We came here after our original hotel had overbooked and recommended that we stay instead at Don Guillermo for one night. The owner and staff were incredibly friendly and helped us to organize onward transport to some of the more remote northern ecolodges over Christmas. The room by the front was a little noisy from day traffic, so we chose...

Not much to look at from the outside but step inside and you are in a very well-run little operation. Immaculate bedrooms and bathrooms which have been very well decorated and are in tip-top condition. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom a good size. Lovely staff dish up a good breakfast and are very helpful. Only one block...

Stayed a week on the second floor with a view of the hillside. Room and bathroom were very clean and spacious. (Would have liked a few more clothes hangers) Choice of 5 different breakfasts in the morning -- all freshly made by a friendly cook. Hot tasty coffee too. Overall the hotel was quaint, lovingly decorated, and immaculately cared for....

I have been treated like royalty--quality you'd expect from a 5 star hotel in the US. Best breakfast I've had during my 3 weeks in Nicaragua (I was offered a chance to choose breakfast the night before--big bowl of fresh fruit, 2 properly cooked pancakes, and the excellent Nicaraguan coffee.) Room clean, quiet; good quality wifi.

Definitely a great place to stay in Matagalpa. Inexpensive, extremely clean, hot water shower. Easy to walk to restaurants, Central Park, Cathedral, etc. Main floor rooms are noisy, as sound echos from eating/reception area. On safe streets to walk in the evening.

Everything was great here.Staff was awesome.Friendly, helpful, and all done with a smile that was sincere. It is a very "inviting" place I thought and I would DEFINITELY stay here again without hesitation. You are greeted with nice cold purified water too. The room was clean and everything worked.TV has some North American and some other international channels. Walking distance to...

I loved this hostal , very quiet and peaceful with a beautiful patio. All of the employees were very friendly even by Nicaraguan standards. Breakfasts are excellent with rich coffee. Will always return here!

We stayed at Don Guillermo twice. The shower is better than the one we have at home. I found all the staff/management to be kind and friendly. The location is 1 1/2 blocks to the cathedral. It very clean and comfortable. I feel the price is totally resonable. They don't have a website at this point but we were able...

Matagalpa is a nice town up in coffee country with an excellent climate, especially in the hot, dry season. Hostal Don Guillermo is a lovely place to stay- a great deal for the money. Located very close to both the Parque Central and the "entertainment district", this hostal is very well maintained and run. My single room, which cost only...
