We visited last month and stayed in the ‘annex’ by the port, with the main hotel rooms, pool etc. up a rather big cliff. Upon booking we were informed that this would be suitable for the 5 of us and the hotel offered a free shuttle up to the main hotel if we wanted to go for breakfast or use the pool. Unfortunately we were greeted by a member of staff who didn’t seem to know what he was doing- no formal check-in or passports taken etc. No room tour or instruction on how to use the electronic gates to park and no mention of a shuttle to the main hotel. We had to ask him how to get to the hotel and he simply told us we go up the stairs and it’s at the top, which was not the case at all. We had to go right to the top and walk through a few streets and make several turnings before actually reaching the hotel. We asked about the shuttle service at reception and they seemed very reluctant and told us that the car only seats 4 people despite them saying it would be fine previously when they knew there were 5 of us. Breakfast was also highly disappointing. Not many hygiene measures were in place, with food out on display and nobody wearing masks really when they were serving themselves. We arrived for breakfast at around 10, and it finished at 11, but there was hardly anything left and we had to ask if we wanted anything else and then it took another 20 minutes to cook. The waitress who laid the table and served us did not take many safety precautions either and we did not see her clean her hands once even after pushing chairs in, writing things down and laying our table with her hands on the insides of our cups and all over our cutlery. It seems that a lot of the staff were quite inexperienced particularly some of the waiters in the restaurant which we ate at one evening. He was very blunt and quite rude and didn’t do anything or even apologise when we asked why the pasta was tagliatelle when the menu said farfalle. The pool area wasn’t great either with smashed glass that had not been cleaned up for several hours and a bag of what looked like rotting fruit left near the restaurant area which many members of staff had walked past but not bothered to clear up. The pool didn’t have enough sun beds either to accommodate everybody. Despite this, the room was nice and the cleaning was excellent. What was left of the food at breakfast was good but overall we were very unimpressed with the quality of staff at Hotel Genovese, the welcome we received and the false information about the shuttle bus.…
The hotel is luxury. Our room had a terrace overlooking the pool; with the view on the sea! The room was spacious, bathroom comfortable (Nuxe products!). The breakfast is very good, served in a dining room with view on the pool. The pool area is all in wood, with lots of seating and a decent sized pool ( be careful, no fence around the pool). The pool was heated a bit, so we did manage to enjoy it. The hotel restaurant served very good food - italian, tasty and fresh. The pastas were delicious- Tagliatelle aux cepes to try!
The port suite is definitely worth the price. The room is large comfortable with a sitting area, bath, shower and an extra sink with the toilet. The coffee maker is Nespresso with china cups & saucers. Brian & Andre we’re both great & very helpful. Yet, the BEST was the balcony view. Watching all the action on the harbor, our yacht neighbors, & the changing skyline. Magical!
Stayed now for 1 night. The hotel has 2 sections. One in the citadel and the other at the port. We stayed in the suite at the port but had the best of both worlds as the pool and breakfast are in the citadel. Free parking at both. Pure luxury, outstanding service especially from Brian at reception, great breakfast. Location and views could not be better. Highly recommend and will definitely be back
We decided to stay here as we thought it was a small personable hotel for our 29th wedding anniversary. Whilst the staff were friendly there was no mention of our anniversary. The rooms are small but we had a great view of the port. The other negative point is there is no shade on the balcony nor by the pool.
