The Waikiki Heritage Hotel is often described as a charming retreat that exudes a nostalgic mid-century atmosphere, allowing guests to unwind comfortably away from the city's hustle. Its prime location garners consistent praise for its tranquility and easy beach access, as well as its proximity to local shopping and dining. While some guests mention the rooms could benefit from further updates, the cleanliness and maintenance of these spaces are frequently applauded. The hotel's amenities, including kitchenettes and a pool, along with the commendable staff, contribute to the property's perception as a good value, despite concerns about additional fees and the cost of parking.

We recently moved to Hawaii. Pagoda Waikiki was our home for 6 weeks while our rental was ready. All the staff is very helpful and always treat you with respect. This is not a 5 stars hotel but the sourronfings, the location, the warmy people make you feel that you are at home. Our room was the 122 with this cute entrance with a garden, a basic kitchenet and a big bathroom. They have a laundromatic area that was a plus for us living for more than a month there. Walking distance to everywhere: the beach, drugstores, malls, public bus stops, biki stations, restaurants. We used some pizza deliveries and they did not have any problem finding us. I highly recommend Pagoda Waikiki if you are a down-to-earth traveler looking for a nice place at a good price, hot water, AC and clean sheets/towels (every 4th night, as you do at home).

The Pagoda friendly staff provided excellent service.

Rooms were clean and maintained regularly.

Kitchen in our room additionally was stocked with items to make it more convenient to cook and wash dishes.

The grounds are lovely with flowering plants.

Location of hotel convenient to amenities.

Would return and also would refer others.

We stayed in the Deluxe Room with a balcony overlooking the pool for 9 days. The balcony was accessed by two large sliding glass doors which provided some nice natural light and had a table which provided a nice shaded place to eat and relax which was a huge plus. The room itself was dated but everything worked. The air conditioning and ceiling fan kept us cool during the night. The AC is very loud though, so if you are a very light sleeper this might be a problem. When we got there, there was a toilet paper with only 1/3 of the roll left and one extra roll. We had to ask the front desk for more. There were not a lot of easily accessible outlets. We had to move the nightstand to access the outlet behind it.

There is no daily service. We were told that every 4th day they would come and provide service, but on the 4th day they knocked on our door and just provided us towels. On our eighth day, I got a text that they tried to change our sheets but there were items on the bed so they are not allowed to move them to change the sheets. Also, when they went into the room for service they did not take any of our trash out and left it piled up by the trash can (which after 8 days was a large pile). It was not communicated what they meant by servicing the room and that they would not be able to change sheets if there were items on top of the bed.

For parking, they charge $35/night but have limited space. They did not have space for 3/4 nights we had a car. There is the King Kalakaua Plaza Parking Lot recommended by the staff which is nearby and $24/24 hours which was a good alternative.

Overall, I'd say you get what you pay for. This is a pretty barebones hotel, but this was MUCH cheaper than the other options in Waikiki so we were happy to bite the bullet and spend a bit more on food and activities. I would recommend the Deluxe Room with a balcony if it's available and not too much more expensive than the other rooms.

Aloha jordany36, we thank you for staying at Pagoda Waikiki in BeachWalk. Due to Covid, we still don't do everyday service but only every after 4 days. We are also not allowed to change bed sheets if there are stuff place on top of the beds for your safety. Instead, we provides new towels. Regarding trash, we are sorry if our housekeeping missed it but we will inform them about it. Parking is very limited and have to be reserved ahead but we also provide Parking Options if we are fully booked, and we are glad you were able to Park at King Kalakaua Plaza. Again, Mahalo for staying and we appreciate your feedback!

$840 for 5 nights. Room up a flight of stairs, no lift. Arrived 22.30, just managed to catch a member of staff as they were leaving. No overnight reception. No parking, only 3 metered spaces out on the road limited to 2 hours for $3/hour or free overnight (IF you can get a spot) between 10pm & 6am. Nearest and cheapest overnight parking approx 400 metres away at $20 for 10 - 12 hours.
Room was dark and smelled musty. Very basic. Very tired looking. Plenty of cupboards but in disrepair. Ironing board but no iron. No hairdryer. Fridge was useful. Microwave which we never used so unsure if it works. Air con efficient but was extremely noisy. No windows, just dark shutters facing the pool so very noisy especially at night, could hear all the traffic, party goers, people around the pool, bin lorries etc, not conducive to good nights sleep!! Outside the door we overlooked the back of the property which looked like a rubbish tip...old mattresses, skips etc. The bathroom toilet seat was loose, mould around the sink, shower was hot and powerful which was good.
There was no room service unless you pay extra, so our towels were never changed and bin never emptied the whole 5 days, although, having a skip at the back meant we just tossed the trash over the balcony and it landed in the skip!
The bed was comfortable.
There is a 7 eleven over the road which is good, it’s where we got our morning coffee and pastry. They sell microwaveable food as well as fruit and a selection of Asian food.
Staff were polite.
Would we stay there again? Definitely NO!

