Detailed Reviews
We were greeted when we arrived with a welcome glass of local schnapps, which set the tone for our stay. The property was clearly quite old, with lots of character but with all the necessary conveniences. My wife and I were given a 3 bedroom suite with a living room, kitchen and bathroom...a lot more room than we needed, especially since we were only there for one night. Furnishings were a bit dated, but perfectly adequate. Breakfast was excellent and copious.
One note: This is a small town, but it has at least two extraordinary restaurants.

We were in transit from a walking holiday arranged by On Foot Holidays and this was one of our hotels. What a gem and centrally located. THERE ARE STAIRS... but rustic and quaint. Our breakfast then next morning looking like a Dutch Masters Painting. Also a few doors down is fantastic gelato.

Recently visited with a cycling trip through Slovenia with Cycle Tonic Tours. The hospitality at Koren was wonderful. Basic but clean apartments in an excellent location. Greeted with homemade cordial and the breakfast was amazing! We will book for next years tour! Thank you

We arrived in Vipava and discovered a gem. Host David was friendly, introducing us to some of his friends and providing lots of information on his village and his country . He entertained us with wine from a local vineyard and played his accordian in the pretty rear courtyard. The rooms were good sized and well equipped. The lounge room was large with 2 dining tables and full kitchen. There was a bathroom as well as 2nd toilet and basin. Everything was immaculate and newly renovated. We stayed 3 nights and would have happily stayed more if we had the time. We were travelling as 2 couples and this was perfect accomodation for us. Wifi was available. Parking was in front of the building at no cost.

Firstly, I have to say we were given a very warming (literally - schnapps on the house hit the spot!) welcome! Then, I have to say that our room, on a scale of cosiness from 1 (horrible) to 10 (ultra cosy!) was at about three bordering two... It was like sleeping in an office with fluorescent strips in the ceiling being the only - chilling - light source. No bedside lamps.... No rugs on the tile floor... paper taped on the windows to the corridor by the main entrance to stop passers-by looking in... The beds though were very comfortable. The bathroom was good, the breakfast was really nice - and it was right next door to the best coffee and ice cream in town. So all in all - ok!!

We arrived at Apartments Koren on 7th August after a long walk. They are located in Vipava which is a pretty town with a couple of restaurants and another couple of bars - see separate reviews.
We were met by Nevenka Koren and given some welcome drinks - a very strong homemade liquor like schnapps - very tasty.
Our rooms were indeed apartments around the lovely little inner courtyard. There is also a wine shop which sadly was closed on our visit.
The rooms were spacious and clean, however like all the properties we stayed in in Slovenia, lacked basic toiletries in them - a simple shower gel and shampoo in the shower would add a star for me.....
Breakfast was excellent, meats, cheeses, breads, cereal, pastries, cakes, juices etc - faultless apart from no hot food.
All in all a very enjoyable stay.

We only stayed one night but David and Andreja made us exceptionally welcome, down to letting us eat perfect cherries fresh from their tree. Nice wine, homemade elderflower for breakfast. Room decor and fittings a little old fashioned but spotless, everything is provided and the room is designed to stay cool in hot weather. Nice courtyard for breakfast, and opportunities for wine tasting, accordion performance etc. Short walk to Podfaroz restaurant for good local food (mainly trout), and longer walk to the best restaurant there is anywhere (Pri Lojzetu). Good value also.

This was a great find. Our group of 5, (four of them old), climbers, stayed in 2 apartments for a week here in May. It was the best place we have stayed on our regular European climbing trips. The hospitality from David, Nevenka and Andrea was more than you could hope for. The apartments were clean, comfortable and well-equipped, but it was the people that made it special. Nothing was too much trouble, and we had great advice, helpful arrangements on our behalf, kindness and virtuoso music! Cudovit! Odliona gostoljubnost! Najlepsa hvala! From your upokojen friends David, Gary, Cliff and Mike, and from Ross who is not yet retired!

Stopped here for one night but would have liked to stay longer. Good value rooms, nice breakfast, super friendly host that makes you feel welcome. The family-run business also includes a small wine shop with a decent selection of local Vipava valley wines. Will come back here.
