We really loved our time at the High Country Holiday Lodge! The facilities were clean and never more than a few steps away and the staff was a delight to deal with. We wish we had more time to spend in Twizel to stay even longer with them! Thanks for everything!

Owner is a nut who takes every opportunity to create confrontation and call people out. When I didn't recieve a booking confirmation by email I called to confirm I actually had a place to stay that night and he became agitated and yelled into the phone when the signal was bad and he couldn't hear my replies. Which was extremely...

Run down, with few amenities. The whole experience was quite frightening, as some guys from the room next door tried to break into our room through a locked connecting door and there was no cellphone coverage to enable us to call reception and/or the police. Avoid this place!

At $90 a night, this is one of the more affordable places in the area. And for good reason. If you're not on too tight a budget, there are better options for sure. 1) The facilities are dated. Together with the poor lighting along the corridors, the vibes are gloomy and depressing. 2) Television is pointless. 2 channels, neither of...

36 of us stayed here from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th November 2016. I was lucky enough to have room 805 (a & b) The room was very comfortable, had a stove, 6 beds (1 double, the rest singles), microwave, kettle, toilet, 2 bedrooms, lounge kitchen open plan, dining table for 4, fridge, cuttlery and plates etc - freeview and...

Don't lecture guests on rules when you release a room that breaks them in the first place. Dirty and oily place. Bad reception/owner. Not rude but as mentioned, sets his rules on you and highlight them in the paper he gives. I don't mind keeping the rules but at least make sure we start on an even footing. Hate it...

Unfortunately we didn't enjoy our stay here (probably our worst accommodation in our 8 weeks in NZ) and wouldn't recommend it. We had a double room with en suite but the property also offers "motel" rooms which might be better (though not sure on the difference between these and ours as we had crockery etc). There is also some dorm...

Have been using these accomodations for bi-annual trips to the Wanaka warbirds airshow for many years. Near to the majority of eateries in Twizel & the town centre. Accomodation is clean & well maintained, nothing fancy.

We booked for 2 nights, and when opened the door to our room realized that this was a very bad choice, room was so old, curtains if you call them curtains were decades old. the TV you had to wait while it warmed up it was very very old. After this shock the bed was clean and the bathroom although...
