The Lotus Honolulu hotel is superb. Good size room with sitting space. Balcony facing Diamond Head. Beautiful beach! Recently they put in a water station which is so important in keeping hydrated. Parking costs are better than some other hotels in Waikiki. The staff especially Melvin are terrific. Sharing information about the beaches and what to see or special places to eat. Great friendly people, hospitality with a capital H! We returned this time and will continue to make Lotus our place to stay in Honolulu! Thank you Melvin and staff for the glorious stay!

Pleasant boutique feel, great location, some furnishings need refresh
December 2024
Our peak season stay at the Lotus was priced at nearly $800 per night, which made certain issues more noticeable and unacceptable. While the hotel's location and general ambiance were great, some of the furnishings were worn and needed maintenance. Key issues included a sagging mattress, cracked furniture, badly stained upholstery, and a disgusting area rug, which could've and should've, easily been replaced. Although the room was spacious, clean, and well-appointed otherwise, these maintenance issues were hard to overlook.

On the positive side, the hotel offered many thoughtful amenities, such as slippers, bathrobes, a Illy espresso machine, proper glassware and coffee cups/saucers, complimentary water bottles, and a filtered water dispenser in the lobby. The front desk staff was professional, and housekeeping did their best. There were also good-quality bicycles, towels, beach chairs, and a daily glass of wine provided at the bar. Other perks included a nice greeting at check-in, a "games" room, and an exercise room with park views.

Despite the room issues, the stay was relaxing, with a prime location next to the beach away from the busy Waikiki strip, and all of that chaos, yet walking distance to shops, parks and a few good restaurants nearby. Easy public parking across the street, or paid on site for the usual hotel parking rates. The hotel's "boutique" feel and the excellent on-site fine dining at The Arden restaurant added to the experience. And the lobby smelled like tropical flowers. The upper floor corner room with a view of Diamond Head and the ocean was particularly impressive and seemed to have fewer issues than the first one we stayed in (the upholstery was refreshed, rug was cleaner...the bed unfortunately, was still a marshmallow, if you prefer firm mattress you might have issue). This hotel would not be ideal for young children, especially with the upper floor lanai, and it lacked a pool, if that's important. This is great for couples, friend groups, singles, adult families or families with teens. Large public beach here is much less chaotic and crowded than the ones in front of the hotel strip in central Waikiki. The sunsets here are spectacular! Plan to stay if you qualify for a local's rate or lower than peak season rate and make a reservation at the Arden.

We booked our trip in late December, when most hotels were already fully booked, and we were fortunate to find availability at this wonderful property. From the very start, the front desk associate was incredibly helpful, working with us to find a room and rate that fit both our budget and expectations. I was genuinely surprised to secure a booking during such a busy time.

Upon our late-night arrival, we were greeted with a warm smile and exceptional service from the front desk team. They graciously allowed our friend to park in the garage while we unpacked and enjoyed a relaxing nightcap before turning in. The level of care and attention to detail was evident from the moment we arrived.

Throughout our stay, the overarching theme was one of impeccable service: "Yes, we can do that," "Is there anything further you need?"—every request we made was met with enthusiasm and thoughtful suggestions that truly enhanced our experience. We were delighted by the cold, refreshing water available in the lobby and the personal water "yetis" provided to us during our stay—it was a thoughtful touch.

The hotel also offers complimentary use of bikes, lounge chairs, and towels, which we took full advantage of every day. No request was too big or small, and everything we needed was promptly accommodated.

A special mention goes to Jeremy at the bar, who went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable experience. After I fell ill one evening, he had the chef prepare something special for me, which was much appreciated. Jeremy also crafted the best espresso martini I've ever had—a high bar, given I've had many!

We’d also like to give a special shout-out to Melvin, Rhian, Yoobi, whose hospitality made each day and night special. Their warm, attentive service truly made our trip memorable.

Whether you're visiting from the Mainland, abroad, or simply in need of a relaxing staycation, I highly recommend this hotel. Our 2024 holiday trip was nothing short of exceptional, and Lotus truly made it one to remember.

Thank you to the entire team for making our holiday stay so enjoyable.

