A lovely place in Ella. After a steep climb of 15 minutes you arrive at a beautiful guesthouse in the middle of the greenery, with extremely sweet and service-oriented owners. The owner speaks perfect English. The breakfast is homemade and exquisite. The guesthouse is very comfortably furnished and the shared terrace is ideal for reading a book or playing cards in the evening. Possibly with other guests.

I stayed for four nights at Kiah and Lakshan's gorgeous homestay in Ella. It was certainly one of the nicest places I stayed in Sri Lanka, mainly due to Kiah and Lakshan's wonderful hospitality. They (and Kiah's parents who built the guest house) have made a very welcoming atmosphere. I enjoyed our chats over the sumptuous breakfasts and had the pleasure of accompanying Kiah to one of the local weekend markets. They helped me organise daily outings and tips for things to do, and onwards transport to Galle. The veranda where breakfast is served has a to-die-for view through the trees to two huge waterfalls and birds and native mammals abound. I stayed in the Garden Room which was separate from the main house and was a very peaceful retreat, also with fantastic view. If you don't mind some steep steps near the gate, you can walk easily to Ella town along the train tracks in 20 minutes, and even on to the Nine Arch Bridge after that. The location and views are stunning. Beautiful room and a hot shower, bliss. Breakfast was the best of our trip and sitting on the veranda with a clear view of the waterfalls was just the best setting, being serenaded by peacocks was an added bonus! We were only there for 2 nights but instantly felt part of the family.

Having found ourselves in a very gloomy property in the very chilly high tea country, we threw in the towel and booked a night at Waterfalls Homestay, where we were lucky enough to stay three years ago. Delightful hosts, very comfy room and simply delicious breakfast. Ella rocks with lots of fabulous places to dine in the evening - cocktails, delicious food and live music. A serious lift to the spirits.

An absolutely beautiful place to stay, directly opposite the Little Rawana Falls. The accommodation was excellent clean, tidy and very comfortable. The breakfasts were beautiful, home made, tasty and plentiful. Our hosts were delightful and pleasant with a fantastic knowledge of the local area and were only too pleased to arrange tours and transportation. All in all our stay was fantastic and we will definitely return.

We were allowed to spend 2 nights during our round trip there, it was the best accommodation of all. The location is absolutely fantastic, just outside Ella in beautiful nature with waterfall. The host family welcomed us warmly , the breakfast was super delicious, everything freshly prepared. The ambience on the terrace was unique with views of the waterfall. Room and bathroom were large and clean with nice covered seating. We can recommend the homestay and if Ella again, then only there!

We stayed in the large room (mother and 2 children) which had a double bed and a loft with 2 single beds. Super nice shower! Fridge and kettle (with coffee and tea) in the room and a beautiful private terrace with a view of the jungle, mountains and waterfall. The room was at the bottom of the mountain and via some small stairs you walked to the main house with a large terrace and fantastic views! The family is very helpful and we also had a nice evening chatting. Super hospitable and delicious breakfast. From this place you can take a nice walk to the small waterfall! You are a little further from the village, but easily accessible with a tuk tuk!

We stayed three nights at Waterfalls Homestay and enjoyed every second of it! The food was delicious every single day. The breakfast by itself would be a reason to spend a night here: next to curd and fruit salad, a different kind of home made muffin every single time! To top up, the hosts with their rich mix of cultures (Birmese, Australian, Singalese) bring the best of all worlds to this single place. I hope we can visit again!

The views from the home stay are fantastic, overlooking a waterfall. Breakfast amazing. Home cooked muffins, beautiful fruit and Lucky's eggs were all delicious. Our room was lively and clean. Nicely appointed. Great shower. Kiah and Lucky very welcoming. Felt more of a family stay which was lovely. Great advice about places to go and eat. Visited the AMBA tea plantation on recommendation which was a very special place.

A stay at Waterfalls homestay is truly like staying with family. Kiah , Lakshan & their little son are delightful hosts, with a beautiful home.We stayed for 2 nights, eating dinner there the second night. Everything we ate was top quality & homemade. The best breakfast anywhere in Sri Lanka! The only word of caution is that the house is a long way up a steep hill which is not fully accesible by car, so if you are not prepared to walk 15 minutes uphill from Ella town, you will need a tuktuk, especially with luggage

I recently stayed at the Waterfall Homestay, it about five minutes in a Tuk Tuk out of Ella - not a great road but so worth the stay. During my stay the internet went down a few times - this is Sri Lanka after all! But it is well worth keep on trying, its a great place to stay, the people are truly lovely. Good Luck
