Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express for 11 days/nights over the new year. It's an okay hotel for the price, but it's not the best location in Waikiki. The take-out breakfasts were pretty good. BUT... we had a lot of issues with housekeeping. They did not make up the room correctly even once. Every day it was some other problem. First they gave us one set of towels. We were two people. Obviously insufficient. Then they would give us two sets of towels, but forget hand towels one day, forget washcloths another. One day they didn't even give us the bathmat. They also played games with the coffee. I drink decaf, always. When you see that the regular and the decaf have been used, you should replace them both, right? First they replaced the decaf with chamomile tea, then the next day they replaced the decaf with regular coffee. Uh no! Even when I called specifically for decaf coffee, that's all I said decaf coffee, they sent 2 decafs and 4 regulars. Sigh. The biggest problem was the shower. It was cold to lukewarm. So we called. They sent up a maintenance guy. After he was done mansplaining to us how showers work (and for the record, you should NOT have to runt he water for TEN minutes to get hot water, especially not in a place where the average temperature is 70 degrees), the grudgingly said there might be a problem. He said he'd fix it, but the next time we showered, still cold. Oddly, the day *after* that, we actually had hot showers, but that was the end of our hot shower allotment. One day of hot showers and 10 days of cold to lukewarm showers. I wouldn't stay here again.…
I truly enjoyed my stay at this property in March 2021. The hotel experience was great and it was walking distance to the beach, malls, restaurants, and parks. It was also very close to the pick-up spots of our tours (literally across the street). Rooms are quiet, and very comfortable. COVID measures are strictly followed throughout the property and everything is super clean. I also want to mention the people that made our stay special. Everyone at this property is super nice and they go above and beyond to make you feel valued. I wish I could remember everyone's names, because they all deserve to be mentioned, but I want to give a shout out to Gladys at the Front Desk; to the best concierges in Honolulu, Matt and Ross, and to the super-friendly and extremely efficient security officer Page, who answered many of my questions and helped me a lot! I would definitely stay here again!…
I am so blessed with the two ladies Gladys Rivera and Virginia Casarez for their excellent customer service and help at the front desk. They are the jewels of Holiday Inn Express at Waikiki beach. The room we stayed are clean and everything we need are available.
Stephanie Yee (Group Sales) was instrumental in setting up a group for pre cruise stay. She was very responsive to request and responded very quickly given the time difference. Brent (reservations) was excellent in handling my concern when I called back. He assured me the overage on the confirmation would not be passed onto our travel client/guest.
I felt so welcome and comfortable with all the staff members. Andy from the breakfast area was always so nice to my group. He made sure to say good morning to us every day and give us good recommendations on things to do in the area. He was a great guy! I already miss him :(
