Went around the island as well as the house which is building from the 1920s. It is a privately owned island. Glad it was a venue of one of the events of the GLF. It was an experience to wade across the water to enter.

Definitely one of the most epic properties in Sri Lanka. The experience of living on an Island is magical. The views from around the house are spectacular. And the views change as the day progresses. Sunrise and sunset are beautiful. He sound of the sea and the many views of the ocean are so relaxing. The owner Geoffrey Dobbs has...

Spent a magical evening on Taprobane Island. A truly amazing experience from wading knee deep in water to get to the island to falling asleep to the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks. You need to time your arrival to coincide with the tide if you don't want to get too wet. The property is not suitable for...

Loved it... The island and it's villa are perfect... Wading through even high tide (we did this) to check in is just one of the unique experiences of this place. It has a lovely infinity pool and boasts fabulous views from every room and living space! Perfect for 2 or many more... Wi-Fi is the only mod-con you are likely...

I was fortunate to be invited for dinner during the Galle Literary Festival on Taprobane Island - one of the most romantic places on earth. We waded out to the island by the light of the moon and dined on the terraces overlooking a tropical garden and the sea. I can't recommend this spot more highly. It would be a...

We were lucky enough to arrange a lunch on this private island property. It was just magical! Absolute privacy! Seafood lunch with champagne was lovely. And a dip in their infinity pool with the view of the most pristine ocean. The staff was super friendly - including the Belgium Shepherd! This was the best part of the wk long Sri...

As long as you're not going into this expecting "western" style levels of luxury, you will not be disappointed. You will, however, be entranced from the first moment you glimpse the island from the road. It's an amazing experience to walk through the door marked "Taprobane Island (Private)" and get used to the fact that you are currently (temporarily) in...

Actually we didn't even get it. You can't understand for sure what it is. First (from the road) we thought it might be some temple so we came to check it. But that we just saw that its private property and no more information. So we have done a few photos and went away. By the way there were some...

We stayed on Taprobane from the 23rd to the 26th of September 2015, right after 5 months of refurbishment. The first feeling when seeing Taprobane from the beach is one of pure excitement, imagining yourself on your own private tropical island is just pure magic. And indeed it is. Though there is still some work to be done (one of...

I went there with some of my family and I had a fantastic time. Being on your own private island is an absolutely fantastic feeling. The staff were extraordinarily attentive and kind. The food they produced was the best I have tried in Sri Lanka (and I've been travelling around Sri Lanka for two months now). Some of the fruit...
