It hard to get much better than this. The main selling point of this hotel is the view- what a view! Not only are they lucky enough to be positioned in one of the most beautiful settings I've ever been, the hotel is built with consideration and sympathy for their surroundings. Every room has at least a decent view of the Ella gap, as does the restaurant and outdoor seating areas. I could not stop staring at the view! The pool is nestled into the forest, surrounded by trees and nature. From check-in to check-out the staff were friendly, helpful, polite. Before we arrived they sent a whatsapp to check if we had any questions or requests- which was helpful as we could confirm how much a tuk tuk should cost from the train station. On arrival from an 8hr train journey they gave us refreshing wipes (which came away brown after hanging out of the train carriage) and a welcome drink. The room was not huge but very well considered for the space. The shower was big and strong, there was enough space for luggage and a small balcony (again with the view). As this is quite a new hotel, the finish on everything was really fresh and well done. Everything felt very new and stylish. Apart from some of our towels were a bit ratty. It is a bit of a pain walking up the hill to get to the hotel, but its not far from the main street and restaurants but far enough that it is very quiet and peaceful. The main thing that lets this place down is the food on offer. On the first night we had dinner in the restaurant. I felt that the menu was a bit too extensive, they should reduce the number of things they do and do them well. I had vietnamese Pho which was like no Pho I've ever had. And spring rolls that were just fine. I would have liked to see more really well-cooked Sri Lankan food. The same with the buffet breakfast, it was very western buffet (there was a small selection of curry and rotis etc but still luke-warm buffet style). Watery scrambled eggs, undercooked potatoes and about 6 differnt types of cake. I would have loved some fresh egg hoppers every morning! Despite this, it was amazing value for the quality of the hotel and I would not hesitate to stay here again!

We stayed at Hide Ella for 2 nights and really enjoyed our time there. The hotel is modern and trendy, which was a refreshing change from the more traditional-style hotels we had stayed in throughout Sri Lanka.
The staff was very friendly and one of the managers kindly helped us arrange a tuk-tuk tour to visit local highlights, as well as a private transfer to our next destination.
We stayed in a deluxe room on the basement floor, right next to the beautiful pool. However, we didn’t realize beforehand that there’s an entrance fee to use the pool, with packages available for access to the sauna and steam room as well. The hotel also has a small entertainment area with a billiard table, foosball, and a dartboard, which was a fun (free) touch.
Our room overlooked the valley with Ella’s Rock on one side and Little Adam’s Peak on the other. Occasionally, we had a visit from a toque macaque on our balcony, which made for a great view! The facilities were clean and well-kept, though we found the bed/mattress a bit too firm for our preference.
The skybar and dining area provided spectacular views, with a wide variety of dishes to choose from. Breakfast was served buffet-style with plenty of options, including an omelet station. The staff were particularly kind to us, a special thanks to Waruna, Vino and Lahiru for their service.
In terms of location; Hide Ella is located on top of a hill, offering breathtaking views while still being quite accessible. It’s just a 4-minute walk downhill to the main street where you will find shops, supermarkets, multiple ATM’s and restaurants. Uphill might take a minute or two longer.
Overall, Hide Ella was a lovely, modern alternative to the traditional hotels in Sri Lanka, and we would highly recommend it for its friendly service and stunning views!

Pleasant and charming service all the way. Room service was quick n assuring, restaurant servers were quietly attentive, especially Vino, Chamil, Sujee & Lahiyu. We requested our Papaya to be cut n served at dinner, they did it so willingly.

