This hotel was amazing! This was definitely a splurge within my 4 week backpacking trip in South East Asia, but 100% worth it. The staff is incredibly friendly and professional. They help you book any tours (kayaking, caving, trekking, etc.) and any busses or transportation...More
We had a lovely stay at the Riverside boutique resort. The location is fantastic and the staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was good for an evening meal and the breakfast was ok as well. This is probably the best accommodation in Vang Vieng.
Great views, breakfast was good, room is spacious, staff are friendly and hotel is clean. The location is within walking distance to center where there are restaurants and shop. Overall, an excellent hotel.

We loved staying here. We are a family of 6. We have four teenage daughters. We booked two rooms. At first we were told our four girls could not be in the same room due to the size. However, the manager accommodated our request.
We've been to Vang Vieng several times but mainly day trips coming from Vientiane. This time, we decided to stay overnight. Upon recommendation from a friend, we booked a stay at the Riverside Boutique Hotel.

Yes, we took a private transfer from the Riverside to Luang Prabang. It was quite expensive and probably not worth it if I'm honest. The hotel were surprised that we wanted a private transfer when they offer a minibus service themselves. I'd go for this option instead as the journey time is not significantly reduced with a private transfer. It took about 7 hours door to door with a couple of quick stops on the way. The journey is beautiful and you see a lot of 'real' Laos along the way, and a lot of different geography from flat plains to windy mountain roads.
Honestly though, I'd take the hotel minibus over a private transfer. It will save you money and not take much longer.
