We spent 10 days at the Apante hotel and we had a really good time there! The room had a private bathroom, it was very basic, but very clean and quiet and very cheap. The hotel is run by a lovely family, especially the mother is super nice and in the end she gave us a big hug and didn't...

I felt safe staying here, however it was pretty dirty and the walls are paper-thin. If you're just looking for a cheap place to stay right in the center of Matagalpa, it's great just don't expect a five-star place. The staff was friendly and they gave us fresh towels every day.

Its cheap. Its not very clean and having warm water is a gamble. Toilet sometimes flush and the room walls are very dirty. My toilet was never cleaned and the service is okay. There is much better out there. Martina's place for example is a great, affordable place.

A group of us stayed at Apante for a few days following a service trip to rural communities. The hotel is exponentially more comfortable than the outdoors and has a good location; however, it is dirty and the employees are less than attentive.

It is also in fact the only place we've been that hasn't upped their prices since appearing in the guide book! We had a lovely, hot water shower and a ceiling fan, not to mention...

I have stayed there many times over the last few years and have always found the staff to be very friendly ...and the location is directly across from Parque Dario. Unfortunately, the beds have not been replaced and are overused to the point that many are broken down with springs poking through the top of the mattress.
