Great location, a minute to supermarket and pub. The front building is very clean and value for money. It was bit old but they kept it really clean and tidy.It was en suite and we paid comparatively cheap. Bed was comfy. If you were in a 4 star hotel you will be paying $100 plus for the same kind of...

i have stayed here quite a few times over the years but never again. It was cheap but if you are planning on getting sleep forget it.There was a party in the backpackers partly arranged by the hosts which went on for ever with kids screaming, running back and forwards to the adjacent pub with no respect for the other guests. There are...

This hostel really depends on what side you are on. There is the house which has home made bunk beds with lots if nooks and crannies to put your stuff. It is an old house so although it may not look it, it's clean. The kitchen is got everything you need. The common room is where everyone hangs out and...

Best hostel!! Came here to relax and chill out after most of the great walks and other hikes I went on. Stayed in the lodge, where we enjoyed our own kitchen. Amazing location, and extreamly friendly owners! We just liked coming back! We even had a few group dinners with other guests in the lodge which where so much fun....

We decided to stay for a couple of nights in Wanaka at the Matterhorn South Backpackers. We did not consider the lodge since we usually stay in backpackers and they are good enough for us since we do not spend much time in the room. In their webpage looked like a place with some character and some of the reviews...

Well, we arrive late at 7pm without reservation. Most hostels were fully booked. The only room available we actually got was situated in ''love hut'' however dog hut would be more suitable for this type of accommodation. It was outside the building small hut 2X2 meteres hut that fitted only bed and sink ( no space for chair, table or shelf)...

I was hoping to stay all my days in Wanaka Bakpaka. I am glad that it did not happen. Majority of my stay in Wanaka was at Matterhorn. The place may not be top notch in cleanliness but it provides spacious rooms and bathrooms. The staff is helpful and the location is central. Pretty much what you want from your hostel....

Unfortunately Matterhorn South was a noisy, filthy and just an old place to stay. The lodge staff played Beer pong in common kitchen / lounge until 2 in the morning and there music was blaring all day long. I presume the communal toilets weren't cleaned for 3 days due to the sore heads of the staff. After 2 nights out...

I regret not checking Tripadvisor before I made a reservation here, but being high season everything in Wanaka was fully booked and this place had a double room available in the backpacker unit. On arrival it looked ok from the outside and we were very happy with the central location. It's situated on the same street as the lovely Cinema...

I was quite afraid after booking in this place and seeing such a low rating. However, it is quite fine. The room was clean, a bit outdated maybe, but nothing terrible. For about 80 bucks it is quite rare to find a fridge and TV in a room, that's a big plus. The owners were helpful. Also, there is an...
