I booked a pool view room through Rakuten Travel, but on the day, they upgraded me to an ocean view room in the high-rise Fulla Tower without me saying anything. It was the second room from the back on the ocean side, and I could see the fireworks from the Hilton. Since there were two adults and a toddler, I requested a two queen room in advance, and they also fulfilled that request. Thank you very much.
I didn't have high expectations for the food after reading a lot of reviews, but it was enough for breakfast. The omelet was full of ingredients and cheese, and it was just right for two people to share. I saw some people taking it back to their room to eat. The breakfast venue was pretty full, so it was nice to be able to do that.
The pool was right next to the jacuzzi, so you could go back and forth, and the pool water wasn't cold, so adults could enjoy it too. Other hotels were cold, so I had to be determined every time. This hotel was not shaded in the evening, so it was busy until late.
The only thing that could be improved is that the water pressure in the shower was weak, and it took a while to adjust the temperature.
Also, the elevator requires you to swipe your card key every time, which is a bit of a hassle since the contact isn't perfect. This was especially annoying since the previous night we stayed there on a bracelet system.
The location is great, as you can find Beach Walk on the first floor, where you can find a delicious acai bowl bar and an ABCSTORE right in front of you. You can also get on the Pink Line from in front of the Hokulani in just a minute's walk.
We were considering a condominium as we have children, but this hotel was so satisfying that we would like to stay here again next time.

A couple of things to note :
Fee's - There are mandatory resort AND valet parking fee's per day (I think the resort fee was $40 per day + tax per room and the parking was and additional $45 + tax per day per car). There is no self park. In those fee's however, breakfast is included which was great and having the ease of someone parking your car after a long day and delivering it again when you need it was much appreciated (and I'm one that doesn't normally use valet parking ). The fee's also include daily housekeeping which most hotels don't always do anymore after COVID. I personally really loved and appreciated coming back to a clean, made up room after returning from a long day in the heat. And for those of you who like happy hour - they offer that as well. So are the mandatory fee's high? Yes they are. But they are the worth it? In my opinion, Definitely !!
Room Selection - We had 2 rooms in the Hula Tower and we absolutely LOVED it !! The Embassy has many different room categories but if you can swing an ocean view or partial ocean view room - I highly recommend it. Being able to see the waves every day and the sunsets every evening was amazing. Please note though that even if you pay extra for a partial ocean or ocean view, this hotel is NOT ocean front. The Embassy is wedged between other buildings so you are not going to get an ocean front view so don't expect it. But what you do get is terms of ocean view is truly lovely and my family really appreciated and loved the room we had. I also HIGHLY recommend the 2 bedroom 2 bath suites for larger families. I loved that my 4 kids, husband and I could all stay together rather than everyone splitting up into 2 rooms.
Final note - Thank you so much Gianna for your wonderful hospitality when we checked in and for bending backwards to make our stay so enjoyable. The Embassy Waikiki is truly lucky to have you. Thank you also to Cary (in the dining area at breakfast) who made us feel so welcome each and every day. He provided a wealth of local knowledge and it was a pleasure talking to him every morning. Thank you also to Erick who assisted us when Gianna was unavailable. But it wasn't jus these 3 individuals. Every team member at this Embassy be it guest services, housekeeping, dining or valet goes above and beyond in term of customer service and it's something that should be acknowledged.

What I liked:
This is one of a few hotel options in Waikiki that has "standard rooms/suites" that can comfortably accommodate larger families, as is the case with most Embassy suites. The Embassy Suites is nicely located near what I consider to be the main Waikiki beach area - with all the main sights within walking distance. Nearby dining options are plentiful and there is always something going on in the shopping area next to the hotel. The complimentary breakfast is amazing - and they know how to cater to a large breakfast crowd that may all show up at the same time. Also, nice evening reception for all guests, with a bit of a "skip the line" system for Diamond guests. The assigned room was large enough to accommodate our group comfortably, and the room was prepared as requested. At first, I thought I was "downgraded" to a low floor, but quickly realized the advantage of being on the same floor as the pool and the breakfast area - so from that perspective, nice room assignment, even though I did not get commanding views from this lower floor room (and balcony)
What to watch for/could be improved
Even though I am convinced that room housekeeping is kept to a high standard, there are some limitations when it comes to moisture and carpets. My allergies went into high gear while in the room - and frankly the decor and amenities could use a bit of an update or remodel... so yes, the main rooms are, in my opinion, a bit dated, but this is not uncommon in Waikiki. Front desk service was also quite uneven... sometimes meeting some very friendly employees... and sometimes... not so much
All in, this is a good hotel which offers families a decent place to stay at what is usually a reasonable price, by Waikiki standards. There are likely a few more modern or remodeled options - but not necessarily that many that would have all the amenities offered by the Embassy Suites

I was relieved to see that the calm atmosphere along the beach walk hasn't changed much since five years ago.
The room was a corner room on the 16th floor of the Aloha Tower, and although the living room was encroached on by the emergency stairs and was small, it was spacious enough for two people.
The view other than the sea is also beautiful.
(Looking at the floor map, it seems that there are also rooms that are "encroached on by the elevator")
The changes from five years ago are as follows.
- The business center is gone. Instead, a printer is installed in front of the elevator on the first floor.
- A washlet has been installed in the first floor toilet (but it didn't work well...)
- Free drinks at the evening reception are limited to two drinks per person
- The salad bar at breakfast has disappeared
- A bracelet given at check-in is required for breakfast and the evening reception
- The TV is now only for online broadcasts (I wanted to watch KIKU TV)
I think the staff's service is still satisfactory.
There were times when I wondered if there were not enough staff, but I don't think it was to the point where I felt dissatisfied.
(At least from my perspective)
I would like to use this service again the next time I come to Hawaii.

Location:
Not exactly beach front but yet, you can still have a glimpse of the ocean if you happen to get a room with an “ocean view”. We had an “ocean view” which is good enough. Location suites me as I’m a surfer. Surf board rentals at Big Wave Dave’s so it’s very handy as I get to keep my rental
board. They provide locker for storage. Pretty central to everything and walking distance to a lot of restaurants and shops.
Rooms: Big room, extra bed (sofa bed) was provided for our children. Room is cleaned every other day. Our designated floor housekeeper (she’s a filipina) is very good at detailing and always keep our room clean. Bring your important toiletries like toothbrushes as they are not provided in the amenities. Noise is blocked from the outside so it’s very good. Nothing exciting about the decor. Unlike those luxury hotels and accomodation that we have stayed in Asia.
FOOD: Happy hour is provided, complimentary drinks at the bar. Free snacks provided. Breakfast is a meh for us. Nothing exciting.
VALUE FOR MONEY: Prepare to spend a lot of money when you’re in Waikiki as it’s not cheap here. With the amount we pay for the accomodation, overall verdict is not really worth it. I guess, you only pay much because it’s near the beach and that’s about it. Inflation is really felt everywhere. Expect payingextra “resort fee” in your bill.
Overall experience in Waikiki, is still good enough. We’re from Australia, Gold Coast and we have the best beaches. And it’s free. But yet, it’s still a memorable aloha experience.
