We arrived late Oct 23 from the station at Ella. We called Nilu and she advised tuk tuk 500r,less than 10mins. On arrival Nilu warmly greeted us with a real pot of tea and plate of biscuits. The view from our balcony was stunning, in clear or misty weather. The room was large and bed comfortable, shower solar heated, hot water plentiful. Everything was spotless and Nilu provided us with soft pillows, she explained some guests like soft and some harder. Breakfast was plentiful varied and delicious. Nilu was only to happy help in any way,she spoke good English.Access to Ella was an easy level walk partially along train tracks. There was some construction work happening which Nilu explained necessity of and apologised. It was not inconvenient for us as we explored local sights during day. We even stayed an extra day and would have stayed longer if we could. Would absolutely recommend this wonderful guest house.

The great reviews for Chamodya are well deserved. The hosts are so welcoming and helpful. The room is lovely and clean and comfortable with the most fantastic views across to the waterfall and down the valley. There is no AC here but in January we did not find this a problem and the room stayed cool. The typical Sri Lankan breakfast is just wonderful and the homemade rice and curry a must try. So much food and so lovingly cooked. It is quiet as it not in the main Ella street but it’s only a 10 minute walk to the centre or a tuk tuk for R500. Please don’t be put off that it’s not on the Main Street this is not a problem. The landlady arranged all local tuk tuk for us and a driver for the day to see all the local sights for a very reasonable price. Highly recommended, excellent homestay for a great price.

Waking up in the morning with this fantastic view is a unique experience. The accommodation can be reached via a winding road from Ella. You can reach the town in just a few minutes on foot along the railway line. Ella itself is a bustling little town with a great atmosphere, where you will find lots of tourists. This does not detract from the charm of the place. The accommodation is located above the town, away from the hustle and bustle. The room is spacious and super clean. A kettle would have been nice, but the landlady is always ready to make a cup of tea, which we didn't even have to pay for. We felt incredibly comfortable and would recommend this accommodation to anyone visiting Sri Lanka.

This place is a gem! It’s a short walk from town, with a beautiful view overlooking the valley and a waterfall, the family is lovely, rooms cute and very clean, hot shower, and a huge, delicious breakfast with local dishes and fruit, eggs etc that changed everyday. The only downside was the poor Wifi but they can’t be faulted for this as e Wifi isn’t great throughout the town. We loved our stay and highly recommend!

We received a warm welcome on arrival, and after a long train journey we were delighted to be served tea and biscuits on the dining balcony, which has beautiful extensive views across the valley. Dinner and breakfast were excellent. The room was spacious, basic but very clean, quite dimly lit, and located high above on the opposite side of the road up a long flight of steep steps. However our luggage was taken up and brought down for us.

We stayed with this warm and generous family in their homestay for two nights. You are left with total privacy when wanted but there is always someone on hand to help should you need it. The views are spectacular and the breakfast was delicious. A short ten minute walk on the train tracks to town. Recommended!

Charming homestay, very friendly host and amazing breakfast overlooking a wonderful view of Ella rock. We had four courses plus freshly squeezed juice and tea/coffee. Chomodya feels very peaceful and serene but is a mere 7 minutes walk from the bustling centre. The rooms are clean and spacious and the en-suite bathrooms have hot water showers.

Amazing place to stay which is great value for money. We ended up extending our stay here as we loved it so much. The host is amazing and kind and gave very good information regarding busses and arranged transport for us. The room was very big, with fridge and fan and the bathroom had hot water. The view in the morning was stunning and we ate our breakfast with a beautiful view. Would highly recommend staying here at Chamodya

We were there for 5 nights and what a fabulous place!
The room was clean and spacious and the view from the restaurant area is perfect. You can see the waterfalls running down the mountain side. The family who runs this place is really nice and has been really helpful and made us feel welcomed.

Chamodya Home Stay in Ella is perfectly located from the center. The views are incredible, from the restaurant and from the rooms. All the place has a wonderful decoration style and they grow a lot of vegetables and flowers. Everything is clean, the rooms are comfortable and big and you can have hot water! The family is super kind and they made us feel like at home. Also we cannot forget that they were helping a lot of turist stuck in Ella during the Corona problem, providing them free accommodation and food. Resuming is the perfect place! Thanks so much, ආයුබෝවන්!

HI, it is very easy to get tuk tucks to and from town, they cost around 300 rupees. Nilu, the homestay owner will order you one when you need one and there are so many to hail in town and by the station you will have no trouble. And it is such a great place to stay.
It is a lovely walk along the tracks - we only did this during daylight as we ate at the homestay (the food is the best). There are many people walking along the tracks throughout the day as it is the route to Ella Rock so you will rarely be alone.
It is only about a 15 to 20 minute walk into the centre of town via the tracks. There is a path next to the tracks so you do not have to walk on the rails and you will hear the trains coming from a way away so it is a good option.
There are more places to choose from in the Ella area.
