Waterfall Homestay, perched on top of a hill, directly in front of the Little Ravana waterfall and surrounded by jungle makes this one of the most stunning places in Ella to stay. Choose from three beautiful rooms, two with 180 degree views and one with french doors opening on to a large veranda. Waterfalls Homestay is not just another guest house in Ella with a view. It is a relaxing, friendly paradise where you will feel truely at home. And only 1.5km from the town of Ella makes it definitely worth venturing off the beaten track for.

I stayed just 2 nights at Waterfalls and wished it could have been longer! A gorgeous, peaceful and characterful homestay, Kiah was the perfect host and the whole team were delightful. I absolutely loved the Jungle room with stunning view, breakfasts were fabulous and the whole verandah and shared spaces just perfect for relaxing. Next door's 'spice girls' curry was delicious and excellent value, and the Waterfalls sunset pizza absolutely delicious. Great tips for local hikes and other places to visit. Thank you Kiah, highly recommend. :-) Kate

Staying here could ruin your holiday as any other accommodation will seem totally inferior in comparison. Read the other reviews; most have the eloquence I can not even begin to compete with. Breakfasts were excellent and the neighbouring home stay provided a good rice and curry. Kiah was the perfect hostess. I must add my thanks to her parents ( who were away at the time) for allowing guests to share their wonderful home.

I endorse all the good reviews listed here, so I will keep mine short. The best; the well appointed and spacious Verandah room, the location and view, the communal area, the breakfasts (and pizza on one occasion) and especially Kiah and her staff who were always so welcoming, delightful and helpful. Twice during our 4 night stay we had dinner next door at Waterfall View, it was the best rice and curry (7 dishes) of our trip.

We stayed here for 3 nights in February and was the perfect spot to explore Ella. Situated up a quiet, hilly road, about 15 minutes walk to the main drag. It is in a beautiful location, overlooking a big waterfall, which was sadly a trickle when we were there but still a fantastic view. We had the studio room at the side of the house up some steep steps, which was light, airy and homely with lots of books and the families personal effects. Definitely made you feel like you were a guest in their home. Karen and Kaia made us feel very welcome when we arrived and gave us a helpful map of some of the walks around Ella. My partner enjoyed his daily cricket chats with Martin. Breakfast, served on the terrace was awesome, the curd, breads and locally made jams were outstanding. …

I was recommended this place by a colleague at work, and luckily it was available for a couple of nights. Karen, Martin and Kaia (daughter) were wonderfully open and very inviting - it was like staying with family. Karen even baked is a surprise anniversary cake! We stayed in the jungle room which had 180 degrees views of Ella valley and waterfall. Communal breakfast spread was lovely too where you got to meet and chat to other travellers. The place is stunning, but the people who run it make it outstanding! They only have four rooms, and you can only book via email directly with Karen, so make sure you book in advance.

Beautiful place, blissful experience. We stayed in the brand new garden room, very nicely appointed. Stunning view of Kithal Ella Falls, mountains and the lush valley. The breakfasts were amazing. Super fresh and smooth buffalo yogurt/curd, fresh fruit, the best friend oyster mushrooms ever on delicious eggs, a selection of muffins and perfectly toasted bread with very special Amba estates jams and premium artisan organic tea, also from Amba. Kia was there perfect hostess, friendly, helpful and informative.

Firsts off, Karen and Martin were great hosts, totally in tune with the area and incredibly friendly, helpful and patient. Our room, the studio, was so light and comfortable. We had a couple of the best nights sleep since we arrived in Sri Lanka two weeks previously. Karen said it was because of the night temperature - a perfect 17-18 degrees. Who needs air con? Breakfast was a real treat, with home made bread, jams, muffins, eggs of the day - it was a real treat. When we arrived by car, we thought that the walk back into Ella would take forever, but it was a lovely 15 minute stroll. Karen was really helpful in suggesting a walk up to Little Adam’s Peak, then back via the cafe at 98 Acre resort (another treat) and on to the nine arch bridge and along the railway into…

My husband and I stayed in the Jungle room which felt as if we were in a tree house with our private view of this beautiful landscape. The hosts were extremely welcoming and were readily on hand to provide advice and refreshments. Communal breakfasts of fresh fruits, curd and treacle followed by some tasty egg dishes, left us feeling relaxed and ready to explore Little Adams Peak and take part in a local cookery class recommended by the host. The restaurant behind the homestay served the best rice and curry meal we had during our visit to Sri Lanka. Highly recommend this accommodation.

This place is beautiful and wonderfully managed... Karen , Martin and Kiah are excellent hosts. The house is relaxed and delightfully decorated with a great veranda view of the waterfalls. Breakfasts live up to previous hype.. try the ginger and mango jam with Karen’s no knead ( so lazy) bread... gorgeous. Can’t imagine a better time in Ella... a peaceful respite from the thriving town centre.... thank you possums, it was great indeed

This place is simply fantastic. There are many reasons for this. The hosts are a fantastic Australian family who made me feel very welcome as a solo traveller.........The views are amazing from your room overlooking the natural beauty of Ella including a Waterfall..........The breakfast which is included in the room rate is very generous, delicious bread, muffins, Fruits, Curds and a choice of eggs. Absolute first class and a must if you stay in Ella.