We absolutely love staying at the Lotus Honolulu at Diamond Head! I believe this was our 5th time staying here and it never fails to exceed expectation. We love the quiet location at the far end of Waikiki, away from the crowds and noise. The rooms are ridiculously comfortable and spacious! The toiletry products are Lather and all smell amazing. I love the robes (and even bought one for myself when checking out this time around). Slippers are provided and very comfortable. They even provide complimentary water bottles with the Lotus name on to use while staying AND take home when checking out for a lovely little souvenir. Although not directly on the beach there is direct access to the beach via a very short walk. The views are incredible (Diamond Head, the ocean, and a fantastic view of Waikiki beach from the upper floors from the open-air hallway. Check-in is super easy and quick, and you're provided with a lemon-grass scented cold hand towel (so lovely when you arrive all hot and sweaty) and a small cold glass of lilikoi (passionfruit) juice (it's non-alcoholic so okay for kiddos, too!). The staff are the absolute NICEST! Melvin was very helpful at check-out, getting me a robe and a small gift for my mom (purple silk hand-woven lei). I cannot recommend this place highly enough. We will always stay at the Lotus when on Oahu!

The Lotus is my Hawaiian home. That is how the entire staff make you feel. With the outstanding location, Waikiki is a pleasant 15 minute walk, Arden, the excellent on site restaurant and the Barefoot Cafe is located on the water, a 10 min walk. A small store is located next door for all your needs.

The rooms are very comfortable with private balcony, mini fridge, coffee maker and microwave. Each room is provided with water bottles that can be filled in the lobby. Housekeeping is awesome, attending to your room on daily or frequency of your choice basis. For that very special occasion the Penthouse is available.

The Lotus now has in house massage provide by Aloha Body Mind Soul with the best massage therapists on the island.

Easy access to the hotel, with the option of avoiding Waikiki traffic, and the freedom to roam the rest of Oahu. The park is located across the street and the walk up Diamond Road, past the Lighthouse, is one of my favorites.

I can honestly say, all my stays at the Lotus have been the very best. If you want that personal Waikiki experience, the Lotus is that hotel. I am sure it will feel like home to you as well.

This was our third stay at the Lotus, spanning several years, and it is better than ever. We arrived in the morning after a long flight from the East Coast of the mainland and our room was ready!! Aloha! QWe received a warm welcome from Anne and Melvin, they were charming and efficient and helped us with our bags too. We were given chits for a complimentary glass of wine each, for each day for the week we were staying. We were too busy to use them all, but there is a lovely bar in the hotel’s Alden restaurant. Last time we stayed the former restaurant space was being renovated, and what an impressive change! The current menu is small but well curated, we are admittedly foodies and every dish we tried was truly outstanding. We were at first a bit uncertain at the sharing concept of the menu, but it’s actually a great way to try several dishes at amazingly reasonable prices. The wine list is extensive, I believe the owner is really into fine wines but there is a range of prices. Be sure to try the ahi and deserts. The hotel is situated so all balconies face toward Diamond Head, and there is a great view toward Waikiki from the breezeways. We prefer this quieter end of the beach, it’s a nice walk to the more heavily touristed areas. The restaurant doesn’t open until 5 pm but we had a small fridge and coffee/tea machine (with illy coffee pods!) so with fresh fruit and yogurt from local shops we were good for breakfast - on the balcony of course. More substantial breakfast and lunch fare can be found at the Beach Shack just a ten minute walk away. The bathroom amenities are also high quality, Lather brand - which our daughter uses at home as she has very sensitive skin. We had a great stay and look forward to returning.

We stayed 5 nights. We felt warmly received offered juice and warm towels to freshen up and were given the 10th floor which was very nice. Our room overlooked Diamond Head Volcano as well as the ocean.
What we liked about the room is that it had massive sliding glass doors that open so wide and then seem to disappear. When you open these doors it really extend the size of the room. We so enjoyed our time out on the balcony. The sun would peak over Diamond Head, each morning was such a treat. The bed was clean and comfortable. The room decor reflected the Hawaiian Islands well.
The room was a bit worn. The towels were not thick and plush,( I think when you are in Hawaii you come with an expectation of thick and plush towels. The bathroom was big and clean. great coffee maker. We loved the glasses in the room and were given water thermos' that we took advantage of filling our bottles with fresh water in the lobby day and night.
the hotel was very close to the beach and walking path. We are so grateful for our first visit to Hawaii!

