The Waikiki Malia hotel is frequently lauded for its inviting atmosphere, featuring modern Hawaiian decor and elegantly styled bathrooms. The prime location is a hit among guests, who appreciate being close to Waikiki's beaches, shops, and restaurants. Cleanliness is a standout, with many visitors commending the spotless rooms. While the hotel's amenities and comfortable rooms are well-received, some guests have pointed out the small pool and outdated aspects of the rooms. Service is generally seen as friendly and helpful, although occasional service issues have been mentioned. Despite added fees impacting its value, many travelers still regard the hotel as a good deal.

It was my first time staying at the property but the staff was beyond friendly and helpful, the property location is perfect -- not in the exact middle of the Waikiki action but very close to it. Everything was clean and I love a coffee maker in the room though there was also coffee in the lobby in the mornings. The pool/hot tub is small so good for little kids - as an adult, I didn't use it but the ocean is so close, why would I? The hotel also had towels at the front desk if you did enjoy the pool so thumbs up. I also had a reasonable rate (it helped it was January when I stayed so not high season) and will definitely stay again.

Mahalo for sharing your wonderful experience with us! Our team works hard to make sure every guest feels welcomed, and it’s great to know that their friendly service made a difference for you. We’re glad you enjoyed the location of our hotel – it’s always nice to be close to the action without being right in the middle of it. It’s also great to hear that you took advantage of the coffee in your room and the morning lobby offerings. Thank you for your kind words about the reasonable rate, and we’re excited to welcome you back in the future. We look forward to having you with us again soon!

The staff at Waikiki Malia made our visit 100x better. When we made our reservation (through our time share NOT Malia) we were promised a specific room/bed/kitchen. When we arrived for our honeymoon, my husband and I were stuck with twin beds. We were not happy! However, not only did the man behind the desk get us a new room, he took the time to show us a few to pick from. He went above and beyond. As far as the actual hotel, there were beach towels easily available to grab at all hours which was nice. The room was stocked with complimentary metal water bottles and filtered water for refills. Water was always available, at all times which was very helpful. Ample parking which is not what I heard on other hotel's reviews. We had a truck, parking was a breeze. (Side note, the truck was so good for getting through flooded terrain in Oahu!) Across the street is Ali'i coffee, they don't have a sign but if you know to check it out, it's the BEST. I recommend the taro + Ube latte. The coffee in our room was actually good too. I used both packages at once to make a stronger brew. the coffee machine looked brand new every morning. Very clean. Our bed was comfortable. The showers were nice and hot. Easy walk to the beach. We loved our stay at Waikiki Malia.

An amazing experience! They have a FREE water refill station along with two provided aluminum water bottles in your room. The jacuzzi is perfect and it’s a SHORT 10 min walk to the beach. Location is perfect and has everything you need within walking distance.

We stayed 4 nights in a room of the remodeled Malia tower, as is the photos of the web, super spacious, comfortable, all new, with minibar, coffee maker, balcony, the capable bathroom was small and half outdated with respect to the room but does not obscure the experience. Very good location, normal service, has complimentary coffee in the lobby in the morning, beach and pool towels, refillable bottles with ground floor water fountain and a hot tub and an indoor cold water pool. Everything it offers we could take advantage of, certainly highly recommended and good prices for the date. We had a great time.

The good-the location cannot be beat. Out the back door and for $5.50 (cash) and turn right and you are feet away from trolley stop. For that $5.50 you can ride from 10 am to 8 pm. You can go to Ala Moana Shopping Center to eat at food court and shop. You can get off at your favorite beach, favorite restaurant and shops. At the Waikiki Malia you can catch the bus ($1.25 exact change for seniors) and ride all over in air conditioned comfort. The staff at hotel is great and after a long flight we had no trouble checking in early to our room. The maids are super. You can walk almost anywhere from hotel.
The not so good-the rooms are very small-you can fit one chair onto balcony and that is it. The pool is described as a small lap pool and it is small! I would have preferred to have a pool to read by in a comfy lounger.
Would we stay again? If we could get a really good rate yes. If not, would go to a property with a nice pool.
Our view was partial ocean and was ok. The internet service was spotty.

Overall our stay was great as the front desk staff were all really nice but there's definitely room for improvement. When we first arrived I was impressed by how clean the room smelled but unfortunately house keeping quality was not consistent. We only wanted it every other day during our week stay and things weren't replenished 2 off the 3 times and floor wasn't cleaned one of the times. Made me wish I had brought my own cleaning supplies since we came with a crawling baby.

