Just returned from Zanzibar and had a great stay at the Ocean Paradise.
Staff - wonderful, helpful and friendly (I was astounded when some previous reviewers said they were not welcomed - the staff couldn't have been nicer to us! )
I spent 5 days at Ocean Paradise with my spouse while attending a conference at the resort. This is a very pleasant resort set in beautiful gardens with a lovely beach . Accomodation is in the form of beach bungalows which although not ultra luxurious...More
We stayed here for 5 nights on our honeymoon after doing 3 days safari in tanzania.
Upon arrival we were greeted with cloths for freshening up and a cocktail, then sat in the stunning reception area which is sat up on a hill over looking...More
We stayed at Ocean Paradise for 6 nights in October 2008. The first thing that strikes you as you enter the Reception area is the view, which is quite breathtaking. This area gives a commanding view over much of the resort, as well as the...More
My son and I stayed at the Ocean Paradise for a week, by the end of which we were so chilled out we were virtually comatose!
After an initial misunderstanding regarding the 2 rooms booked (soon sorted out) we were seated in the lobby and...More
Situated on Zanzibar’s picturesque North East coast overlooking the turquoise Indian Ocean, it is as the name suggests a little piece of paradise. From your arrival at Zanzibar Airport, the resort is a ...Moremeandering 45 minute journey through un-spoilt scenery, passing typical African villages where the way of life has changed little for hundreds of years. At Ocean Paradise Resort Zanzibar, you will be greeted by a blaze of colour as you sweep down the imposing driveway, saluted by a Masai warrior as you pass through the entrance gate and be captivated as you arrive in reception and look out over the resort and the azure blue sea. Mature coconut palms swinging in the breeze, white sandy beach, beautiful landscaped gardens, traditional style round chalets with pitched makuti roof, a stunning waterfall feature and the largest swimming pool in Zanzibar are just some of the sights that await you. A big smile and the greeting of "Jambo" will be the first words you hear, as you begin to feel the warmth that the people of Zanzibar are famed for. Less

Hi, we didn’t use the beach outside of the hotels sectional bit really. At most we did a quick walk out (where we got plenty of local attention - walking with us trying to sell us various bits). On this walk, we noticed plenty of seaweed washed up on the beach, along with quite a lot sharp coral and shell fragments. There is a coral reef exposed at low tide, which you are able to walk out to. At high tide, various shells washed up to shore. It is a lovely sandy beach.
Sun beds are available within the sectioned hotel beach area, but not outside of this. The sectioned area is set on the sand, but does not meet the sea. There is like a ‘no mans land’ open beach area between the sea and the sectioned area. Hope this helps!

We stayed 9 days in august with the same forecast. Finally, it came out a very different weather, with plenty of sun. We got like 2-3 showers, but never at the beach and very short. You can have some clouds during early morning, bur then it opens. If there is wind - most of days we got some wind, at a confortable level - the end of the day can be kind of cool. Otherwise, you have a strong sun and a excellent temperature - never too hot. Enjoy
