I could hardly have loved this place more! The people are super friendly and amenable. They looked after us really well and helped our departure as well as lending us a phone charger while we were there. Bungalows are simple but pleasant- we had a tree in our bathroom growing through the roof! Pillows super uncomfortable though. The beach bar is cool with swings and great tunes. It’s not the best beach - but that’s all relative. It is pretty and safe. There is a bbq each evening and the grilled fish was delicious with a fantastic dressing. And it’s a great location from the pier where you arrive and for other shops, restaurants and resorts
Just stayed here for a few days . This place has a wonderful location . Directly on the beach with numerous mini mart and bars/restaurants a couple of minutes walk away . Having said that the food here is very delicious and reasonably priced . Because the restaurant is on the beach we ate there a few times as it has a better ambience than others by the roadside . Very happy we did . The rooms with with great glass sliding doors and seating area outside are exactly what you’d expect on an Island like Koh Mak and with a lovely Rasta style bar on the beach very friendly staff and owner we had a wonderful stay and would totally recommend.
Amazing! Again just like the photos. It’s fantastic value and right on the beach. The rooms are clean, modern and all have a sea view. I’ve seen the rooms at another resort further along and these are so much better. The beach bar is awesome and the staff are so helpful and friendly. Yes the beach isn’t white sand and has sand flies but that’s nothing to do with the hotel. It’s got hammocks and a swing in the sea and deckchairs to use. I honestly think this place is great value and the only shame is it’s not busier. But hopefully it will be in high season
The location is great but not on the prettiest beach, nice enough though in the evenings. beach bar is great place to chill out but very quiet. the cabind on the otherhand were filthy, shower was luke warm with mould all around it, sink has mould all around, bathroom roof was disgusting
The location is super and setting is inviting. Not cheap for a very simple bungalow as there is no TV, no fridge and not strong wifi. The price is paid for the location. Food is ok. Service is good, but they only clean your room every another day and on request.
We stayed for a week in March and can't fault this place. The location is superb, rooms basic but clean and comfortable with good aircon and bathroom. The staff (thank you Mr Bang!) are just lovely - very helpful, friendly and pleasant to deal with. This is not the place for you if you expect 5 star facilities but if you like the simple life with good food, drinks and beach it's heaven
We had a Nice Holiday at Baan Koh Mak. We had family 1 bungalow which was perfect in size for 2 adults and 2 kids. The view was perfect. The bungalows are very modern, but too dirty in my opinion. Very Dusty and old dirty spots everywhere. And the outside sorroundings could also need a "cleaning". The staff there is very nice and serviceminded. The reason why I only give it 3 "Stars" is the lack of cleaning.
Having been happy last year (see my review Feb 2016) we booked here again but were surprised that the price had increased by 10%. There was no improvement for the customer - still no fridge or TV, inadequate provision for storing clothes, poor lighting, no in-room WiFi and no breakfast included. Also, unlike others, there is no discount available if you stay for a week, which seems crazy since there are empty rooms Mon to Fri after the Thai weekenders have left. The staff are just as friendly and welcoming as before but the owner (who we have never seen) appears to have his head stuck in the sand. He could learn a lot from his staff. The message seems to be - that's it and that's it! Take it on my terms or go elsewhere. So - during our stay we looked at other places nearby for our next visit. We found several places with similar or lower prices for equal or better quality providing a normal range of in-room facilities. …
The resort is right on the beach near to the speedboat pier, so really easy to get to. The welcome was really warm. The huts are ultra modern, but superbly finished and really clean. Good quality aircon. They are sparcely furnished, no TV - but the resort is all about being on the beach, not in your room. The beach is just spectacular and really quiet. There are parts of it you can have to yourself for the day. It is a bit rocky in parts, so you have to be careful when bathing in the sea. There is wildlife everywhere - we sat in the sea for an hour watching sea eagles. Fish swim around you. It is great for snorkelling and diving. There are loads of restaurants and cafes up on the road, great choice, good prices. No busy roads, no beer bars. The resort's own beach bar has a great chill out vibe - superb place to watch the sunset and stargazing. The food at the on site restaurant was good, the service excellent. Cant speak too highly of this place!…
Our stay at this resort was lovely,we were greeted by smiling faces and happy staff, nothing was a problem for anybody. The accommodation was clean and bright and the grounds were maintained well, the little high street had everything you needed, we loved staying there, keep up the good work
