Worst customer service I've experienced in New Zealand. The woman at the counter refused to give my partner and I our BBH discounts (which is completely against the BBH contract) because, and I quote, "She could make more money if she sold it without" I was appalled at her response, it was a money grubbing, selfish move on her part....

Upon arriving the first thing you see is an abundance of weeds everywhere. On checking in we are greeted by Karen who has a fantastic character and is full of advice about the area and things of interest. She advises us that she allows backpackers on limited finances to do small jobs in exchange for a bed for the night....

Relaxed stay, our twin room was like a log cabin so it was very cozy. Large kitchen and communal area, plenty of people in and out skiing etc. Short walk into the town/lakeside. Free parking. Would stay here again.

Stayed here for a weekend, The hostel is old and could use a makeover. The rooms are very noisy and the kitchen is small and unconvenient. The showers and bathrooms were clean and with good waterpressure. No free Wifi

Could hear most of the noise from lots of drinking the the lounge area. Appeared to have no noise curfew time, unlike many other backpackers I've stayed in. Still really noisy at 2 am. So barely slept at...

The place has a really relaxed and nice vibe to it. A few long term stayers but they made us feel really welcome and invited us on a night out with them. Rooms, beds and facilities were all good as was the location. The only disappointing thing was paying for wifi that barely worked.

I did not book my stay at Matterhorn and I was not here by choice. My group of climbers and me had to get off Mt Cook earlier than planned and it seems this was the only place available due to the holiday weekend. I got to share a six bunk bed room with a fellow climber and four other...

We came with low expectations (all other hostels we called were fully booked) and left disappointed. Room was not clean (dirt on the floor), kitchen dirty, no free wifi, some staff unfriendly. Showers were all right but thats it...

I used this as my base to go hiking in the areas that surround Lake Wanaka. It has everything you need for that, quiet and enough space for gear. The lady who ran the place was doing an amazing job of showing me around and taking care of a baby at the same time. There was never a struggle for...
