Stayed here a few weeks ago. Well done to owners for recycling the unused army dorms - very odd and quirky! Did not have dinner there but had breakfast and it was really nice, the staff were friendly and it was a nice environment.

I could imagine earlier times when the American military was based there and working with the Australians. The hotel would have been quite a hang out. The interior of the restaurant had a pleasant retro look with modern touches.

On holiday from the UK and doing a trip into the Outback from Adelaide to Alice Springs, we broke our journey at Woomera. Whilst the reception, restaurant and, what appeared to be a conference room, were modern and very nice, when we went to our room it was in what appeared to be old barracks. Quite outdated room, the TV...

Lodged within one of the Forces accommodation buildings in this town purpose built for rocket testing, we had a large bedsitter, just 200metres from reception and the restaurant in what had been the Officers Club - a different and enjoyable experience.

You probably have a reason to go to Woomera and if you do go there you have limited options of where to stay. The ELDO uses accommodation units in blocks that would have been "quarters" in earlier decades. There has been little reason to renovate or update the rooms, so you are sinking back into the 1950s when you stay...

We chose this hotel partly because of its location - fitted in with driving times from Sydney to Alice Springs, and also because of its military history. Rooms were basic but comfortable. Views across the desert from the restaurant were amazing. The food and beer were good. One of bar staff was so bad it became a standing joke with...

I had heard about and read about Woomera but you need to see it in person. The vastness of the land the differing qualities of light the colours. We were lucky that the weather was changeable and so saw the country change as the storm and rain came in. The Woomera "village" is a look into a time warp. This...

Like a trip back to the 60's VERY quiet and quirky and I loved it. Great food, clean comfortable rooms with good air conditioning. There were renovations happening while we were there so it was a bit ugly around the building where we were staying which worried me at first but it was very quiet and the room was so...

... You are in Z block, just you tonight, no problems therefore with the shared facilities then ... Slightly concerned, but needn't have been, excellent room and facilities in the old but renovated officers quarters. Eldo bar and restaurant across the way in the officers mess, great deck and view, well worth the stop over if in town to see...

The rooms are clean and comfortable, though rather basic (coverted military barracks). The restaurant was very nice, with an extensive menu that was a welcome break from the standard rump steak and schnitzel fare on offer at most roadhouses. Also, the history of the place as a missile testing ground is interesting and well-documented in the local museum/cafe/bowling alley. Well...
