We stayed here for two nights earlier this month and were very disappointed to arrive at a holiday park rather than the eco-lodge we were expecting. Our "cottage" was fine - nowhere to put anything, cold and damp but with a nice bathroom and a strange, but very efficient, shower. Not very child-friendly though. Our first meal was disappointing but...

Thanks for spending some of your time at Selva Negra during your recent trip to Nicaragua and for taking the time to provide us with detailed feedback. Feedback is really the only way that we are able to improve. I think that must have been some confusion because are birding walks and nature hikes are not done by car. We...

I went here as a day-trip from Matagalpa just to hike some of the trails and it was worth the 50 Cordobas entry fee just to spend the afternoon hiking. There are about 22 km of trails, total and they vary in length and difficulty. Ask for a trail map in the restaurant. If you want a challenge, take the...

Location is everything! Love the food, the area in general. Well taken care off. Everyone is so friendly and is a nice place to spend the day. The wedding hall is very nice and the package that they offer you is a dream. Will visit next year again for the 3rd time.

While on a recent mission trip, our group stayed at Selva Negra for 2 nights. The rooms were nice, the restaurant very good and the surrounding, beautiful. Our group took part in horse back riding and hiking as well as a farm tour. The grounds are beautiful. We could hear howler monkeys from our rooms and saw then on a...

Despite not being a coffee drinker I thoroughly enjoyed the day I spent at Selva Negra. And the coffee certainly smelled delicious! The cabins looked lovely as well, but it's equally enjoyable to visit on a fairly short bus ride from Matagalpa. (You have to walk about 20 minutes down a path to get to the park entrance, but this...

This is a comfortable tourist attraction for children and seniors, as well as everyone in between. I came here on a day trip to hike the Black Forest trails, which were clearly labeled from easy to challenging, as well as the time to walk it. I assume the time listed was based on the overall length of that particular trail....

We only stayed for one night as part of a tour of Nicaragua, but it was one of my favorite places on the entire trip. It is a bit of a drive up the mountains to get there, but it is definitely worth it. It is located up in a cloud forest, surrounded by nature and beautiful landscaping. I loved...

Just about anywhere you start your walking tour you will go through the forrest where you will see coffee plants hiding in the shades of the tall trees. Swans and ducks swimming in the lake in front of the restaurant and will fight for the morsels you throw them from the railings. Hearty soups and German style sausages with thinly...

This was my second most favorite place visited in Nicaragua, after San Juan del Sur. It is quiet, cool and off the beaten track. There are hiking trails in the forest, a stream and a small pond. No glam here and no other restaurants, shopping, etc. close by.

Thanks for your recent visit and taking the time to provide us with feedback. One of the most common things people say when they first arrive is they can not believe how cool and comfortable our weather is. I am glad to hear that you had some time to enjoy our hiking trails and also that you noticed that we...

We took the bus from Miraflor through Yale to Silva Negra. This is a wonderfully run coffee plantation with 1/3rd of the land left to the natural forest. The farm seems to take good care of the workers and families with school and medical facilities on site, as well as homes. The farm is sustainable and a tour will show...
