Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Title says it all. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.

Compromising your health and safety is not worth saving a few bucks.

I notified the hostel management that we encountered bed bugs, roaches and criminals walking around the building 24/7 and they could care less how our stay was. They said we should have notified them the day we checked out, but we took the key to the front desk and left as fast as we could the next morning, even before management came in again at 7am! We were scared to be there one more minute, however, could not call police as an actual crime did not occur - yet.

There is no security at this building, and walking to and from our room, we had to weave around people hanging out in the stairwells and were even approached by several people who wanted to borrow money, get a date, or just plain trying to find out information about us. They all looked ghetto and criminal, I felt like I was in a housing project, not a hotel!

JUST DON'T DO IT. Oh, unless you're looking for a prostitute or tryna buy or sell drugs. Then I guess it's ok for you!

This is not a hostel, it is a junkie crash pad stealing money from innocent tourists. They made us pay a 35 dollar key deposit, and when we went to return the key, management said they only had a hundred dollar bill and couldn't give us the 35. I had 65 dollars change, but she said it doesn't work that way. I said I will go break the hundred at the store. No go. A scam, not to mention the hidden 4 dollar linen fee for 1 towel for me and my girlfriend. Also dirty, dangerous, full of bugs, and heroin addicts. The cops and the Better Business Bureau need to look into this dump

I had an reservation but didn't bother to stay:
The place has an overal shady atmosphere. The receptionist did look like a drug victim, which i wouldn't mind but i doubt that she would be able to solve the slightes problem and communicating with her was not very easy. There were shady strangers all over the places. As i read some bad reviews on other sites i wanted to check the room for bed bugs first. We didn't find any bed bugs, but the guys who already occupie the room told us, that there were lots of cockroches.

Generly i don't mint if a hostel is not the neatest and cleanes place on earth, but i got the overall impression that i wouldn't be able to relax there, so i decided to skip the experience

I had nowhere to stay and it was only for the night. Every other hostel on the block was taken and they had one bed free. It was in a room with two other guys...I was desperate so I took it. I think it was about $75 including the 35 dollar key deposit
I got to the room and one of the guys said he couldn't speak to me and was praying on his mat. He had festy scabs all over him. He got up and lit up his joint and offered it to me 10mins later. Not for me so I left and went for a walk.

Upon coming back, I went to walk to my room to find two police officers trying to take some man away who was trying to beat his girlfriend. I didn't want to get caught in the middle of it so went downstairs to watch TV with the manager whilst a huge racket was being made.
Literally 20mins later paramedics showed up to take this drug addict away who had flipped her switch because she skipped her "medicine" intake for the day.
I thought this was crazy and was making jokes with the people sitting next to me. They seemed a bit strange and after a little while, they got up and walked out. "Where are they going?"
Apparently they were HOMELESS people just visiting for a bit!!

Hahaha, well boring this place is not. It's filthy, it's eventful, full of very different people...apparently it's what you pay for. I stayed up until about 3AM singing and drinking with the manager and having a good time. I would've given this place one star, but the management here was just so lovely. They definitely went out of their way to make sure I (especially being a solo female traveller) felt as safe as they could make it. I'd never stay here again, but I'd pop in to see management if they're there for sure.
Also, my roommates were nice enough to wipe down my cling wrap covered bed with disinfectant and the other female roommate I was told about who comes knocking at about 4AM and stands in the middle of the room naked (she's crazy too) didn't decide to show up. So that was appreciated

This by far, was the worst hostel I have ever stayed at. It should not even be listed as a hostel, because its really a long turn, skid row motel, for alcoholics, drug addicts and criminals. Its not secure, not safe. DO NOT STAY THERE!! I was in a pinch, and it still was not worth it. Had to hide my stuff in a broom closet, that I thought no one would look in, so my stuff wouldn't get stolen. All the reviews are true. Horrible place. Don't do it!! If I could rate less then 1, I would. This place comes in at a negative five rating.

Reception is placed in a garage and the staff seems slightly mental disturbed. We shared a room with 4 beds where we shared the bathroom with another room with 4 beds, the bathroom filthy with cockroaches everywhere. The beds was covered with Saran Wrap and the mattresses underneath was all brown and filthy! Overall it's a horrible place...

We ordered a all-girls dorm, but when we got there they had no infor about our booking. So we got beds in a shared-room. and both the hostel, people and the room was super dodgy! dirty, stinky and no locks for either your bag or the bathroom. I wouldnt recomend this place at all! its cheap but not worth it,we ended up checking out after 2 hours. They have no refunds, but we Just let the money be and got out of there.

This hostel is passing for some constructions and modifications. They are improving a lot for the guests. Free fast wi-fi, that works on entire building. Housekeeping runs everyday that keeps the rooms tidy and clean. Roommates are very nice and friendly. On the ground floor you will find space for parking, and a good open area for guests, smoking or non smoking. Anytime you need help from the staff you can have it, therefore the front desk is not 24 hours. A 35 dollar key deposit is necessary. There is also coin laundry. Showers are very good, and the bathrooms clean. Kitchen is fully equipped.
I only missed a swimming pool, then considering the cleanliness of the hostel it would be complete.

as other reviewer said....its horrible...they wanted all the money up front and no refunds when you get there. I stayed next door at the Waikiki Beachside. Night and day between the two. Pacific Ohana is a rip off..bordering con artists.
