I made a reservation online with Comfort Suites, Vicksburg while traveling during an ice storm. I received an email confirmation. Thirty minutes out from Vicksburg, the front desk called and canceled. I told her I had a confirmation number. She rudely replied it didn't matter, they needed the room for employees due to the winter weather. I explained that all other hotels in the area were booked and canceling our confirmed reservation left us in a real bind. Nothing mattered.. Thankfully we found a bed and breakfast in the area that took us in at the last minute. Canceling a confirmed reservation during winter weather will keep me from ever staying there again.

This hotel was just OK. The a/c was nice and cold and the beds nice but the big bathroom door scraped the floor.....needs to be fixed. Breakfast was OK.....grab and go plus an egg sandwich, cereal, bage with efficient help. The ice machine was broken......had to go down 3 floors. They had a nice frig with sink and microwave AND sitting area (though TV isn't in front of that sofa......so not used). Confusing TV......couldn't find local channels to see Olympics......asked next morning and clerk gave us 5 channels which were hard to find on our guide but worked OK . It was a BAD storm when we arrived so Direct TV went out for a bit. The checkin clerk was totally uninterested and not very attentive or friendly.......day staff OK. But it's a great location near military park and on Clay St. which leads right downtown to major restaurants.

Stayed in a suite room 308, price of $96, not including tax. The elevator is very slow. I usually prefer a first floor room but at this location that would not be a good selection. The pool and the screaming children are on that floor. The breakfast bar also has a fair amount of screaming spoiled brats. The parents seem to care less. The room was nice except for a broken shower curtain rod. It feel to the floor when I touched it. The water pressure for the shower was about 30% of normal. Caused by a leak at the fixture and a plumber was needed. I notified the desk and the rod was replaced the first day but the plumber never arrived during my three night stay. It was quiet on the 3rd floor. It's a 4 story building. Breakfast bar was minimal due to covid. My check in date was June 6. Nice muffins and coffee, waffles, oat meal, Jimmy Dean sandwiches to be used in the microwave. Folks at the front desk were friendly.

Room smelled like cigarette smoke. We called and told the front desk that room 310 smelled like someone had just smoke in there. The desk clerk said they would make a note of it. We had hoped we would be offered another room, but no luck. Bathroom floor was extremely slippery like grease was on the mop when they mopped it. Wouldn’t want my older parents staying here for the slick floors alone.

We are traveling through on a long distance trip, so really just wanted something comfortable and affordable to crash for the night before getting back on the road. I’ll start with the positives: the room was very clean and bright, not at all dingy or outdated. The bed was very comfortable, and the pillows were great. It’s also super close to lots of sites, if that’s what you’re traveling to see. Now I realize this is a popular destination for field trips and family vacations, so large volumes of children are very common. However, from the moment we pulled into the parking lot it was a loud free-for-all. There were 8-10 kids running around screaming in the parking lot, oblivious to vehicles. When we got back from dinner, a police cruiser was in the driveway telling the kids to go inside, which lasted about an hour before they were back playing around the cars. No big deal, unless your room is on the first floor facing the parking lot. Then it’s irritating and loud. But probably the worst part of the visit was the next morning. A large field trip of kids were staying here, and they all came down to breakfast at 7am. Which meant 45 minutes of screaming and running down the hallways, all before 8am. Again, not a big deal, unless your room is on the first floor a few doors down from the lobby and breakfast room. Either don’t put guest rooms right next to the eating area, or redesign for some sound proofing! It was awful! So overall, the hotel served the purpose we needed- an affordable, clean room for the night. But I definitely wouldn’t say it was a restful night.
