I had great apprehensions about staying here from all of the frightening reviews on Tripadvisor. I was GREATLY relieved to find they were either 99% exaggerated or that we at least had a fantastic experience. We stayed in the Beach House for 10 days. Initially we had planned on about 8 days there but we extended our stay. We would...

We stayed there for 3 nights, and i have to admit the cabanas are nice even though they are a bit overpriced. But what really drove me mad were the owners derek and anne. Derek never even said hello or anything and obviously acted like i dont care if you feel uwelcome or not. Anne was a bit better but...

Long flight from Canada, then a flight to Big Corn Island and then the panga to little corn island. A 'long' walk across the island and then you find Paradise. The flights, boat and walk was worth it the second that we arrived at Derek's. We stayed a few nights in the beach house and then a couple nights in...

The location is beautiful and isolated from most of the island. However, the beach house requires high tolerance for cockroaches and scary electrical wiring. The 'bedrooms' upstairs are so small that you have to crawl around and the mattresses are on the floor which is awful considering it is a hot and humid place and easier for the roaches to...

OK the cabin was cute and funky, that is all I can say good about this place. Many reviewers have commented about how horrible and unwelcoming the owners are and that is all very true. The bigger issue is that it is grossly overpriced for what it is. We moved down island to the Iguana and found twice the accommodation for...

I just returned from a 10 day trip to Derek’s Place on Little Corn Island (LCI), and thought that I would share our experience. As a full disclaimer we went to Derek’s Place with the intent of snorkelling- my wife is pregnant and we have a 2 year old son. The plan was to hang out on the beach and...

Derek's place is an isolated oasis with the most creative accommodations on Little Corn. We absolutely loved the beach cabin set on a small sandy beach surrounded with soft grasses, palm trees, and hammocks. The construction is Eco-shabby-chic, and uses found objects such as buoys, rope, rum bottles and driftwood to create a fun, beautifully functional, living space. The large...

The cabins are great and have a beautiful surrounding. The food wasn't great but the up keep of the grounds and convenience to dive shop (onsite) made up for it. Keep in mind this establishment is a good 15 min walk from the bustling port side so returning to or leaving from your cabin once night falls requires headlamps or...

Difficult to rate this place accurately because some aspects deserve 1 star, and others 5 stars. Overall, I'm giving this a 3 star as an average because we loved our cabana and the location. After walking around the whole island, we confirmed that this is the best place to stay in terms of room/view/privacy. The WORST part of our stay...

We had a great time chilling at Derek's place while we did our Open Water PADI course at the dive shop attached to the resort. Derek him self was there hanging out and I liked the communal lunch and dinner arrangements where all guests can interact if they wanted to. The dive shop is cutely called "The little dive shack...
