Nestled close to Waikiki Beach, the Pacific Monarch Hotel is lauded for its prime location, offering easy access to nearby attractions and stunning ocean views. While some guests find the amenities a bit dated, the rooftop pool and kitchen-equipped rooms are frequently praised.
The retro charm of the hotel adds to its clean and comfortable atmosphere, though the city's hustle and bustle can sometimes seep into the quieter sanctuary of the rooms. Despite the occasional noise, the excellent service and overall cleanliness contribute to the hotel being considered a good value by many travelers.

Detailed Reviews
Excellent property, perfectly close to anything & everything you might need (including bus routes). This property must have been (still is?) a condo/time share operation, the rooms are much more like apartments than a hotel or AirBnB "flips." It feels slightly dated in appointments and decor, but these days a retro look is chic. The kitchen has a large fridge, stove, coffee maker, microwave, etc. A few basic food items would have been appreciated (e.g., salt and pepper). There is a good variety of rooms to choose from to fit your budget (we had a deluxe 28th floor "full ocean view" room with a very spacious balcony). There is a front desk that can help with anything from tours to bus info, will supply you with fresh laundry, beach towels, even beach chairs and umbrellas. A two block walk to Waikiki Beach, it is nonetheless fairly quiet at night. I will definitely stay there whenever I get to Honolulu in the future.

I stayed on impulse in 2023, returned in 2024 and immediately reconnected with wonderful front desk staff Danny, Keiko, Chistieann and Cherly for whom nothing is too much trouble and it’s always delivered with a smile. Every room is a studio with a good bathroom and kitchenette facilities, most have a balcony and sea view, and it’s only a couple of minutes walk to the beach. There’s in-house parking for drivers and a great bus connection right outside for everyone else. Best of all there are real cups and plates that are100% reusable, no paper cups and food trays to add to Oahu’s already overloaded burden

I would definitely stay here again! Great value and only 2 blocks away from Duke Statue on Waikiki Beach. The room was decent size with queen bed, couch, and dining table. We also had a little kitchen with a 2 burner stove, microwave, and mini fridge. The A/C wasn’t very cold but was able to keep the room at a comfortable cool temperature. It was right next to the bed which is nice because that’s where we needed it most as we weren’t in our room very much other than to sleep. Some may find the A/C noisy but I liked it as the hum created white noise. We were right next to the elevator and didn’t hear any noise even when A/C was off. Over all the room may be seen as dated by some, but it was very clean and well kept. The only issue was the shower head was a little low. I’m 6 ft tall and it was just above shoulder level. Not a big deal. Just had to bend over to was my head. The beach towels they let you borrow are nice and they also have beach chairs that can be borrowed depending upon availability.

I hate paying for the fountain in the lobby, but I get it that some find those visuals an essential part of the experience. You won't find that at the Pacific Monarch. The suites are clean, the beds and linens are clean, there is a well equipped kitchen with a full size range/oven, a crock pot toaster, microwave, European size refrigerator, cooking and eating utensils, stoneware plates, bowls, cups, saucers, a coffee maker and dishtowels. We have been there twice; an ocean view suite the first time on the 14th floor and a partial this time on the 22nd. There is a convertible sofa in the living room, a dining table where the family can eat if you choose an ocean view or partial OV suite. There are also smaller studios with smaller appliances but we have never stayed in one; they too seem nice but I imagine are even less expensive. This is an older condo/hotel building with residents, so there are never kids running up and down the hallways at 02:00 in the morning; it's quiet. This time we slept with both the bed room and living room sliding glass doors open and it was wonderful to do so without AC; sleeping in just fresh Hawaii ocean breezes all through the night; wonderful. The lanais, at least for the corner suites are large and airy. the ones for the ocean view suites are very large and all offer great views of some combination of Honolulu, the mountains, Diamond Head, or the ocean and a patio table with chairs for four. It's only two short blocks from Waikiki Beach. Service is friendly and efficient; everyone seems to understand there are myriad other choices you could have made. The internet is password protected and the flat screen TV is local cable; CNN, some rerun channels, QVC, and the like. HBO or maybe STARS would be nice. The PM is set up like a home away from home, remember, people actually live there. It's not fancy but suitable for those who just want great views, clean quarters, a great little kitchen to maybe cook their own breakfast, lunch, or even dinner, or just refrigerate and reheat some restaurant leftovers. It's humble but homey and that's just fine for us when in Honolulu. We have grown to love our stays in the little suites in the Pacific Monarch.

