I stayed with some friends down here, and we had a great time. The hostel is in a quiet area away from the city at the waterside. Gary and his wife (the owners) are the best hosts I had so far during my 11 week trip. Every night Gary comes by to ask if people need advise for their travel...

We only stayed for one night but wished we could've stayed longer. The showers are very clean, the owners are nice and the view is awesome. The kanoos are overpriced, but except for that we had an awesome stay. They pick you up and drop you of for free and the nature surrounding the lodge is amazing. PS: don't eat...

This place is located on stilts on the river. You can hire kayaks or you can swim off the deck but otherwise you can sit back and relax. I didn't feel isolated at all. The boat to livingstone picked me up and dropped me off at the hotel. The restaurant served ice cold beer and in stubby coolers yah. The...

The place is really sweet, and the people who work there are helpful and nice. Unfortunately,, the owners weren't there. Food was great. The only reason I give it 3 stars is that it's a bit loud. All the rooms are squished together around the TV lounge, so if someone decides to watch a movie, everyone can hear it. You...

I stayed at hotel kangaroo, in the hostel section, 2015. It's a great place with welcoming owners and staff. However, you should be aware that it is cut off from the mainland. To get to shops etc. you have to take a taxi or the owner,s boat, both at a fee. For a quiet and restful stay, enjoy! I cannot...

Ended up in Rio Dulce after a company there canceled my sailing trip from there to Livingston without much notice. Turned out to be a good thing for me that I ended up at Kangaroo. I only planned to be there a couple of days and ended staying a week. Deni and Dale are so friendly they made it seem...

Hotel Kangaroo is right on the water, which is really the biggest plus and the biggest drawback. It is only possible to get to by boat. The check-in and check-out boat is free, as is one at 8:30am, but otherwise costs 20q. The dorm was big and airy with lots of fans, which was great. I found everything to be...

We stayed here for 2 nights while we were backpacking through Guatemala and it's a really lovely place to stay. Aussie owner is really friendly and welcoming and will pick you up on a boat from Rio Dulce town. We had a gorgeous wooden cabin which had been handmade by the owner and was right by the Jacuzzi. Wonderful jungle...

Super! A great place to stay. Very helpful and a great welcome. The mosquito nets could do with changing but otherwise everything was fine. Hot tub on the verandah was an added bonus. Dogs gave me a great welcome. Thank you.

We arrived at Rio Dulce thinking of staying for 1/2 nights and ended up here for 3. We stayed in Bungalow 6, right by the jacuzzi. Super comfy bed, great sized room and felt like a little luxury after hostels and backpacking through Guatemala. It was just amazing - the location of this hotel is so so special, like nowhere...

“The bungalows were very nice if going as a couple I would definitely get one of those. I stayed in a single room, there are no windows just screens, they are still private but you will hear all the jungle noises and people.”
