Great place to have fun. There is Ballon rides available. Cave tours. Water cave tours. Hotel room was a bit dirty. Tbere were ants in our room. Breakfast was excellant. Many varieties of coffee self serve. You can order pancake. Eaggs any syle. All you can eat. Our room had a wonderful view of the river and mountains which were an excellent sunset view.
We had a couple of nights here, and it was great to be so centrally located that you could just wander around town and back to the hotel so easily - it really is in the centre of things. And when you wanted to relax, we could sit out on the deck and watch the passing traffic on the river. The rooms themselves weren't overly big, but fine. The beds were comfortable, and the shower and aircon were both plenty strong. Breakfast (overlooking the river) was both extensive and enjoyable. We also ate a couple of lunches here, and they were reasonably priced and tasted good. The only real drawback was the noise from the surrounding building sites - although it may have finished by now. It definitely wasn't the most peaceful stay, but it wasn't too disturbing. If I got a good price, I would definitely go back!…
Let’s get the few positives out of the way: Nice breakfast with good selection overlooking the river and nice sunset drinks overlooking the area. Fast wifi but our room was also next to the lobby. Cute dog lives there and is available for pats. Negatives : Uncomfortable beds, stained sheets, stained towels. Cold showers. Construction work happening outside the rooms on the main floor , which isn’t supposed to start until 9 but the workers were out there at 7am. When the construction is finished the room will be looking at a parking garage. Entire hotel needs an upgrade, tv was still a grainy tube tv. Would not recommend
I stayed at the Elephant Crossing Hotel whilst on a group tour, we stayed for two terrible nights. There was no hot water at all which resulted in us having freezing cold showers in the middle of Laos winter. I asked staff if they could fix the hot water, in which a staff member came to our room and stood with the shower running for 30mins waiting for it to get hot as they didn't believe us. The shower never got hot, but according to the staff member it wasn't cold anymore and I just had to turn the shower on 30mins before I wanted to shower...and it was still cold! Absolute joke. Also we were promised a river view, but instead were facing a construction site and scaffolding, in which I could literally reach out and touch the workers from my balcony, no view at all, and very loud noises as work commenced early in the morning. The bathroom was also still dirty from the previous guests, as the mirror was covered in toothpaste and the bench. The staff did not help in any situation and implied that we just had to deal with it, despite us paying to stay here. Seriously would not reccomend this hotel to anyone, super noisy, no hot water, neglectful staff, filthy and poor quality.…
We came to stay at here 3 day and 2 night. The room is very nice and good view front of the room. The river song is very beautiful. I will say thank you k.big front he is very nice service and good communication and get information to me. The hotels is near Central city and easy to walk. The restaurant is very nice and good view because restaurant is very near river and mountain. In the future, I' m sure to come back again ❤️
Wonderful River View from room balcony.Very clean, staff were very pleasant and helpful. Good breakfast.Garden was not at it's best because of building work. Went to sister hotel for use of lounger and pool at small cost
If you like cold showers, toilets not flushing, and weak showers ( I piss harder than the shower heads). Staff really nice. Parking area under construction. Music blasting to 11pm. Not hotels fault. Vang Vieng is small if you don’t care about waking up to a Mountain View. Stay somewhere else. Room feel like they haven’t had any attention since the Vietnam war. Balcony door was wide open When arrived in room. Thanks for letting the bugs in house keeping. Stay a night. Wake up to a view . Anything more that 3 days max would be tough. I can’t say I would recommend it though. I would have given two stars but staff was really nice.
Stayed in Elephant Crossing for three nights in late October. Checked in early evening when it was already dark. Dined at hotel restaurant. Recommended the crispy seaweed with sesame seeds, fish leap and iced hibiscus tea. Booked "tubing" over two hours in Namsong River for next day activity at front desk. We tailored our preferred activities with Mr Big (front desk staff) without opting for the multi-activity packages organized by a tour company. Throughout our stay, Mr Big was extremely helpful with all our activity and transportation arrangements. He even negotiated for a couple of discounted van tickets for Luang Prabang and personally arranged with the driver for front seats (motion sickness issue). We appreciated the cordial and meticulous services from Mr Big. Room is comfortable, clean, dark and quiet for good night sleep. Woked up next morning with the best view of the Namsong River and the mountains from the balcony. Breakfast is very good with Laotian coffee, choice of eggs, Western/Laotian entrees and fresh fruits. No meat option though. Ate right by the river. Delighted with a verdant flowery garden between the hotel and the buffet breakfast restaurant. Lobby is spacious with wifi and ample seats while awaiting your activity pick-up driver. Numerous restaurants, night market, walk-across-only bamboo bridge and vehicle toll bridge (free to walk across) are well within short walking distance from the hotel. A nice air-conditioned boutique cafe named "eheh" with same hotel wifi password just outside the hotel entrance "gate" on the main road serves excellent iced coffee and cakes. We enjoy our stay in Elephant Crossing and thank Mr Big for his excellent service.…
That’s a nice place to stay! This hotel has an amazing view by the river. You can enjoy it from your balcony or from the restaurant in which by the way serve a very good breakfast buffet. The rooms are comfortable with air conditioner, fan, fridge, kettle and so on. The location is very convenient. From there you can go on foot to the main restaurants, market and bars. In front of the hotel there is a nice place to rent motorbikes and next to the hotel you can find the best coffee shop in town called Cafe eheh (Must try)! Last but not least this hotel is pet friendly! They have beautiful dogs living there!
Elephant Crossing is pretty old and run down, especially the toilet. During our stay, the car park was under renovation and access to the hotel was very narrow and difficult to find. Staff are friendly though. Our room was river facing and the view was great, though I think most hotels along the river have great views. The sister hotel Silver Naga (which is next door after the new Inthira) is better at US$3 more (we got Elephant Crossing at US$26 while Silver Naga was US$29). Should have gone with Silver Naga instead as it is much newer.
