Waterfall Homestay, perched on top of a hill, directly in front of the Little Ravana waterfall and surrounded by jungle makes this one of the most stunning places in Ella to stay. Choose from three beautiful rooms, two with 180 degree views and one with french doors opening on to a large veranda. Waterfalls Homestay is not just another guest house in Ella with a view. It is a relaxing, friendly paradise where you will feel truely at home. And only 1.5km from the town of Ella makes it definitely worth venturing off the beaten track for.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Set amongst the trees the house has a great view facing the waterfalls and valley. A big deck allows a great space to read, relax and have breakfast. Lovely hosts and helpful with local knowledge. We would definitely stay again.

I had high expectations for our stay in Ella and Waterfall Homestay. Kiah and her team were absolutely amazing, welcoming and helpful. My expectations were surpassed in every way. In fact I do not have the words to convey what a great experience we had. From the most delicious breakfasts whipped up by Raja, to the cute fluffy animals, the breathtaking views and the warm hospitality. They are doing everything right and I will recommend this homestay to anyone going to Sri Lanka. All the best guys, we already miss your little piece of heaven and fear nothing else will compare.

Would highly recommend this place for folks looking for a home stay experience with comfort, good views and great food.. The place gets covered in mist at times and seems like you are sitting in the clouds. When there is no mist, you can see the waterfall from the sitting deck.. We had breakfast and dinner there.. Authentic Sri Lankan vegetarian dishes the first night and amazing pizza's the 2nd night. Karen and family are a great host.. Points to note: 1. Some of the rooms have only a curtain (no door) to separate the bathroom from the room 2. Access to the homestay is a little tricky. Your car driver may be reluctant to drive up. Best to rent a tuk tuk from main road (LKR 300) to get there..

Wow, very positive place here. Karen and her family/staff members are super friendly hosts. The rooms are spacious and with a cosy atmosphere. The view to the waterfalls and jungle simply gorgeous. We would rather have booked one more day here than in Kandy. Homestay Waterfalls deserves a full 5 star rating. Thanks again for your hospitality.

A wonderful couple of nights spent here; with the soothing sounds of the waterfall and the lush canopy of the jungle. The walk to Little Adam’s Peak, 9 Arches and back, was great fun and the nightlife in Ella was exciting. Great hospitality and friendly team. A most memorable adventure. Thank-you.

Waterfall Homestay is a delightful haven in Ella. We were greeted warmly on arrival by Karen and this set the scene for an outstanding 3 night visit. The location is a short tuk tuk ride or an easy 15 minute walk from the centre of Ella. Away from the busyness of Ella but close enough for easy access. On arrival the scenery is stunning with the expansive deck looking across the the waterfall. The property is set in a serene, tropical garden and is just beautiful. We instantly felt relaxed and calmed. We stayed in the Verandah room and loved the charming, eclectic style of the spacious room. Thoughtful touches and interesting artifacts added to the charm and comfort of the room. The verandah which is part of a larger communal area provided a quiet oasis to read/ write/dream.

We stayed 3 nights with Karen and Martin and were overwhelmed by their hospitality. What a nice people and what a wonderful place to stat We slept in the garden room with a beautiful terrace from where we could watch the monkeys play in the trees. The breakfast is a feast with fresh fruit, curd, homebaked bread and muffins. It's 10 out of 10! The bed is just hard enough, the towels nice and fluffy, the shower is warm and you can have a on site massage which has been one of the best massages I've ever had! Thanks again Karen and Martin for a perfect time at your wonderful B&B!

We rocked up and randomly they had had a cancellation which meant a room was available which had loads of windows overlooking the waterfall. It was such a beautiful room and I literally opened my eyes to monkeys playing in the trees outside and a peacock crowing in the distance. Magical. The breakfast was heavenly (that passion fruit jam!!) and the staff were ultimate chill and super helpful. We so wanted to stay another night but they were full - should have pre booked!! But they sorted our next night out for us and gave really good tips and advice for the rest of our travels. Felt like part of the family after two minutes. Would go back in a heart beat.

We stayed in the new Garden Apartment. This has a magnificent view over the valley where you can see the waterfall, the railway and if you get up early, the sunrise. The ambience in the homestay is lovely. While it's a bit of a distance from the town, Karen can call for a tuktuk to take you down the roller coaster track in minutes. And *most* of the drivers know the way back! We stayed three nights and could have enjoyed longer. Karen booked us into a cookery class at Lanka's restaurant which was excellent. We are both accomplished cooks, make a lot of Asian food, but this taught us things we didn't know, and we're practising them already. She also got us a tour of the Amba tea plantation. This was a great morning - not to be missed.

What a find in Ella! The Aussie family running the place do everything they possibly can to make you feel welcome. We loved our stay from the minute we arrived. They even arranged a birthday party for my daughters doll!!! If you can find any vacancy, go ahead and book. You won’t be sorry.