After a redirected flight left me stranded in Honolulu for the night, I found myself at the Pacific Monarch. The staff were polite and genuine, helping me figure out my arraignments, which was helpful as a 24 year old with no experience in booking a hotel stay. They also helped store my bags (after checkout) while I spent the afternoon at Waikiki while waiting out my flight. The rooftop pool is nice, and the views from the roof are wonderful. I wish I had more time there to help my experience on Oahu, and when I go back, I will strongly consider the Pacific Monarch. The beach is a two minute walk away and there is a number of food options within a short distance. The room itself was fine, good for the price and excellent considering my flight circumstances. I was able to book a room easily at 10:30 PM same day, and for its prominent location near Waikiki, I was pleased to be able to experience it.

Great location, ocean views, very friendly and helpful staff. I love when we walk into the lobby and the staff says, "Aloha Welcome Home!" Christieann was especially fun and friendly. We really felt at home here. Cold lemon water always available in the lobby was very refreshing and welcoming. It is very convenient to have a kitchenette.
The best Musubi downstairs, right outside the door!
Walking distance to freshly made Marugami Udon, with Dole Whip and Kalua pork next door to Udon. Walk to Shave ice, poke, shopping and the beach. Walk to the very best in the world Kouign Amann at b. patisserie in Kona Cafe at the International Market.
Pacific Monarch was our home base for a multi-generational family reunion birthdays celebration. Candace in the reservations office was very helpful for booking multiple rooms.
If you want to be in Waikiki, Pacific Monarch is a great value, great location, friendly and comfortable.

Friendly helpful staff (Christieann), clean with every thing you need for a week's stay. The rooftop pool, spa, lounge, and grilling station are wonderful. Laundry facilities and parking for a fee is available but why have a car when this location is so convenient to restaurants and the beaches.

I checked in in the morning, but it went smoothly and without any extra charges. There were several staff members who could speak Japanese, and they kindly explained to me how to use the parking lot, which was very helpful. The location was very good, close to Waikiki Beach, so it was very convenient for going to the beach and shopping. The Pink Line bus stop, parks, and rental car companies were also nearby, which was very convenient. However, the electric cooker in the room was not powerful enough, so it took a long time to boil the food when I cooked it in a pot, which was disappointing.

I am a repeat visitor to the Pacific Monarch, going every year in January and returning February to my home. It is really ideal for my purposes: access to the beach, convenient to the public transit system, and with an abundance of dining options nearby. From walking out the door of my condominium to being all set up in my chair on the beach is always under 10 minutes, total time. I timed the actual walk from the lobby to the beach as under 2 minutes. Perfect! Going back to the room for lunch is easy. You can watch sunset on the beach, be back in your room showered and shaved and in a local restaurant in half an hour to an hour, max. Roof top pool and hot tub are a treat, too.
Two important caveats:
1. This is not a fancy hotel. It is a condominium building with each unit having a kitchen/kitchenette for meals inside. The main advantages are the practical aspects to it; if you are looking for a luxury hotel experience, this is not the place for you. If pragmatism and convenience/access are the most important considerations for you, this property is perfect,
2. This caveat is critical. It is important to understand for anyone from out of the area/first timers here that Honolulu is a city, with all the issues that go along with that. Waikiki is vibrant, busy, has lots of traffic, tons of pedestrians and people on scooters, carrying surfboards, etc., and there is noise. If you are looking for a quiet, remote and tranquil hangout on the beach, do not come to Waikiki, this is not the kind of place this is. If you like cities in general, and even more, cities with a beach, this is ideal!

Booked this hotel day of stay and was pleasantly surprised! Amazing location, 2 blocks from main part of Waikiki Beach and walkable to International Marketplace, Royal Hawaiian Center, shopping, restaurants, etc. If you're looking for a chic/glamorous hotel, this is not the hotel for you. The property is dated and could use some serious renovations (ie carpets were OLD and filthy, old whicker couch/chairs, old artwork on the walls, etc) but if you can look past the 1980s feel, it's a great location and my room (2306) had so much potential! Wrap around windows with a fabulous view of the mountains, city, ocean and partial view of Diamond Head, balcony, full kitchen, dining area, living area and separate bedroom. 2 twin size beds in the room. Staff was pleasant and helpful. They also have cucumber infused water in the lobby area. Doors to elevators require a key, which I appreciated as a solo traveler and made me feel secure. Rooftop pool and jacuzzi with awesome view. :)

No; however, you can pre-purchase a shuttle ride from the airport to the hotel for about $26.00
Our Ac was in living room not the main bedroom. Worked good. No noise noticed from other people in rooms. Outside is always noisy!! every hotel about the same in Oahu that we've stayed at. They were awesome about delivery of anything( more towels , sheets) shampoo ECT.
If your looking for super quiet may want to stay somewhere out of Waikiki.
Sorry to say there is no free breakfast.
