My family and I spent 7 nights at the beautiful Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach. We had the Premier Oceanfront Queen room with Club access. After reading several reviews I do have to admit I was very skeptical. Our check in process was very, very slow it took us over and hr to check in, because only 2 people were working at the desk. The hotel location is great, our ocean view was outstanding, the hotel is also very clean and the staff is also very friendly. The staff mostly keeps in contact by text messages. The bathroom is on the smaller side, our shower never drained properly during our stay, after complaining twice we were just over it. Housekeeping comes every 3 days, which we were kk with. My family and I were gone on that 3rd day on a tour from 7 am to 5:00pm. Upon arrival to our room we noticed our room was never serviced. After contacting the front desk we were told that housekeeping an come up to 6pm. When they she did finally arrived we were getting ready for dinner she was not a very happy camper she never serviced our room, she handed us some clean towels and a roll of toilet paper with a lot of attitude and left. I fully understand a lot of businesses are still very understaffed due to Covid, but you are still charging regular prices in some cases prices are even higher, and as guests we are not being given the same service. Longboard club access is great and the staff is amazing. The staff at the pool area is not very warm and welcoming. …
The location of the 'Alohilani was absolutely stunning, perfect, and easy for beach access, shopping, and dining. I loved we were able to take advantage of the partnership with Beach Candy so we could have complimentary rentals of things like coolers and floats for the beach. There were a few too many kids in the pool and hot tub, and it would have been a better experience if there were adult-only hours for the hot tub after 7pm. It was hard to enjoy Champagne and a romantic experience with little kids jumping in and screaming. The front desk was very nice and accommodating, and went out of their way with recommendations from everything as off-resort breakfast and nail salons. I was never able to get the concierge on the phone, but there was a texting service that was helpful. The rooms were fantastic- clean, with comfy cozy bedding and lovely Japanese-style toilet/bidets. We stayed for three nights and it was a way better experience than our previous five days at airbnb's. Absolutely lovely. …
I am writing about the excellent service I had from the lovely Australian girl named Erin up on the beautiful outdoor Swell Bar at the Alohilani hotel....She is such a hard worker and just so friendly and welcoming.. she's definitely "on it" thats for sure..... A great employee, and they are very lucky to have her.... I visit Honolulu often as I'm from the outer island of Kauai, and always stay at the Alohilani ... Erin played a huge part in making my last visit special.. I didn't need to leave the hotel for sunset drinks and a light dinner and for me this is perfect.. Thank you Erin...
Great place to stay close to the beach, valet service totally worth every penny! Laundry service was glad to have it when my son got sick and the staff was super helpful in bringing new bedding to our room when my son got sick in bed!
Wow and wow this place amazing. But the server Erin was incredible she was so intentive with us recommended the chicken bacon avocado flatbread. She was incredible we did not have to wait long for our food much. She was on it with switched out the ice buckets, refilled all the juices that came with the bottles. she was an amazing I cannot wait to request her next month definitely recommend her as a server. I love hearing her Australian accent. She also recommended the live music on other nights. Definitely I recommend Erin next time you go to Swell. Make Reservations for the firepit for sure!!
Hotel is OK, but definitely not a 5-star resort! I’d give it a 5/5 for a 3-star resort. We paid a premium over the partial ocean view room, but we basically ended up in a partial view room. When we complained they said the room was ocean view and for a better view we need to upgrade to a higher room. We were supposed to get perks and upgrades with Amex’s Fine Hotels program that we never got! They claimed that they do room service every other day to be green, and they never even showed up every other day either! We had to look for the usual basic amenities like shampoo and stuff, since we got one of each and they were never refilled. Reception and employees are ok for a standard hotel but nothing outstanding for a 4/5-star hotel! Location is good, and you pay only for the premium location! Don’t expect anything outstanding in the hotel!…
My friends and I booked 2 rooms at different times. Upon checking in, they were able to put us on the same floor, which was awesome. The location couldn’t have been better. The infinity pool is amazing. The bartenders need a little more training, but overall I would definitely stay there again. The rooms are spacious and the balcony is nice. I had a view of the ocean as well as a view of diamond pike. Picture is view from the balcony
This review is for the Swell Bar only. Erin & Kiana were excellent! We had a birthday celebration here a few weeks ago and they were the sweetest. Super attentive and we had a lot of fun. We were seated closest to the pool and had a great view of the entire pool bar area. There was a DJ that day and we loved him too. Great vibes all around!!
This resort was very dirty. The chair in the bedroom had turned black as it hadn’t been cleaned along with the rug and bathroom. The shower had mild growing at the bottom. The bathroom was insanely small and all of the pictures online are heavily edited and misleading. Staff was not helpful and couldn’t properly explain the additional amenities and the longboard club. Pool area was definitely not the best in Waikiki as it was blocked by a building, is quite small and had minimal ocean views at best. I was astonished that the swell pool bar didn’t have a server and we were asked to order and pick up our food from the bar, horrible service. I have no problem paying extra for service and amenities but this “resort” fell below expectations and at best would be a 1 star resort. As a traveller staying in upscale resorts, this is one of the dirtiest resorts I’ve experienced and was left extremely disappointed. the resort needs to immediately make changes to cleaning, replacing the chairs and maintenance all around. The only positive was the ocean was a 30 second walk from the oceanfront rooms (not ocean view). …
Staying at Alohilani was incredible. 3 couples travelling, all had fabulous rooms overlooking the ocean. Definitely worth upgrading to full ocean. Swell pool area is beautiful. Surrounded by Cabanas with lots of seating options in the middle. Great bar. Pool and Spa so relaxing with lots of lounges and staff incredible. One of the attendants Jones is amazing but all the staff are fabulous. Jones brings out little treats to enjoy while lounging by the pool. Then there is Longboard the club lounge, great variety of breakfast options to enjoy in a very comfortable area where you can be in air con or outside. We chose to be outside. Make sure you get included access to Longboard in the evenings even if it’s for only a few nights. So relaxing to either go for a few drinks and snacks before dinner or just hang out and have some freshly cooked pasta by the chef and then move into swell bar after 8pm. Live entertainment in Swell bar the nights we were there. The Longboard staff are incredibly friendly and look after the guests exceptionally well. Special mention must go out to Micah, Anson, Go & Nestor who could not do enough for us. The Hotel Manager, Mark Waller is incredible. He made sure we were looked after and that our stay was a memorable one. One morning we met in the lobby early and enjoyed a traditional Hawaiian cleansing ceremony across the road at the beach. The hotel can make a reservation. Well worth getting up early for it. Thank you to all staff at the resort who made our holiday so special…