We stayed here for 1 night of a 9 night tour of Sri Lanka. The hotel is very modern and has spectacular views of Ella gap. It is located up a steep hill from Ella centre. I would suggest getting a tuk tuk into town and back which is about 500 rupees each way. Ella is quite lively with lots of bars, shops and restaurants. The room is pretty small, I think our terrace had the same floor space as the room! But it was well appointed, although the mattress was very hard. We had a bbq for dinner here on the half board basis and it was good food. The breakfast was very disappointing, it was served outside at the back of the hotel rather than being served in the hotel restaurant which has the view, which let’s face it is what you’re paying for here. It was quite cold outside at that time of the morning so the food and drink got cold quickly. When we checked in I was under the understanding that we would have a choice of venue for breakfast but when it came to it we were forced outside as nothing was happening upstairs. Hopefully management will take this onboard and give customers what they want (the view) in future.

The views at the hotel are great, very nice views from everywhere. We stayed in the premium room. The location is very handy - just a 5 minute walk to the restaurants and cafes, yet quiet. The rooms were quiet. The breakfast area outside by the pool was nice as was the breakfast area in the sky bar room. The Sri Lankan breakfast was nice for a small hotel, though only western options were given on one of the days due to preferences from a large tour group. The chef was always checking with the guests how the food was which was nice. The staff at this hotel were exceptional - very helpful and very friendly. The rooms were very clean. The only letdown in this hotel is the quality of the furnishings and fixtures in the room - seemed like cheap quality construction and very small rooms at a very high price compared to other similar priced properties in Sri Lanka. The bed was also not particularly comfortable and squeaky which one does not expect for this price. However there are little alternatives currently in Ella, other than one other hotel with excessively high prices, or more homestay, rustic type options. The place grows on you and really it's the views and the staff, and the location that make it a nice place to stay overall.

One of the best views ever from a hotel room, looking out over the hills and verdant landscape with lots of birdlife and monkeys to spot. The room was very comfortable, and the food in the restaurant was excellent. We also enjoyed using the pool surrounded by trees, and the location near the main street in Ella was good though the road to the hotel was a challenge for our driver. Some tuk tuk drivers also refused to take us there.

Hide Ella is a lovely boutique hotel tucked away in the beautiful hills of Ella, with stunning views and a super relaxing vibe. We stopped by for high tea and absolutely loved it. The spread had a great mix of tasty sandwiches, yummy pastries, and other light snacks, all paired with a lovely pot of Ceylon tea. Everything was beautifully presented, and the staff were really friendly and attentive. The location is so peaceful, making it a perfect spot to chill and enjoy the scenery. If you’re in Ella, this is a great place to treat yourself to a relaxing afternoon.

Hide Ella has a great and friendly staff ready to assist and welcome you at any given time. It is a place of accommodation with a relatively modern infrastructure and is located at the heart to nearby tourist destinations.
With a good 15 min walk you can reach the main gate to Ella train station and descending some 100 stairs you can see the famous 9 Arch Bridge. It is also close by to some amazing cafe places nearby.
However make sure to have your dinner at Hide Ella for 1 night to experience the rich platter of food they serve. Some food recommendations are to ask for coconut chutney for breakfast, chicken soup for dinner, pineapple chicken salad, white wine and appam.
They have plenty many other leisure retreats such as Jacuzzi, Sauna Room, Swimming Pool and Spa services at very reasonably nominal prices.
It is a must visit stay to experience Ella more leisurely. The hotel is dedicated to make your stay in Ella more comfortable and memorable.

1) Great location, although after a steep hill to climb if you don’t have transport. However, plenty of tuk tuks available from Ella town. It’s only a short distance from Ella railway station-if you turn left at the hotel and then right on the railway tracks(don’t worry, you can walk on the railway tracks which I found a lot of local people doing as there are hardly any trains for long periods and they will hoot you when they see you-fascinating walking on the railway tracks)the town centre is within a 10 minute walking distance. 2) There are a lot of restaurants/bars to drink and eat in Ella town if you are on b&b. 3) There is a set menu for dinner if you’re on HB and although the options are limited, you can ask for something from a la carte menu if you don’t like the set menu. 4) Any house keeping issues are quickly resolved(we had an issue with hot water in the bathroom sink, but this was dealt with quickly)