The room itself is quirky. Floors are uneven so none of the doors closed properly, but it was nice to have separated areas with a young child. The hotel in kind of motel like but most the noise other reviewers spoke of came from the street side through the very thin balcony door. Double pane glass could easily remedy this. We brought a sound machine and baby slept fine through it all.

If you're planing to use the kitchen, bring a knife, measuring cups/spoons, kitchen towel, sponge, dish soap, command hooks or s hooks to hang stuff and a cheap picnic tablecloth to put over the ironing board and use as extra counter space as there's hardly any.

The hotel has coin laundry $5 USD to wash & $5 to dry. There's a gym and a pool that we didn't use. On Fridays they give away free ice cream and have other activities. They also have a courtesy room where you can shower after you've checked out while you wait to go to the airport. We did not end up using but think it's awesome if you want to go to the beach one last time or hang out at the pool.

We have been staying at the Malia since 2010, and have never been disappointed. This is a very clean, welcoming, efficient hotel. The employees are the best part of Malia. Shawn, night manager, is amazing in his: people skills, ability to remain calm in all situations, kindness, efficiency and friendliness!! We slept very well at night knowing he was in charge. Rosa, housekeeping 18th floor, was the best!! Our room was always spotless, and she was always smiling with her "Good Morning" greeting. Troy, day shift staff, is true Hawaiian!! He is kind, helpful, friendly and truly lives ALOHA!! I do hope management recognizes and rewards these valued employees!!
The location is an easy, pleasant walk to shopping, beaches, and dining options. Malia is the only place we will stay for our annual Hawaii visit!!! Thank you to all employees, especially Shawn, Rosa and Troy!! YOU are the best!!

I stayed almost a week at the Malia. From first contact at the front desk with the warm hospitality I could instantly tell the level of customer service at the hotel. Although I can’t remember names, all the staff were helpful no matter how small the enquiry.
I had one of the partial ocean view rooms on the 16th floor. The view is really great looking over to the ocean and I spent a few nights on the small balcony just watching everything go by. Yes, I’d say the room/bathroom is of an old style and could really do with some updating. Some lamps and plug sockets didn’t work but there was enough to get by. The bed was very comfortable. Daily housekeeping was good standard and coffee, toiletries, towels were refreshed as needed. Location was good, around 6-7 mins walk to Waikiki beach, lots of restaurants, ABC convenience stores nearby. Bus stop to airport literally across the road. The hotel does add on a $25 resort fee per room per night which I wasn’t aware of when booking (with an OTA) which was a surprise at check-in, however overall in comparison to other hotels rates nearby, for what I paid I believe I had great value.

The Hotel is located at a Prime Location just walking distance to Waikiki Beach and every other place. If you’re looking for an affordable but comfortable place this is it! Staff were very friendly and helpful. They do charge you a $100 fully refundable deposit once you check in and will give back deposit once you check out. They also offer a Hospitality room should you need to check out but still need a room to freshen up. Hotel is very accommodating to needs customers might need/want. BOOK HERE!

Nice place but would not go back. Almost every hotel requires a resort fee, but with that you get all the goodies. Our wi-fi went out for a few days, called desk and as usual said would take care of it, 3 days later we got our wi-fi back, my teenage son was happy. Only 2 ice machines for an 18 story hotel, also one of the (only 2) microwaves went out and I notified desk again, they did not change it. The pool is a joke, if you are thinking of sitting around the pool with a drink, getting some sun, instead of the beach, the pool is only roughly 8 ft x 24 ft, that it is in a carport to the hotel and there is no room for chairs or sun. The bathrooms as noted, extremely small, if you are a big person, trying to close door would require you so work your way around the toilet to close door. I rented a car for this trip, well aware of the parking price per night, but needed the car. Was hard finding the entrance to the garage, only one way to get in because of one way streets. Going up and down the ramps into the garage was not easy or fun, slow as possible to not scratch small rental car, the ramps are so tight, glad I did not rent SUV. Staff was nice at desk, room ok. Fridge super small, barely hold 2 six packs of soda. I would only stay here if I did not have a car and did not stay much in hotel.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on your recent stay with us. We truly value guest feedback, as it helps us improve our services and facilities. We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the Wi-Fi and the microwave – this is certainly not the experience we strive to provide, and we’ll look into both of these issues to ensure they are addressed promptly. Additionally, we understand that the size of our pool and bathrooms may not meet everyone’s expectations, and we regret that it didn’t suit your preferences. Thank you again for your feedback. We're glad to hear that our staff was helpful, and we hope that we may have the opportunity to host you and your family again in the future under better circumstances.
