Castello very well. Located in a rural area at the edge of an breathtaking green canyon. Charming baroque cities in the neighborhood (Modica, Scicli, Ragusa, Noto, ..). Modern, well equipped, very clean and spacious rooms. The breakfast is very extensive with very tasteful regional food and drinks!...

This had been one of our best visits to Sicily. Casa el Castello is a wonderful place on top of a beautiful valley. The rooms large and clean. They also prepared one of the nicest breakfast we had. We really enjoy the cakes made by the family. We also want to thank Paolo for his great support and kindness and...

Arriving only by Gps coordinates at night, we didn't even imagine that the morning sun would open to us an astonishing room view on the surrounding green garden, blue pool and a mysterious historical gorge, combined with only quiet far away sounds and soothing mediteranean scents. The sleep and the wake-up process was amazingly comfortable (quiet and dark room, good...

There is little point in repeating what others have said. It is all true -Paolo and family, the welcome, the uncluttered rooms with mini bar priced almost at supermarket level, the breakfasts, the pool an the edge of an otherworldly gorge- everything thought of with you and your comfort in mind. Just a few anecdotes to share. Italy had beaten...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
"Casa al Castello" is a charming and comfortable guest house, located in the famous area of Val di Noto, cradle of the late-baroque art and architecture, more exactly in the land of Modica, city part of the UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE LIST. The house lies on a rocky spur over the suggestive rupestral construction of so-called "Castello" ("THE CASTLE"), in a such singular as exclusive position. The building overlooks the well-known Cava d'Ispica, a long rocky valley (for about 13 Km) that preserves numberless archaeological testimonies and contains important species of the Mediterranean flora and fauna (it's an area SCI: SITE OF COMMUNITY IMPORTANCE). The location of our house allows to easily reach the golden beaches of Pozzallo, Sampieri, S. Lorenzo, Cala Mosche, as well as the natural oisis of Vendicari and also the Southern extremity of Sicily with its sea town of Portopalo of Capo Passero (at a distance of about 15-35 Km). From here it's also easy to reach the charming baroque-cities of Ragusa, Scicli and Noto (at about 15-30 Km). The house, at its origin, residence for the sharecroppers, has been restored using natural construction materials, typical for this zone, as dry-stone and wood; now it includes six comfortable rooms, each of them with private entrance and bathroom, air conditioning and all connected to the large terrace from where you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view over the entire cave. Our swimming-pool will refresh your stay during the hottest summer days, assuring you in the same time relaxation and well-being. You can also enjoy with fee the inviting outdoor Hot Tub, located on a rocky spur overlooking the valley: just a few meters of rock will separate you from the cliff. Breakfast is served in the breakfast room or in the nice garden. Service food available provided by our catering partner (dinner only and on reservation the very morning only). The nearest restaurants and pizzerias are located at a distance of about 5 Km from our guest house as well as a shopping center where you can find a supermarket and other different shops. The atmosphere of peace and innate calm that dominates this charming place, embedded in the middle of this spectacular nature exactly like a pearl of rare beauty, will revive and guide you, at the same time, to discover again the lost meaning by now of the concept of slow-living. ... more   less
