Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It is a simple old hotel with thin walls and weak water pressure from the shower and sink. For the price this hotel charge, other hotels can offer better with cheaper prices. It should be consider a hotel and not a resort & spa.

Hotel's Favourite
We had booked this through Costco Travel. After years of pandemic isolation, we needed this getaway. The bell desk checked our luggage even though we were four hours early. We explored the immediate surrounding area during that time. The location is unbelievable. The first impression from the lobby balcony does NOT do it justice. The check-in line had several impatient guests in front of us, but we are on vacation so just chilled while others complained vehemently. We are right across the street from the beach and the ocean. After receiving our keys, we headed up to the 32nd floor of the Diamond Head Tower for the ocean view. The floor to ceiling balcony door opened up to the Pacific Ocean, along with the sights and sounds of Waikiki. Each day we went down to the pool area to check out chairs and towels for the short trek across the street. The convenience cannot be overstated. While others schlep their coolers, chairs, towels and toys across blocks of busy Waikiki traffic to get to "our beach," we just wait for the elevator and crosswalk sign before floating in the water. Note to everyone. The blue umbrellas and chairs on the beach are NOT a part of this hotel. They are available from the tents on the beach for $30/2 hours; $50/4 hours; $60/all day. You can find other vendors away from the beach for cheaper options. We discovered there is a small, but thriving, farmer's market Mondays and Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Fresh cut fruits, vegetables, crafts, jewelry, snacks are all available. Having three ABC stores within this property is very convenient. We didn't realize the third store in the back of the Ewa Tower until the end of our trip.

Let me start with the staff was friendly and helpful, my room was clean. Everything was so dated and not in working order. The lanai door wouldn't unlock in my first room, they switched me right away, but my second room had an automatic door opener that made a horrible noises every time I went in and out, the closet was afterthought wooden armoire that had less than a foot worth of space to hang close, furnishings were old and dated, stains on desk chair, more along the lines of a hotel chain half the price of this. Location was great, buffet was good, service was great, grounds were great - rooms were not. I would not book this hotel again.

The experience on the first day ruined the rest of our trip. The valet staff did not allow us to unload our luggages as we selected self parking. We needed to carry our luggages from the parking across the street to the check in area. After we visited the beach and was in the middle of the shower we identified a soft yellowish thing on the tub at the water drainage. This ruined the rest our stay. Our room change request was not granted but instead we got three day parking waived. I appreciate the gesture but it obviously did not make us feel better. After the first day, the rest of the stay was good.

When we checked in the person helping us was abrupt. So started our vacation... She told us nothing about the amenities the hotel had to offer. All she wanted was to get our credit card, give us a room key and get to the next person. It took us days to find out what we should have known on day one. There was no "Aloha" spirit. We told the lady (different one) this when we checked out and all she could say is "Aww I'm sorry". The hotel seemed in a general state of disrepair. One of the escalators was broken so we had to walk to the opposite end of the huge hotel to get the remaining one or climb lots of stairs to get to the lobby floor which we usually did. We saw an area where wallpaper was peeling, the WIFI was sketchy and the bathroom in our room could have been cleaner. We came back to our room one afternoon to find our door wide open, two large men standing there talking with other people in surrounding rooms. They said they were there to fix our TV (which wasn't broken). I asked them if they could do anything about the WIFI and they said they were working on that too. Nothing changed however....The only thing consistent with what you would expect from a Hyatt Regency were the prices. After spending nine nights there, and the experience we had, best advice we can give to you is stay somewhere else.

Great hotel just across from the beach. we stayed there for our pre-cruise 3 night tour package. We had a spacious room with 2 queen beds and ocean view balcony. It was so beautiful to look out at the ocean and see surfers, sailboats and all the activity going on. There are many places to eat near by or get coffee/breakfast. It's close to shops too.

Excellent hotel we will be back as soon as possible. We have told everyone we know that they should go to Hawaii and stay at this hotel. Can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay. We want to revisit in March or April of 2025

My family of four stayed here 4 nights recently, on Hyatt points which waived the daily resort fee. I was also gifted a Club Access award by another Hyatt member so applied it to this reservation to get into their Regency Club daily. Overall, we really had a decent time here. It is a huge resort so I was worried itd be a mad house. It was busy, esp with Asian travelers, but the good outweighed the bad. Room with nice space and ocean views on the 26th floor. Bathroom shower had some moldy grout and ceiling that needs attn. Regency Club access very nice for breakfast and afternoon snax, saved us some money there. Good working hot tub. Parking across the street in a tight parking ramp.....not so good and expensive. However, due to the room next door to ours yelling and cussing late at night (yes you 2605), the hotel gave us free parking the duration of the stay, this was offered by Grace at the front desk. Very generous considering inconsiderate guests werent really the hotel's fault. Overall, pleased, esp with the friendly staff.

Hyatt Regency Waikiki, 02/10/24 to 02/17/24, at best, a 3-star hotel due to the lack of so many features; first the poor features, overpriced buffet for what they offer, Korean bbq is great, but not every night, $80 a plate, no lobby bar, (no, the pool bar does not count), intermittent Wi-Fi…works great…when it’s working, escalators not working on the Diamond Tower, friendly but not helpful front desk. Good features, comfortable beds. That is it. Hyatt, this hotel needs a major refurbishment, or sell it and move on. Won’t be back. Marriott sure looks good right now.
