Our family had multiple rooms within the Waikiki Monarch hotel.
The location of the hotel is nice if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle and nightlife of the main strip of Waikiki. Waikiki Monarch is a family friendly hotel with a pool, hot tub, laundry facilities, dining options, a bar, and car rental on site. It’s a short walk to the beach or lagoon which is very good he have small children swim.
From my understanding the hotel is under some renovations so my room was newer and more updated. The housekeeping was not the best. There where bits of broken glass in the entry of the room and some potato chip crumbs in the seating area.
My sons room had partial renovations just yet we had to have maintenance come in and do a minor repair while we were there.
Day two the entire bank of elevators was down for maintenance for a couple of hours. I realize maintenance has to be done, don’t know if there was a way around shutting down all the elevators for the hotel side at one time?
Not sure what the deal is with the key cards for this hotel we had to have our key cards programmed multiple times within a short five days day didn’t matter which room other guess were experiencing the same problem I think maybe they need to upgrade that system from my understanding it’s a huge problem.
Finally, it seems as though the alarm system for the adjoining condominium complex is linked to the hotel and an entire evacuation was call at 11:42pm it seemed chaotic we finally were informed that it was a false alarm by word of mouth nothing official.
I can tell the staff is truly concerned about making the customer experience better I’ll probably give it another try in another year or two and see if they’ve managed to pull everything together right now I can only offer 2 1/2 to 3 stars.

I’m writing this fully aware this is a discount hotel but there are a few things that could have been better. The front desk staff was friendly but the check in process was a little slow. It could be their computer system. Our room was pretty spacious and had a view of the canal. The pool was pretty nice with shaded seating areas.

On to why 3 stars. The room was clean-ish but it was very old. Bathroom was very outdated. The towels were paper thin didn’t dry much. There was ONE bar of soap and 2 tiny bottles of conditioning shampoo. We ended up showering with shampoo as we needed the soap to wash hands. There was no stand for suitcase so we put our suitcase on the table. There were only 2 hangers total and the closet needed a wipe and a coat of paint desperately. There was also no mirror other than one in the bathroom. There’s a little store right downstairs but walk a few more steps to 7-11 if you don’t want to pay $4 for a bottle of water. Location is we good and the food trucks downstairs were cool.

All and all I don’t think I’ll return. I had stayed at other similar price point but better in the area. Or if you’re only staying for 1-2 nights it’d be fine but not for a longer stay in my opinion.

The best thing about this property was TAILA. She was so friendly and so happy every time I saw her. The pool was nice, but I’m not sure where you get any towels to use there and the lounge chairs are very cheap. You have to bring your dirty towels downstairs to the front office, which is only open from 9 to 5 and switch for new towels. The room was nothing like any photograph that we had seen previously. Bait and switch! It was very old outdated, and every single piece of furniture was worn down. The walls were dirty and the pillows were so thin can’t even explain. The walls are so thin you can hear TV next-door. A magic eraser would go along way. They charge you five dollars per bag if you need them to hold onto your luggage. It’s a great location, though to everything you need lots of food, the beach shopping in every direction. But you do get what you pay for, but maybe they should change their name to Bob’s bargain discount hotel. They have spring loaded beds and at least we didn’t have any bedbugs

Incredibly unprofessional! We're in the middle of a pandemic, and they charged us almost $500 to cancel a reservation which the government is currently forbidding us from keeping. We tried contacting them for 4 weeks with zero response and finally just had to pay to cancel the reservation through Booking.com or pay the full $1300 for the stay. Booking.com contacted them on our behalf and their response was basically "too bad, pay to cancel". Deplorable.

Reasonably priced hotel with a super sunny swimming pool with airconditioned with a laid back not to bother guest atmosphere. The hotel is close to everything and has a 24-hour store right next to the hotel with everything one could need. This hotel could even offer kitchenette if you would like to save money on food by purchasing and cooking meals. One can also find supermarkets that are close by within convenience.

I must say that I felt the ALOHA spirit at Waikiki Monarch Hotel. The hostess of the hotel was one of the most professional and accommodating people in the industry and whom I have met while staying in the area for over 2 months.

I was ironically supposed to stay at another hotel and unfortunately had a terrible experience. I then moved my reservation to the Waikiki Monarch. Upon hearing my previous experience, the hostess was apologetic and extremely understanding. She has delievered a top notch experience, and I am truly grateful that staying at this hotel has been completely stress free.

I would highly recommend staying at the Waikiki Monarch Hotel while visiting Oahu. Besides the customer service, the room was clean, cool and included speedy wifi which was perfect for me as I was working remotely.

The facility does include a business center which includes wifi and a free printing center. It also has a poll and Jacuzzi area :)

This place was advertised as a work from home location but it is absolutely disgusting & infested with cockroaches. Ive stayed in long term stays in O'ahu and I've never had a bad experience until now. The place is infested with roaches, smells bad, there was pubic hair all over the room. The walls are also paper thin and people are playing loud music/being loud in the hallways. Do yourself a huge favor and book something nicer. Your physical and mental health deserve it.

Nice hotel with a nice view of the river. If you want a budget friendly place to stay i recommend this hotel. Good location in Waikiki you can walk going to the beach like 15 mins. RYKKY and SHERYL were so hospitable and show us excellent service. Thank you so much! We will be back again.

We had 4 nights at the Waikiki Monarch and found it to be a strange experience. We booked it through Booking.com and stayed in apartment 2703A.

On the positive side, our apartment had an amazing view of Waikiki, right out to the ocean, as well as along the canal – very inspiring! The location also was very good, situated on the western end of Wikiki. It was only a 10min walk to the beach and about 10min over to Ala Moana Mall and beach park. There was a good internet-enabled TV with about every channel and streaming service you could want – really a nice setup.

On the negative side, the apartment was not very well cleaned upon our arrival, especially the floor. A couple of the dining chairs and the couch were covered in stains and were downright disgusting. The apartment was lacking a few basics, such as bedside cabinets and dressers/drawers for storing clothes. I had to lay out all my clothes on the floor along the hallway wall. We also felt the lighting was quite dim in the evenings. The kitchen was small and outfitted with only the basics. The kitchen faucet was loose and about ready to fall off – a little basic maintenance would’ve been nice.

Another thing that was odd was that there was no reception or other onsite staff which could be called on if required. We were told to collect our key from a little lock box. We arrived at around 1pm, and since we weren’t allowed to check in until the very late hour of 4pm, we asked if we could store our bags and were told we actually had to pay for bag storage ($5/bag) for the 3 hours. It’s the first time we’ve ever had the experience of having to pay for bag storage at the hotel while waiting for check-in! Not impressed!

In any case, we won’t be staying here anytime soon. Not recommended – there are so many far better places to stay in Waikiki. Don’t make the mistake we did.

We had a mini fridge and microwave-but I’m unsure if all rooms have this. The beach is not close, but it is about a mile to Fort DeRussy beach park.

There are two ways on this place The upper level is vacational rentals flats, the lower is an hotel. exactly the same rooms. By random, I use both 2 days in one part and 3 days in the other parts because it is advertised on different names. The same price. The advantage of the hotel is you have a receptionist, that means someone to speak with, the rentals only electronic code and if necessary someone by phone. It was very convenient for me, close to the Convention Center where I attended a conference and close to Waikiki beach but probably not the most exciting stay in Hawai Bertrand
