This is a plain Jane hotel, nothing fancy. But it has so much going for it. CLEAN, CLEAN. CLEAN..... Very close to the beach. The rooms all have microwaves, coffee makers and little fridges. In the lobby there is coffee, tea and small smacks. The front desk staff is welcoming and helpful. This is not a five star hotel. but a great little hotel . If you flying in for a few days and would like a reasonable price hotel The Stay is where you should stay.

Overall, I enjoyed this hotel very much. Although the rooms are on the smaller size and twin beds are different from the queen beds in many hotels, as a single person traveling I was comfortable. The AC worked great, there's coffee in room and housekeeping service is good. I particularly liked the washer and dryer for guests as on day 3 I was ready to do laundry. They provide soap pods and dryer sheets at NO COST. This was really one of the highlights as a business traveler. They also have coffee downstairs with cream, flavored creamer and sugars. The only complaint is they use single serve coffee pods and living in Hawaii part time, this is not good for our island! The lounge is nice and peaceful for relaxing. Staff are GREAT! Everyone was smiling and hospitable. Within walking distance to the beach, nearby hotels, restaurants and shopping.

Mahalo nui loa, Jennifer, for taking the time to share your positive rating and review. We are thrilled to know that you found exceptional value in your overall experience, and we hope that the happy memories you made while staying at our hotel will bring you back for a well-deserved, fun-filled vacation next time around. Mahalo for mentioning our coffee pods. We are very interested in pursuing more sustainable practices in our operations, and we are presently looking into bio-degradable coffee pod options. Additionally, our management team is attending sustainable tourism training, and we are looking forward to learning how we can best implement these environmentally-conscious initiatives at our property going forward. Great location and good service.
Clean. Parking available although in limited numbers.
Comfortable, but not for those who have to sleep on the couch.
Coffee and snacks are available, beach towels and life jackets are provided. It is one block from the beach close to dining and shopping venues.

I give 1 star because I want to make a point:
Hotel room is very small. It saysbeautiful photos on the website, but they do not quite correspond to reality.
The bathroom is very small and there is not a single chair in the room. Also, you can hardly leave your suitcase openin your room, there's really no room for this.
There is a coffee machine and refrigerator in the room.

The hotel is close to Waikiki Beach. And around the hotel there are many restaurants, souvenir shops and ABC Stores.

The hotel offers a number of services: free coffee and tea (in the room and in the lobby), free filtered water, free use of the washing machine and dryer, free beach towels and there is an ATM in the lobby.

The housekeeping staff are very friendly and if you don't think it's necessary for them to clean the room, you can ask them for fresh towels etc.

The lobby also has the entrance to a karaoke bar. You can go here every night from 5 pm.

Although the hotel room was very small, we had a pleasant stay here.

I have booked for two person, one room and two double beds, but when we checked in, the room and the beds was too small, even for one person very small and narrow, the beds are too short and very small i can't stretch my legs enough as my legs hanging outside, the bath room was very dirty and small we have asked the staff in the receipting to change the room/beds and we have told that no allowed to change room. The room window has no curtain to cover window light, very nosey. our stay in your hotel was very stress full and unpleasant, this hotel was the worst hotel i ever staid in my life. I also booked and paid the fully amount through Agoda, but the stay hotel charged me extra money of £53.08 for resort which I haven’t expect to pay extra money as I have already paid to Agoda. the location was good but the hotel was extremely bad, almost most of the time we was out as we couldn't sleep in the room. We come to relax and enjoyed but our stay in stay hotel was stressful.

My 1st room the air conditioner was so loud i videotaped it to show the desk person. there were no comparable rooms available, and she had to Phone a manager to get permission to upgrade me. The new room air conditioner was set at 66 degrees and the remote or face controls would not adjust the Temperature or shut it off. it blows at your face while in bed, had to block it with a suitcase. There is a desk but no chair of any kind in the room or on the balcony. The bed was horrible you could feel every spring in it. You are not notified until arrival that parking is $45.00 a night. Public parking lot is 3 blocks away. There are no light blocking curtains so light pours in 24 hours a day.

Pictures are photo shopped. Don't be fooled by these. Room was really, really smelly. Couldn't open balcony door as it would come off the rails. Bed was saggy each side where person slept. No cupboards or drawers to unpack. Bathroom when you turned the shower on in the bath (yes bath), the bath tap would come on with hot water. No way to turn it off and no plug. So very noisy, no cups, glasses for drinks. There was a wardrobe, but the doors wouldn't shut. The curtains were too short for the windows. This place even arranged the room to be bug sprayed whilst we were there. Definitely wouldn't return to this place!!!!!!!!!! Only upside was close to the beach.

The rooms are more like a prison or dorm room with the loudest A/C imaginable. For a little more you can do much better. It was clean, but it's very rundown and needs to be razed to the ground and built again. The pictures make it look much nicer than it really is in person. I would not stay there again.

The is a 1.5 star hotel at best. I’m really shocked that is has any of the good reviews it does, it’s because of those reviews I feel deceived. This hotel is motel 6 caliber. From the bed of springs to the flat pillows n horrible bedding. Insect traps behind the 1980’s furniture(what little they have, crusty desk and beat up shelf for mini fridge & microwave) the curtains are see throw and not even long enough to cover windows entirely, they are hung by a cheap piece of wire. No safes for valuables no do not disturb signs. The beach towels they give out are crusty little pink ones that were embarrassing to even pull out on the beach. The bathroom sink felt/looked like it was about to give way and I was scared the mirror bathroom was going to fall on me. ZERO storage space in the bathroom, that goes for the entire room. The rack that holds the towels was covered in rust which really sucked because there was no hooks for the towels so you really had no other option. They should be ashamed charging what they do and trip advisor should be checking up on properties to ensure customer/guest experiences. I fell so deceived. I had to spend 5 days in this dump. STEER CLEAR!!

Aloha Anisha, Mahalo nui loa for taking the time to share your feedback. You're seeing numerous positive reviews from verified guests on other online travel sites because they've in fact had amazing experiences at our hotel. From our many returning guests to our happy new ones, our reputation for excellent guest service proceeds us and brings top value to the overall experience. Experienced travelers know that sometimes expectations can be missed at the first impression but that a simple visit to the Front Desk can and will put things right. We are able to room switch guests from smaller rooms to larger units upon request and for a nominal upgrade fee. Waikiki is a top visitor destination in the world and you are visiting the islands during whale watch season, which is peak. Off-peak season is generally from late September through mid-October. We are looking forward to refreshing the form and function of our hotel property. Hawai'i is a not a market where motels exist. Thank you again for letting us know your feelings about your experience. Mahalo nui loa, Carolyn Ncube General Manager Stay Hotel Waikiki

hi do they do a hold on credit card when you check in?
Answer from Keith T
Canberra, Australia110 contributions82 helpful votes
I booked through an online booking system and the payment details were all handled that way. Their receipt was all fine and we had a good stay. I am not sure if they need your credit card details for a security deposit, but best to have it just in case. If that is the case, they just take an imprint and return your card to you.

Hi Annabananna K I don't think they do. I saw their area behind the office where they hold luggage & it was tiny, plus I don't remember seeing any in open rooms as I walked past.

Yes, you can take a public bus to Diamond Head and Pearl Harbor from Pantry House bus stop which is around 2-3 minutes walking distance from Stay Hotel Waikiki. For the bus number, you can ask from the hotel or check on the internet.

Sorry I cannot answer the question because it is not my hotel. However it is not a big hotel and renovations could be inconvenient.

Eggs and things is a really good breakfast spot it's right across from Waikiki beach. Try their coconut syrup if you go
