We stayed there for one night before heading to Koh Mak next day. We arrived around half 3 in the afternoon and there was no one in the reception for around 20 minutes. I had to ring the number given on Booking.com website, only then they sent someone to check us in. However, all the staff were very polite and very helpful. The location was nice but there was no public transport so it was difficult to get to the local market or Trat city but they dropped us off at the local market for free and also helped arranged for a minivan for the next day. Their breakfast was nothing special but it was free with the room rate.
We stayed there for a night because we had missed the ferry to Koh Chang! Generally this hotel's Guest's more or less in the same situation like us! The room was clean and very basic furniture but for a night and in our situation was that just fine! Don't expect much from the Breakfast as well! If you ever come in this situation; you can stay there without hesitation!
I enjoyed my 4 night stay at this hotel but visitors beware, it is not situated in Trat town centre but is about 15km to the North on the main road to Bangkok. There is no local taxi service and car hire was difficult to find despite various claims by hire websites. On my arrival I scrounged a lift into Trat and made an agreement with a local taxi (sorng thee nang) driver to collect me each day and then take me back in the evening. I could then arrange trips to Koh Chang etc. The resort, in my opinion, is a motel, which is used primarily by Thai guests and the menu in the 'cafeteria' is Thai. The hotel staff are very welcoming and helpful when deciding what to eat. The food was cooked to order and very enjoyable although a standard inclusive breakfast was served in the morning which was mediocre. My room was large, air conditioned, well maintained and serviced daily. Wifi was unpredictable. Television is not a priority for me but if you are in the habit of watching television, it is entirely Thai. Good value but an isolated position let's it down. On the plus side there are few tourists and is genuinely Thai.…
Expectations were in check for what we thought would be pretty average accommodation on the way from Bangkok to Koh Chang. Trat itself is not so much a tourist destination as a stopover on the way to islands and areas further east. Upon arriving at the hotel we saw what looked to be a sizeable party being set up in the carpark very close to our two rooms. We were assured the party would not be loud and would absolutely be finished by 10pm - and no we could not be moved to the other side of the hotel. Anyway, two complaints later the karaoke finally stopped a bit after midnight but too late to stop the baby screaming for a couple of hours at the noise. Breakfast the next morning consisted of jam on toast which was all that was available for the first 45 minutes after the allotted time for breakfast to start. The rooms were basic and clean and fairly cheap, but the place was pretty disorganised and after a rough night with the kids a half-decent breakfast would have been appreciated. Would we stay there again? Not a chance I'm afraid.…