We liked being away from the busy part of the area. There was Russel's convenient store close that we relied upon.

This really was walkable to Waikiki (good sidewalks/trails, lighting, lots of people) and we did it multiple times. We were glad we stayed here for the calm of it. The park across the street truly is used by the community area, but we saw tourists walking/running all hours of day there too.
We stayed in an ocean view premium room. I probably would have upgraded to corner for $30/night given the chance again. The view of Diamond Head was cool for sunrise/sunset from the lanai, and also outside our room door the day/night views of Honolulu were both cool. It wasn't a straight view to the ocean but you could see it enough we enjoyed it.
Surprisingly big room. I did not see fridge or microwave on listing when I booked, but we had both. Robes and slippers too. In case you're wondering like I did, the toiletries provided were shampoo, conditioner, body wash, face wipe/makeup remover, cottonball and qtips.
Enough towels and they were changed every day.
We did use the laundry, it's in a locked room, and saw several other guests using it too, but we did not have to wait. We bought soap from front desk for $1/load.
We always were able to get beach chairs and towels. I'd say it's more than 60 steps to the beach but it was close and we didn't have trouble finding spots to sit. It's a small beach though, so not for if you like to go for walks on the beach.
There were some visible things that could use freshening up, but I considered it all clean. I would stay here again.

A truly excellent hotel. Very charming detail coupled w the cool vibe of contemporary Waikiki meeting old world Honolulu. Staff is incredibly friendly and will shower you with a grace of Hawaiian hospitality.

Great location on the mellow side of Waikiki with incredible views of Diamond Head and easy access to the beach, restaurants, parks, the zoo, the aquarium, the high energy surfer enclaves and high end boutiques.

The Lotus has nice amenities that will offer plenty of options for leisure and recreation. Grab sone towels and a few beach chairs for soaking up the sun. Perhaps a few bikes. The hotel offers parking on premise and has a quaint restaurant and lounge called TBD on the second floor.

The aesthetics are warm and inviting where creams and caramels mingle w handsome island and Polynesian furniture and art work.

The rooms are quaint and very comfortable. There is easy access to a small balcony with two comfortable chairs and a nice coffee table. Beds and linens were clean and inviting. Bathroom was comfortable w good space. Shower stall was efficient w great pressure and nice toiletries. Plenty of towels. There was a large safe, small fridge, ice bucket, cocktail glasses and two Illy espresso cups and complimentary vacuum packed espresso servings. WiFi was free and worked great.

I rate the Lotus w a very high recommendation and will book again when visiting Honolulu! Aloha!

Great location! Absolutely a breathtaking views. From the moment we arrived, the vibe was pure aloha. The staff greeted us warmly with cold towels and refreshing POG juice, setting the tone for a relaxing stay.

Our room featured a lovely lanai with breathtaking views of Waikiki’s city lights at night, stunning sunsets to the west, and serene sunrises over Diamondhead. It was the perfect spot to unwind and take in the beauty of classic Hawaii.

The thoughtful touches really stood out—complimentary bikes, beach towels and chairs made our beach days effortless and enjoyable. The Lotus truly provided a tranquil escape, blending comfort, elegance, and authentic Hawaiian hospitality.

The only bummer was the key were demagnetized several times. So we had to go to the front desk several times during our 2 day stay.

We’ll definitely be back for another peaceful getaway!

Yes, Valet parking only, $40 a night. Plus there is on site Hui car: Hui is a free, keyless, car-sharing app that provides instant access to Hawaii's largest network of shared cars. Hui can be reserved by the minute or by the day and requires nothing but a smartphone to operate

Yes, my family walked from the hotel to the crater entrance. Paki Avenue to Monsarrat. It took about 30-45 minutes one way. There is a continuous sidewalk until the entrance road. Even though it's fairly sunny and mostly uphill, I'd think anyone in moderately good shape could manage this walk.

I used the bikes and they are perfectly fine for touring the waterfront, but these are not bikes I would trust for anything more extreme if you are a hearty bicyclist. It is a very nice and friendly hotel, thats for sure.