I've stayed here a total of 3 times now. My GF and I travel to Hawaii somewhat frequently and this is our favorite place to stay. There are many things to love about this BUDGET HOTEL but I want to preface this by saying: Do not come here expecting a 5 star hotel. Keep your expectations in line with how much you are spending and you'll be a happy camper.

First off, I love the staff. From the workers in the front (Janice and Chris?) who always help us with booking and anything regarding the room, to Alden in maintenance who is one of the nicest guys on the planet. To be honest everyone there were sooo nice. They treat us more like a cousin, auntie or uncle would.

Second of all, you can't beat the location. You are so close to Fort Derrusy beach park which is our favorite strip of Waikiki beach. There is also so much food within walking distance, tons of hui cars within 1-5 mins walk, biki bike station a block away, ABC just re-opened across the street... I can keep going.

Third. Not having to deal with an elevator is something I didn't even expect to love so much. Coming from someone who constantly forgets something, this is such a big plus. The ability to go in and out quickly, sometimes only to drop stuff off is so convenient. I can't go back to elevator life.

The downsides are totally tolerable to me. It's a budget hotel but if you have stayed at other Waikiki hotels in this price range, you should know what to expect. This one is actually a bit better (cleanliness and space) in my opinion. It can get noisy but keep in mind, you are staying in Waikiki. It's a bustling city not a quaint country-side town.

If you stay here please be extra nice to the staff. They are way too nice and deserve the same in return.

The staff were really kind, and the location was wonderful if you love accessing Magic Island and downtown Honolulu. The building itself was a bit difficult to take in. Our first room was in rough condition both in care and regarding the fixtures, Furniture, Etc. We were very grateful that we could get a room upgrade. However, we found it questionable that we, as a couple, we're given a room with two double beds when we had requested at least a queen. We felt it was a bit gimmicky that we ended up paying an upgrade charge to get a room that accommodated a married couple despite our reservation request. That said, the second room was cleaner, and the housekeeping staff helpful. Just a heads up, the pool definitely provides a chilly contrast to the Beautiful, warm Hawaiian ocean! Some usually at the restaurant was a wonderful, delicious and colorful surprise! Thank you!

The Pagoda is a laid back hotel with huge rooms, nice balconies looking out into a courtyard pool, and all the bare necessities/ amenities you need. It’s not too loud in my opinion and my room was very clean. Coffee every morning and a kitchenette to make food (in a neighborhood where going out to eat is pricey). Great AC. GREAT GREAT WIFI (a necessity for me).

For surfers, it’s a 10 -15 minute walk to the beach. It’s easy to dry your suits on the balcony. And easy to wash off the sand in the bathroom by the door without tracking it into the room. I recommend the Moku surf shop.

Recommend you bring earplugs just in case you wanna nap during the day. Ask the hotel staff for cutlery!

I stayed during the state shutdown so it was relatively quiet. The hotel was in pretty poor repair AND parking was $35 per day above the cost of the room. During the 3 nights I was there, they never made up the room, possibly due to the COVID-19 shutdown, but I'm not sure. There were 2 sets of towels (bath, hand and wash). 2 bars of soap, 2 tubes of shampoo and a tube of lotion. There was a microwave and a apartment style refrigerator, 30" TV. No coffee, no breakfast, etc..
First night I was there, I ate part of my dinner at the desk, then watched TV for about 30 minutes. When I checked on my dinner, it was infested with ants. Never saw any roaches in the room but millipedes were pretty common. Not a lot, but I'd see one or two if I looked.
When I checked in, the carpet felt damp and sticky. Not sure but it could have been from disinfectant. Bed felt clean to sleep in, but the pillows were less than comfortable.
Hindsight being 20/20, I don't think I would ever stay here again. For a slightly bigger investment, I could have found something MUCH better. If cost is your number one criteria, this might be for you, but I'd recommend spending a little more and going elsewhere. Also, if you consider the parking cost, you might be able to find better lodgings comparably priced.

The rooms are clean but old. You pay an extra $35 a day when you arrive for the use of the pool & a room safe. There are no sun lounges to relax on by the pool. Crockery & cutlery are in short supply for a unit which has a kitchen. You only get one key unless you pay extra & if you lose a key or lock yourself out of the unit, it's another $50.

Thank you for your review. The amenity fee of $18/night plus tax not $35/night includes soap, shampoo, lotions, towels and linen upon request at the front desk not just the use of the pool and safe. Each unit is based on the room type. If more utensil are needed they could come to the front desk. For security reasons we only issue one key per reservation to our guest. If a guest loses the key a new one will be given at a cost of $150, or should a guest get locked out we do charge $50.
